Why didn't you release flare when you know the missile coming
I think this should be mission of b 1b with long range missile capabilities
1. Should invite _Growling Sidewinder_ to one of your missions.
2. Should also have had Ukraine airfields available to land on. Many are in pretty rough shape (even before the war) but at least they'd serve to save a ~125M€ airframe (I averaged the €90€ + 160M€ unit procurement costs for Germany (2007) and Span (2010))
I know nothing about DCS or its map editor or whether making use of known airfields in the combat area is even possible (if not, that's a failing of DCS), but it's not an unreasonable expectation to have Ukraine controlled airfields available for landing and refuelling in such a high risk mission.
Retired Maverick in his restored P51 can take down that Russian AWACS no problem. He would fly his P51 into the AWACS, parachuted away seconds before the collision. Swim to Crimea, steal a motorcylce and make his way to Poland.
On the motorcycle, Maverick would make his way all the way back to NAS North Island in California!!!
Or he would get back by hanging on the side of a transport (oops, mixing my TC movies).
In real life, he’d land in Russia and give them a lecture for banning Scientology 🤣🤣🤣
Actually he would jump of the P51 without the parachute, landed on the AWACS, scared the crew to jump of the plane and fly into the sun. If there was any female on the crew she would be flying off with him.
You could wirte the new tom clancy novels ;)
Ahaha! I live somewhere near the area you attempted landing. Believe me, you wouldn't land anything on the roads here. Even helicopter)
😂🤣😂🤣
Lmao
On A trip through Ukraine in 2019. We were riding our bikes along a normal dual carriage way when it opened into a runway. We were stopped by some officials but allowed to proceed. I wonder how many quiet innocent looking roads suddenly turn into aircraft friendly areas throughout the Ukraine?
During the Cold War, many sections of the German Autobahn were designed in such a way that they could quickly be converted into runways.
They have these in South Korea too.
@@Macomio80 The Interstate Highway system in the United States is designed the same way. By law, certain sections of Interstate highways have to be straight and level, and the road bed and concrete is poured far thicker in those sections than it is along the rest of the roadway in order to be able to support aircraft.
@@Kaelland That's actually an urban legend, there's no such requirement or law
Meanwhile in Sweden...
NGADs is going to make missions like this _much_ easier.
If the Penetrating Counter-Air goes ahead (the proposed fighter escort to the new B-21 bomber) then it'll be a piece of cake...
If you had a few tankers orbiting outside the threat zone you may have made it. or a few more of you. Brilliant show.
No way a typhoon will do a belly landing on anything other than hard compact or metalled ground. You've got a dirty great big plough under the cockpit - digs in and ...well 🛩💨💥💥💥💥💥
Don't loose pilots. Sacrifice aircraft not knowledge and experience.
When you dropped your drop tank, it looked like is could have hit another plane....lol
Capt is the only person in life to knock out one of his team mates with a drop tank.. ..lol
lol yup...
I love how these scenarios assume total A+ competence and professionalism from the Russians. Which makes them fun to watch.
3:30 "All foreign intelligence set to veteran" 😀
If you plan any real world military operation NOT assuming A-level enemy competence - your operation will always run into some unforseen FUBAR.
I like how everybody in comments always assume Russia is incompetent
@@nikolanojic6861 pretty clear from the invasion the leadership is incompetent
i can't wait for the TG&HB Eurofighter. Will be absolutely insane
In reality: A) attacking the S400 with Cruise Misxiles (France) and F35 (Italy) B) Eurofighters with Meteors (Germany) to get air superiority, with tankers (Italy and France) orbiting on Poland borders. C) Bombers (F16 - F18 - Rafale's) targeting russians in Crimea.
the S400 is part of an IADS. It is not a standalone system. Multiple radars from multiple aspects.
the assets coming in over the ocean would get smashed, cruise missiles or not
tankers over Poland and US AWACS would be shot down in a realistic scenario
@@bobjones-bt9bh Cap. We have seen in the war, that this is not true. S400 is russian propaganda.
It'd probably be way easier just to sabotage or buy off the maintenance and support for them.
Don't worry, Ivan took care of that in the last 20 years :D
Just buy it. $80k, 10 Adidas track suits, and a plastic jug of vodka for an S-400.
A few bottles of vodka and pickled gherkins should do it 😂
@@mfreed40k throw in a big potful of kompot to sweeten the deal if needed.
@@gigaslave Cook them some shashlik and blins, and they'll defect to Ukraine in a heartbeat.
At high altitude at supersonic speeds you should manage over 165 (normal!) miles out of a METEOR when attacking something as large and slow as an AWACS cruising around at 25,000 ft. That's about the extreme range of CAPTOR in search and track mode against a large non-stealthy plane as well. I suspect the RADAR is under modelled in DCS as it's non AESA (so not sexy) - however it's actually better at extreme range search and track than most if not all AESA fighter RADARs as most AESA RADARs still have cooling issues in sustained high power search modes.
You should learn air tactics. 2 flights of 2 aircraft each , flying very close together to appear as 2 aircraft on radar. A third and fourth flight of 2 aircraft each, playing decoy to pull russian fighters out of your approach, and add tankers for return trip. Also fa18 growler to provide jamming and radar suppression.
Not in DCS fine sir that is not modeled. But yeah I think cap was trying to do a "can we do it with just 4 planes" kind of video instead of a "what would a real country actually do" kind of video
A couple of flights of F-22s could do the job without being seen!
just as i said. growlers
As I sit down to watch this, I’m going to pray that the AWACS has enough sense to take evasive actions when it sees enemy aircraft approaching directly towards it.
Wouldn't help much...
@@BoraHorzaGobuchul Now see, that's what I figured.
So, *_I think at this point,_* the major challenge is "penetrate".
Wouldn't AWACS itself be a waddling duck? _"AWACS is an incredibly vulnerable, sensitive platform."_ --Cap 08:30 (From my ground experience, SigInt birds were prone to system failures.)
Going evasive in whats effectively a big fat cargo plane with a massive radar strapped onto it isn't gonna help much. Perhaps notching and countermeasures might help, but with such a large RCS and low speed, I doubt it.
@@kevinzheng7373 I was think more like heading in the opposite direction while calling in fighters to intercept. It had a 200 hundred mile warning of enemy aircraft approaching, yet was still in the same spot when the missiles hit it.
@@damonried1720 yeah that's what I thought at first. However, if an entire flight goes directly for your AWACS on a suicide run, you might think this was the beginning of a far bigger assault that will already be en route so might take the risk of leaving it up, in the hope it is alive long enough to show you what the follow up force is. Or that it's a feint to force you east to make a small gap in the coverage somewhere else for some sneaky shit.
I doubt the game AI thinks that way though.
I think if you split into pairs, 50 nm away from each other at max range, you could exhaust their LR-SAM stocks, kill their responding fighters, then blast in on the AWACS from multiple vectors.
LOL, I read the splash screen with this vid, and thought ‘Gloster Meteors & modern Typhoons?’
wouldn't a realistic option be to land at a Ukrainian airport? I mean, if NATO is sending in fighters to destroy Russian assets, they might as well ask Ukraine for a landing strip. Mykolaiv and Kryvyi Rih were well within your reach. And considering that, you would have traded 2 Eurofighters for an AWACS, 2 SU-35s and a strategic disaster for Russia.
@tvercetti1 Suuuuuuure bud. It's not as if 4 HIMARS vehicles have been causing havoc for the Russians the last couple of days. And that Russia has seemingly run out of cruise missiles, so they resorted to using anti ship and S-300 missiles as ground strike weapons.
Maybe take another line of cope, bud.
@tvercetti1 What media? All media? I am following all aspects of this conflict, even Russian Telegram pages.
Are you using Super-cruise not afterburners?
Why didn't you set up any voyager tankers to refuel on the way there and back, you're in one of the best, no the best swing-role multi-mission one for all weathers from interdiction, ground attack, Brimstone, to air superiority and interceptions, over extended ranges with the BVR METEOR missiles, deep strike capabilities with Stormshadow, anti ship with Marte ER, And things I doubt I've even thought of.
Can't wait for true grit to release the "real" typhoon, and see you pull stunts like that with it
When the TU Delft looked at the Meteor missiles, the found it had "150 miles of range with potential for more".
My own conclusion is that they looked at the missile being fired from some worst case situation like lower altitude and subsonic plane. Other numbers I saw said the meteor was good for 175 mls.
What other factors are necessary to get these nubers I can't tell. One thing is sure: A Eurofighter with Meteors AMRAAMs and Iris-Ts in the packet is a damn scary opponent. SU-35s probably will get roasted when they pick fights with them. All others doubly so.
Phoenix from F14A TF30 could do the same maybe? Thanks Cap for the vids! Edit, F-15 can be an escort…
Very possible, I think Phoenix could shoot more or less as far as Meteor.
Really enjoyed this mission and was kind of on the edge of my seat for a lot of it. I couldn’t help wondering how tomcats with Phoenix missiles would have fared. Great stuff. Keep the Ukraine missions coming!
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, and it may have to wait until TopGun Maverick is home released... but I have a maneuver question I need the reapers expert analysis on:
During the final air sequence, in trying to evade the SU-57 in the tomcat, he pulls some kind of move where he 'splits the throttles', pushes down on one of the rudder pedals and throws the stick to one side to perform some kind of physics-defying move.
Since the pilot shouts the phrase "splitting throttles", and the control inputs are shown in relative detail (if very quickly), it has the feeling of an F-14 urban legend type move (maybe a bit like the Snodgrass over the top, flaps move?). Have you ever heard of this on your travels?
Tom Cruise is not a real fighter pilot!
@@leonardlackey2813 Yes, you are quite right - I use the word "pilot" in the broadest sense possible. Though given there are no serviceable F-14's in the western world and that sequence was all delivered digitally, and Mr Cruise has a high degree of technical knowledge, I assumed that would put this question squarely in DCS/Reapers territory.
This is a valid move, but because of the Tomcat's tendency to spin at very low speeds, this usually ends in an un-recoverable spin.
Outstanding I award 🥇 you the medal of shooter of the day to Simba
yay that's way better than the participation metals cap gives me
Oh, I just love Russian-Ukrainian conflict simulations! 👍
Cap needs to start calling professional boxing matches. Bet he’d be really good at it.
POOWW! in the face! and so on
Hum, speed..... the A-12 Archangel comes to mind for this sort of mission. The D-21 drone could be used as a supercruise/hyper cruise missile to take out an AWAC.
As for this scenario, keep thinking outside the box.... the answer is close.
agreed
Nice shooting, Simba - You took out 2 SU35's.... and Pooosh! 🙄
I saved pooosh from dying from a mig 31. no one kills Grim reapers except other girm reapers.
@@simba1113 Nice recovery! 😎
"Good landing" - Explode. Nice.
I bet American F15's could do it. They are a Mach 2.5ish. Awesome videos, keep up the good work!
Agree but they don't carry Aim-120D long ranged missiles in game...
Really really love the Ukraine serries you guys are doing.
Scenario:
Ukraine assets only. Stuff the Ukrainians either for sure have or could get (MiG-29s from Poland included, as well as Bayraktar drones). The point of this is to serverely impact Russia's ability to maintain their war machine from Crimea, and give the ground forces the potential to come into Crimea.
1st wing comes in and needs to take out the AWACS.
Neptune missiles, maybe Bayraktar drones, something, or a group of aircraft take out sea assets around the Kerch bridge.
Third-wave comes in and take out the Kerch bridge.
Fourth takes out a fuel depot perhaps located in Dzhankoi in Crimea?
Super important to save assets. Real-world cant just sacrifice assets. Drones are more sacraficial, but still cant be just sacrificed on a whim.
Timing will need to be impeccable. Im guessing take out the AWACS from the west, draw airborne assets, then take out the bridge from the southwest.
Is this doable? 🤷
Sounds fun.
Good job guys...scratch one AWCS!!
You should try this again with F35, or even a mixed wing F35 and typhoon.
Simba shot Russian AWACS down with F-35 in this one as I remember: ruclips.net/video/IJbf9Bcxnw0/видео.html
What a thilling mission! BUt I wonder what could happened having the help of a couple of growlers giving some ECM to jam russian radars. Besides that, given the fact not all ukraine is controlled by russia, you may have landed in some ukrainian hrld landing trip on the wertern side of the contry. Or try to get a tanker closer just after the attack. You should also arrange a second wave of attackers, just to shoot down all those momentary blinden Flankers and Foxhounds. Just to take advantae of the surprise.
Interesting outcome! Thanks GR
Use gripen e 7 meteors each mach 2 and great at short road landing. Also 1400 km range I think.
Can't use an AWACs if it's components have been sold for vodka.
@25:28 good landing....ahhh
lol 😆
Would like to see this with you guys flying F35's
😂
@@noidontthinksolol and I guess those Moskal planes are no match for F35's either
@@noidontthinksolol Indeed but as he said in the video this will likely be a one way trip anyway. But I know in real life that wouldn't be acceptable.
I think fighter jets would play a role if NATO did get involved, but not in the same way they were in this simulation.
Cant the British F35 use the meteor?
We did but there were technical problems with Russian gear detecting the stealth planes, weird results.
23:33 (1) Hold the shotgun firmly, with finger just over the trigger guard; (2) aim very carefully down at your own foot; (3) gently squeeze off the trigger. 🤣 (But cool mission, all the same.)
Don't you know anything? With a shotgun you slap the trigger.
Transfer that to Canada's DEW line... that will give you a better scale of the northern area that has to be monitored on a daily basis!
Would you think that a second wave could take out the Sam site and maybe a group of F22s could address the planes?
Simba shot Russian AWACS down with F-22 in this one as I remember: ruclips.net/video/IJbf9Bcxnw0/видео.html
Why would you need f22s? Just get tankers to circle around a get a second flight of typhoons with more drop tanks as they don’t need to be as fast, sidewinders and meteors to clean up aircraft aswell as possibly LRAASMs to destroy the s400
1:41 lol c'mon Cap just bc most of us are American doesn't mean we're completely stupid🙃😆 We or at least I was forced to learn about your country considering my country was a British Colony ;)
Further more in ancient history I learned even more, talking about back in Britannia times😁✌
"That is the power, of power." -Jeremy Clarkson
what if a wingman or two carried decoys? that could be launched ahead to divert the attack aircraft or at least lead them into an alternative direction than the one you plan to approach with? or that are launched after the missiles, where you are turning to appear to be aggressors and divert their attention on your egress route/track?
interesting video. Is it possible for one of the Eurofighters to carry a fuel tank with a basket? Have them refuel right before attacking and then again right after getting out of range of the S400? Aren't the super hornets capable of something similar?
eurofighters cant do that AFAIK
Buddy stores?
@@EthanThomson 2hhh8sJO9hPjcd36pddd8Dfds88
As of right now the EF2000 has no Buddy Store implemented. I dont know if there are additional power connections needed to use it or if it is just a question of software implemation. Also, I dont see that NATO would use such a small attack force to attack such a high value target, if it is defended by several SU-35. In real life such an asset would see a bigger effort, with several groups of EF2000, really heavy ECM and EW units and AAR would also be handled. Also I really think that "150 Miles" is a very conservative number for a Meteor, especially if you launch it high and fast. And lastly, the EFs could launch the meteors and go cold right away since the friendly AWACS can guide the Meteors. There are almost 200 NATO fighters in high alert as a reaction to this war as of right now, also there will be also over a 100 planes from finnland and sweden joining so there is no need to send 2 guys on a suicide run
@@flixri726 man, those meteors were over performing by a loooong shot. Ramjet is a sustainer not magic. The amount of fuel battery and life compared to the missile size wouldn't be that much better than an aim 120.
Mykolaiv airport and Kulbakyne airfield is still under Ukraine control and both pretty much where you all crash landed.
When the US designed their interstate highway system they kept in mind having areas and stretches of highway to land military aircraft in case of emergencies
Great mission, great result, great vid, thanks guys.
Notch the rader and they can't catch you.
Eurofighter isn't stealth but it is low observable with an RCS of around 1² metre, F15 is more like 5² metres.
yep, this is because its mostly made of composites and has the engine turbines "hidden" behind S-shaped intakes to hide those because they're very visible on radars.
Time to put that SERE training to use.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but why wouldn't a HARM be able to take out an AWACs as it would home in on the radiating radar dish
How about submarine the bridge? A couple of wellplaced torpedoes ought to knock down some pillars! Try a Swedish sub, they are really stealthy.
Will try

You cheated so much,
And shattered our dream.
8:10 "we gone die" haha
Meteor is pretty damn good IRL idk about DCS since I don't play
EDIT: Somehow I always forget the eurofighter is a thing.
Having a permanent 8 flight CAP would probably bankrupt the Russian Air Force in a month. Nah. They're relying on ground defenses and employing aircraft exclusively for high priority strike missions.
Yeah there is a lot wrong with this scenario.
High priority strike missions on hospitals, schools, and apartment blocks

Very interesting video, but what if made same from Russian side. For example, as we know NATO AWACS help Ukrainians, so what if several Su-57 or Su-35S will try to destroy american AWACS over Poland? I think it will be really interesting
Yup will be running this.
I don't understand why they could not be overwhelmed by a swarm of decoy cruise missiles and unmanned boats. Hidden within the Swarm would be just a few real missiles so as to overwhelm their ability to respond and run them out of ammunition
2:00 the city i live in is right on the edge of the red circle XD
Great mission. Please do it again with the F-35!

Exactly what I was thinking. F-35s, and/or F-22s.
Exactly what I was thinking. F-35s, and/or F-22s.
Cant wait till they release the full module
Why didn't the Russian Su 35 fire their missiles? They are also armed with R-37 with a range of under 400 km!??
The R-37 was designed primarily to take out AWACS and tankers not so much fighters if they defend aggressively. So it’s doubtful they will be fielding them defensively. Also I don’t think they are modelled in game
@@k-ron7403 What nonsense .... The P37 is quite versatile, and is able to work both on tankers and fighter aircraft.
@@k-ron7403 they would have them on mig31s
@@zanzan2738 no it’s not nonsense at all. It was initially designed in the 80s for the Mig 31 and can now be carried by the SU-35. Yes it can engage fighter targets but it’s better for larger targets. It’s manoeuvrability is what is in question for an evading fighter etc. Sure flying straight and level why not. I won’t often see SU-35 running them CAP, which primarily will be using the R77-1. They didn’t use them in Syria either. You might see them on the MiG-31s I guess but end of the day who cares. The SU-35s were running what they usually run real world so it is what it is
The modernised adders have a range of 100miles but whatever I do, the AI will not fire over 50 miles, not much I can do about it. Don't have enough humans that want to drive the Russian planes.

Parachute out of aircraft, save the pilot. You gonna lose the aircraft anyway. It was a one way trip. That’s my thoughts. JS.
Have you ever done, or thought about doing, an attack on the Death Star, flying in an X-Wing or Y-wing, fighting Tie Fighters, flying down the trench run to unload the proton torpedoes down the exhaust vent? Maybe do it the other way around and defend the Death Star?!
I don't think. DCS (digital combat simulator) can model that and this channel is dedicated to .
Since cap got shot down will the next video be a simulation of him moving into a gulag with his new husband Boris?😶
lol can't wait...
Hmm the AWACs should have defended and been running away from you. Anyway good fun, probably not the best use of a Eurofighter.
The UK has 10 Tranche 1 Eurofighters in storage and another 20 they are going to the retire this year or next. Those could go to Ukraine without impacting RAF readiness. I think there are some Tornados and Hawk T.1 or Hawk T.1A's in the same climate controlled hangers at RAF Shawbury.
Problem is that you would need to train Ukrainian pilots to fly the Eurofighters as they are all trained to fly MiG-29s and Su-27s.
@@animeemail8902 the war isn't going anywhere. They can take 6 months to train some pilots and there will still be plenty of Russians left when they are done.
Your next mission, should you choose to accept it - in the spirit of RAF luton, fly a canberra over an s-400 site & perform recon. Whoever makes it home is the winner
nice

Poosh had to pay for that mistake with a meteor.
Whoopsy!
yeah I get disoriented when my blood sugar is low.
Maybe two or more aircraft should have attacked the S-400 site with storm shadow/scalp/kepd missiles to draw its fire away from the northern group. Other than that 'what if', very good.
Could you use Brimstone or Storm Shadow to make Eurofighter wild weasel against the SAM site.
Brimstone is too short range, Storm Shadow could, if it avoids getting shot down on the bunt maneuver.
Or maybe some taurus cruise missiles with a mixed load of HPM (EWar) and SMArt (Smart cluster munitions) Warheads.
Doesn't Germany have a specific variety of eurofighter for this role as well as some tornadoes still?
Will try.
Another good video. Have you done this attack with “Fat Amys”?
Simba shot Russian AWACS down with F-35 in this one as I remember: ruclips.net/video/IJbf9Bcxnw0/видео.html
Frankly, unexpected!
Nice scenario, but: The removed pylons are actually integrated into the structure and are chaff dispensers. But who cares it's just a game, right?
Me watching all this and wondering, Where are all the civilian airliners???
Hey Cap, wouldn't it be easier to let one person play as a spectator for the videoing ? kind of feels like you cheat your way a little bit by checking on missile launches
I could just watch map instead of flying. Problem is people really want to see cockpit footage also...
The best thing about working Intel is seeing all cool shit. The worst is not being able to tell you guys about all the wrong stuff here so you can redo this right. :(
When will the next Carrier Command 2 vid be out??
Weekend, sorry for wait.
Where are r37s and why are mig31 still equipped with r33 instead of r37
No longer available to Mig-31 in game for some reason.
I’m a big fan of these videos I play ace combat I know not a fighter sim lol I wish your game could sim a airwolf and blue thunder dog fight just for shits and giggles 🤭
In fact they re-enacted two blue thunder scenes and tried to do the airwolf chimney takeoff/landing.
There you go:

Great mission
Using F-35s and B-1 bombers you can punch through and wipe them out.
could an F14 with the phoenix missile be able to do this? If had them.
ThE AIM Phoenix on the Tomcat had a top speed of Mach 5, I think it would work.
Pretty sure it can. Again, suicide mission.
you guys are awesome
Surely all we need to defeat any manned aircraft and ground AA anywhere on the planet is expendable supersonic drone aircraft each with 8 meteors, capable of ridiculous G and Mach 3?
With a few decoys like the other video for the bridge it would be easier
In reality there would be a plan to distract, decoy, delay, overwhelm and jam. Let alone refuel.
In this same scenario would it be possible to take out the S400 launch site itself?
Why wouldn’t they I’m Shore this has been done many times hence the new weapons being developed
Head winds or weather make a big difference?
Potentially yes.
That's why air to air refueling tankers evolved. 😅😅😅
Rafale came to India from France directly... Just needed air to air refueling..... 😊😊😊
India send a Su30 MKI with Brahmos (as far as I remembered it's Brahmos) 4000 km away, do mid air refueling..... This was deep penetrating exercise few month ago. 😅😅🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Sweet
So many factors like time to react IF you are in reaction mode or attacking mode. Then what about zerg attacks if 500 missiles were incoming how many could be successfully eliminated and how much time would be needed to deploy in reaction mode so then how much loss would be incurred if too much time to react was needed? What if some key bases were targeted and destroyed eliminating those reaction bases?
There is a chain reaction when comes to losses because new deployment needs to takeover for eliminated forces and how long would that take and what if that deployment was needed and counted on elsewhere?
SO what if China AND Russia launched a combined attack effort on several fronts?
Being in REACTIVE mode is a huge negative as witnessed by the Ukraine war.Reactive mode means you have already taken losses already had strategic bases eliminated airfields eliminated etc etc.
This is of course why intelligence is so important but even though Nato was certain Russia was about to attack the response was very slow and mostly inefficient.SO imo there is no easy prediction wars are not fought on paper or opinions but contain large areas of CHAOTIC environments.
Yes they can
If politics and MAD wasnt a thing :((((
@Schnitzelmesser European ECM systems are really really good. The grippen can get into visual range of a modern typhoon before the radar picks it up and the Rafale is even better. Don't know much about the EF's EW suite, but given the capabilities of its contemporaries, I'd imagine irl it can get well within meteor range before it's picked up.
@@92HazelMocha Isn't EF EW still in developement? As you said: with EW Rafales, Grippen or Growlers it might be very interesting. But is EW modelled in DCS?
@@RolleDA the Eurofighter ECR is in development but to some extend it already has EW capabilities. EW simulation in DCS is, afaik, nowhere near somewhat accurate.
no they can't all su-30SM and su-35 operation in ukraine carry R-77M active radar missile with 190 km range not much "inferior" than meteor at all . there are no picture russian jet in ukraine carry old and outdate R-27 anymore . add in AWAC and S-400 radar cover tracking non-stealth typhoon aren't problem
