Blackstar ID Core 10 dead no power fix

- After sitting for a couple days I turned on the switch and got nothing. I checked several possibilities and finally found the problem - a bad off/on switch.

After watching this video, I opened up the top and found that the red wire to the switch came off.. touched it to the terminal and bam, it powered on....thanks for making this!
I turned on my Blackstar ID Core stereo 20 this morning and it was dead. I watched your video and it was exactly the same problem. I replaced the switch and off she went. Thank you for the solution.
Was the power supply on mine. Second night I had it.
Grabbed one out of my pile and up & running again.
New power supply on its way.

I had the same problem and unscrewed the top panel of the amp after watching this video. Everything seemed good. The fuse, the cables... I tried bypassing the switch, and... It started working. I guess I should get a new switch now. Thanks a lot for this video, it was very helpful.
Dude, you are a lifesaver. I thought the problem was with the adapter (which is not at all easily available here in India) but bypassing the switch worked like a charm. Thanks a lot.

@@kennethruggiero2561 Just unscrew the top and you can see the switch. I simply looped the switch with a bare copper wire instead of soldering, it worked.
Thank you so much. Mine just went out today and I was trying to figure out how to fix it. I followed your footsteps and gave up at switch as I didn’t have a test meter but wiped the connector for one last time and it worked. Lol. But you inspired me nevertheless.

hey man, thanks a lot. mine fell down from the stand and wasn't powering on, i could hear the fuse while shaking but didn't know what it was, now i knew and solved it.
Had a power issue on mine yesterday. It kept turning on for a second, and then off for 3 seconds. The weird thing was that if I turned it on without a cable plugged into the input, it would stay on. But the moment I plugged in that cable, it went back to flicking on and off. The whole time the power supply's blue light remained on, which should mean that it's functioning correctly. Replacing switches or resoldering joints is a bit beyond me, so I thought I was going to have to just chuck it in the trash. Turned it on today, and it's working again. What the heck?
UPDATE - My amp works just fine now as long as I do things in a very specific way. I have to turn it on with absolutely nothing plugged in and let it 'warm up' for a minute. Once that's done, I can plug in my guitar cable, headphones, and tablet without any issues. That's great, because I really do like how this little amp sounds.

Yeah! Same thing! I bought mine on the auction just for 3 bucks in none working condition. I tried everything, couldn't find the problem ...until bypassed the power switch!!! Got it working right away! Voila!!!

I had my id core 10 power go out and it turned out to be the cheap power cable from the adapter to the wall plug i replaced and it works perfect now
My amp was not starting on and I had to return it. Should I buy another same?
I’m having the exact same problem. Don’t know what’s going on. I’m going to try and bypass the switch as well. Will let you know how it goes. It’s out of warranty now so I can play around with the insides.
Did the bypass and amp now works, I want to get a new switch but can't find the same one without importing it from China, what other size amp/voltage switches will work? Thanks
Where did you read about the power supply parameters? I bought a power supply off EBay and its 12v so i want to be sure it will work. My amp has a bunk switch too.
No!!! The new adapter is a 10 volt dc 3.5 A
I wouldn't use a 12 volt. It will break down.
My Adapter has blue light on but on connection it is not turning on ...so is the adapter Dead or the amp..?

Does anybody know what kind of fuse would go into this amp? I pulled mine apart and the fuse looks to be blown. Just not sure what to replace it with.

Wow this is a Blackstar support group lol I bought mine for around $ 99 4 years ago? I used it for maybe a year and same BS power was going on and off. Sometimes when I first plug it in it goes on but then shuts off. And wont go on until it wants to.I love the sound of this amp .Do I have to solder new switch?
Mine Blackstar V2 started doing the same thing...kept going on for 2 seconds and then off and then on and then off checked power coming in and it was 10 volts, checked the switch and it was good. Checked the the fuse and it was good. Nothing left for me to check do it must be in the Logic board somewhere ...bad capicitor or something...
On the adapter the cord that goes the wall socket can be replaced. That what happened with mine i replaced the cable and it works fine now.
I got my Blackstar working !!! There is a Factory reset in the setup guide that came with the Amp.. I tried it a couple of times and got mine to finally work after I gave up on it about 6 months ago. First couple of times it did not work and then finally did?? Go figure
Mine stopped working after about 7 months of use and I took a quick look but found nothing . I have a few other amps so I just used those. I decided to take a closed look at the Blackstar ID 3V again just now . I checked continuity on the switch and the fuse and both are fine. Not sure how to check voltage on the the little barrel plug. Put the ground test probe to the outside of the plug and the positive to the inside of the plug , I'm guessing ??? Ok did that and got a 10.2 v reading so what the heck is wrong ?? t does not power on at all ...nothing

I have a different problem with my Blackstar. On the voice selection, I can only choose the Clean Warm effect. The other effect's light are also off. Only the clean warm works. Any help please? Thanks!!!

@@jjjj126 I have almost the exact same problem. Effects all work, but I can only use Warm Clean tone on Voice. The knob clicks, but it won't change. I tried downloading the Insider app, but I can't reach the UK site for download. Found a RUclips video saying Insider is not compatible with OSX Catalina because it's 32-bit, and unlikely to be updated. Disappointing. I'm gonna try to download a firmware update using my mom's Windows machine, but I don't have high hopes. Also waiting to hear back from Korg, Blackstar's only US support dealer, about replacement parts, etc. Bought is used on Facebook Marketplace, so I"m screwed as far as service goes. Don't know if it's worth trying to fix or not.
SAME! I opened it up today and sprayed it with contact cleaner and scrolled the switch but it did not help. I reset it and still nothing, then downloaded the new architect app and I can switch between modes only when its plugged in to my laptop through the screen but not the knob. The app wont go all the way full screen on my laptop, it cuts off about an eighth of the way down. Not sure how much I'm wanting to tinker with this amp.
@@findrosshere its not. I have the same issue but I'm just going to use a pedal with it for practice or in case I travel.
Had mines for 3 months and it kept switching itself off when I flicked the switch, I tried getting it fixed but had no luck. Eventually the thing stopped turning on completely Very disappointed 😞.
Hello there! I downloaded the ID Core app and connected it to my amp and now my amp wont turn back on. Do you have any idea on how i can fix this?
@J.K. I had to email them and after them giving me a hard time for a few days, they agreed to send me a new one. I payed to ship mine to them, so, try to make it so that they pay it for you. Thats what I would've done if I could do it again lol.
I also dont trust their software anymore so I now record by using my mic to record my amp lol. Sounds surprisingly good.

The headphone jack in my amp isn't working :(
on mine verythings turns on and everything..but when i plug my guitar there is no sound..i have no idea what it is..Sound from mp3 line in is working..only my guitar sounds doesnt..i ve tryed my electric guitar and electro acoustuc also....no sound what so ever

mine suddenly has sound but at a loud volume it stops sounding, it's weird, all the buttons turn on but suddenly the sound goes away
@@pacoparedes4513 no sound what so ever.Mine buttons also turn on and it looks like its working but when i plug my guitar..nothing..Sound only works if i connect my phone with audio jack and play music on my phone..but guitars dont work..and mine is almost new..i have it maybe for 3 months and i play it first week than i moved to another apartment and stop playing and 2 weeks ago i try to play a bit but..0.On yours i think its a volume "button" broken..it has some tiny electric connection.Try to unscrew the top of amp and try to clean it,move it little bit..maybe it works.But i feel sorry for the money i gave for this garbage

Scooter Deecee oh no i unplugged it and tried it again and it wouldnt work so i took of the plactic peices and the battery was misplaced sure i got electrocuted but at least i fixed it right?

Yes that sounds like the problem. Of course you can check it for the proper DC voltage to be sure.

I really like the way this thing sounds, but have been having power issues for the last half a year. Looks like it has kicked the bucket now, as I'm getting no power, even though the brick shows that its getting enough juice. I think I'm done with this company, at least for now.
LOL not working anymore WTF...Got continuity on the switch and 10 V on the plug ..tried the Factory Reset again which worked but not this time...Time to shitcan it I guess..

Replace the power cord that goes to the wall socket from the adapter. It should work.
That's really disappointing you have all 8 corners reinforced and a shitty component like a rocker switch fails, what makes it worse is that Blackstar claims there are no user serviceable parts inside in other words send it back to us & we will fix it for a price hardfaced f*****s.
