SEPTA, NJT, MARC, & Amtrak HD 60fps: Borrowed Push-Pull Power on SEPTA Regional Rail (7/28/16)

  • Assorted action consisting of push-pull equipment, most leased, at Trenton Transit Center and 30th Street Station. To date, one NJT set, one Amtrak set, and two MARC sets are being used in service, with a third MARC set being prepped for service. Two out of the three MARC sets do not have cab cars, thus necessitating SEPTA to tack one of their own cab cars to the end of the consist, creating quite an amalgamation of equipment which I affectionately call AmMARCTA lol. Enjoy =)

    I’m sure that gets super confusing on the SEPTA routes that are on the Northeast Corridor and the Harrisburg Main Line.
    Imagine an Amtrak ACS-64 pulling up to Ardmore saying “I terminate at Thorndale”

    Kind of cool seeing some train cars from the Baltimore to Washington DC's MARC with some SEPTA train cars being pushed/pulled by an Amtrak Locomotive. While Hyundai Rotem did a blunder which caused their Rail Car plant to close in South Philly, at least the other Transit systems from the East Coast lent SEPTA some temps. Talk about Hyundai Rotem pulling a Neoplan, but for train cars instead of buses.

    For the life of me, I can’t understand why they got an ALP-46 from NJT when the Arrow IIIs look very similar to Silverliner IVs

    • @jbreezy101

      The alp,.now retired,.was a gift from the manufacturer of the Norristown high-speed line cars that were severely delayed.

    A third MARC set is on the way? Wow MARC is breeding spare sets like rabbits. Despite all the chaos on Regional Rail I'm sure SEPTA is secretly foaming at the opportunity to play with Amtrak's ASC-64's :p

    • @jbreezy101

      I don't know if septa messed up. I was definitely ok that they pulled them putting safety above profit. I think Hyundai rotem messed up big time... I knew someone who worked for septa maintenance and he told me that hr wasn't being very helpful when these were pulled. A place out of Pittsburgh did the beam manufacturing that fixed the Vs

  • @PGHammer21A

    The lack of cab cars is because MARC does not use them! (The reason they don't is because only one MARC heavy-rail line is electrified - the Penn Line - and that uses mostly locos leased from AMTRAK; the Camden and Brunswick Lines are sans caternaries - and thus cannot use cab cars, either; like the Penn Line, the locos used on the Camden and Brunswick Lines are mostly leased - again, from AMTRAK.) NJT has more electrified lines than MARC; however, even they do not have as many as SEPTA.)

    • @jbreezy101
      @jbreezy101 2 года назад

      All of SEPTA's 13 lines are electrified, three are owned by Amtrak (Wilmington & Trenton on the NEC and Paoli Thorndale on the keystone).
