I have been collecting denim jackets, skirts, shirts, shorts, skorts - all of it, and mostly second hand and vintage - since the beginning of 2020 and I am thirlled that denim on denim has become so fashionable because I feel it is my element
This style underneath a dress or skirt is the only way to get use from our old skinny legged jeans. They look so tired to me but cuffed and under a standout dress/skirt I can see it happening in my world! The shoes will always be what brings it forward for me . Great video!
I hated to see them go. It was the only time jeans even fit me. Those high rise fit right under my breast! Didn’t like them when they were popular in the 80’s either! I am very petite and those pants that fit that way, where do you put all the material that you get when you sit down! Yuck!
I did as well and and asked my adult daughter for her opinion. We have different styles, she's much more classical than I am. Her feedback. "I so hate those pants, but they look amazing on you. They're a keep" 😊
I'm petite, so I love purchasing cropped jeans, because they fit me just right as regular jeans, without the need to hem/cut them! 🤣😂 The barrel-leg jeans are just too clowny to me. 😛 I have a maxi chambray A-line dress that I absolutely LOOOOVE. It's also super comfortable. Just recently purchased a sleeveless denim snap button-up shirt dress (similar to 15:08) that I can't wait to wear! And found a really cute pair of denim overalls. Denim is one trend that I am excited about and fully embracing this year!
I love all types of denim and loved the bustiers etc but not wearing a jeans underneath a dress/skirt. I don't see myself with that kind of style. I will definitely do without 😊 thanks for your great tips and content as always xx
What an amazing video Leonie! You have found so many beautiful pieces in all possible categories of denim. My personal favourite for spring: denim dresses. So easy and comfortable, especially here in Greece with the high temperatures. And I love your shirt!
You my lady gets five stars for putting the denim out there in a creative way . I loved the unique ideas you presented, no one else satisfied my craving for denim dressings like this vlog . I love denim dresses, shirts, blouses, skirts ,cropped jackets, these I can wear all seasons as well as every where. I mix denim with all types of fabric in my wardrobe too.OH, my the possibilities!!!
I think a dress over jeans looks best when either the dress is quite short, or the dress buttons down the front and you leave a lot of those buttons undone.
Barrel jeans are my absolute favorite these days! I find that they *really* suit my body type which is a smallish waist but a bit wider at the hips. My problem has been finding a pair that is long enough as I'm 5'11" BUT I've found them for anyone in my situation: Agolde's LUNA HIGH RISE PIECED TAPER. They make my hips look super slim and the length is fantastic.
PS I love denim aprons to wear when cooking or making art and even have denim tablecloths & kitchen towels. I like patches of different wash denim, e.g. a patch pocket sewn onto a tote bag
Leonie, I am LOVING your videos and they are so spot on with the latest fashion trends! Thank you so very much for what you do! My fave denim trend this year (and there have been many!!) is the Barrel Leg Jean. Living in Honolulu, it was almost impossible to find it but I did manage to get my perfect pair online. I am 71 years old, 5'3", slim built, and wearing this jean with a tighter denim vest with cowboy boots, and LOVING that vibe! So far, I have NOT seen one person wearing this Barrel Leg Jean even when I went to Fort Worth Stockyards a couple of weeks ago. Am I the only one loving this amazing jean???? LOL!
Love love love denim! Very inspiring options, thank you. Loving the denim poncho and denim suit ideas. Recently bought Zara two toned wide leg jeans and they give me a whimsy feel with some extra style.
I loved the JW Anderson pants that had the skirt like flap over the front... I could see doing that same thing using jeans and a short wrapped style skirt to pull that look together... Thanks for another great video, Leonie...😊
Great video! I love wearing jeans underneath a dress or skirt, especially skirts I've hand-dyed myself, with a head wrap. I've been wearing that style for years, changing different elements of it. I'm so glad you talked about it. I only recently started watching fashion videos because I felt like I needed to update or check out what was going on. I heard someone else say that this look was a terrible trend and I felt it was somewhat judgmental. I'm open to adding some new pieces but I'm definitely going to be wearing my jeans under my skirts/dresses, it's my personal style. Thanks!
When I think of jeans under a skirt , it makes me think of when my daughters were around ten and would wear jeans under a tutu or a ruffly fluffy dress. A look that’s super cute on a child though! 😄 I really love barrel jeans, GAP are my favorite. Love your videos♥️
Great video Leonie! I was feeling nostalgic when you featured the denim sets and tailored jackets, I swear that I had the same pieces. I need to try the jeans under a dress idea, I keep forgetting about that recent trend. It looked great on the women you featured wearing it!
So thorough, so well done. Love the visuals. Purchased a midi, fit-n-flare, grey denim dress on sale at Anthro - dramatic, a bit western, swishy skirt, worn with brown cowboy boots & voila!
Still sitting on the fence. I recently thrifted a long dress which is way too long and I did try it over a pair of trouser which I didn’t hate but not truly sure. Will get back to you on this one. Denim on denim I love.
I have a spaghetti strap long denim dress with a fitted bust and a slit in the back that I wear a couple times a summer. I've probably had it 20 years and it's always in style. I also thrifted a long chambray dress with a smocked bodice a couple years ago, that's great on really hot days. Another classic!
I like the pants under a dress look.. I did that before.. I may do it again..but I prefer fitted under something fared or fuller. Definitely dark wash, classic..
Shall be holding on to my skinny (not painted on) denim jeans to wear under my shirt dresses and recently restyled an old pair of balloon jeans (that look like new) into a midi skirt as love the detailed, yoke insert they have. Also shall be wearing a sleeveless maxi chambray dress whose closure is pewter buttons which has a coordinated short sleeved vest (eons old but excellent condition) and am on the hunt for a jumpsuit in a similar fabric. On that note; I'm 76 years old and have to say, I'm glad I held on to the pieces that I did but oddly enough I never have owned a denim jacket. Thanks for the inspiration Leonie.
I love denim 💙 I just bought some barrel leg jeans in black from COS and I love them so much I have a dark blue pair on their way to me. They’re a subtle arch shape but very flattering in my opinion. I have two denim shirts but I’m on the lookout for another one this winter. I’ve always liked the Sezane Will jacket but I can’t decide which shade denim to get. 🤔 And I saw a denim vest on Me+Em that I want but it’s to $$$.
Man, I bought that urban revivo Shacket that you’re wearing. It is beautiful in person, but it was about 10 inches too small in the waist. I have it for sale on Poshmark size XXXL
I loved the 90's Jean on Jean. I never stopped wearing my 👖 jeans. I can't see myself ever giving them up. I know everything comes back into fashion, but with Jeans never go out.
I love everything denim, love double denim. Basicly I have a very casual lifestyle and wear denim jeans most days during cooler weather. Love the denim schaket. I do not currently have any denim skirts or dresses but love those as well. As for a dress or skirt worn over pants....not for me.
I have some barrel pant corduroys and I agree, they are surprisingly flattering. While I love and own many wide leg jeans and trousers I find the boot cut flare hard to wear and wonder if anyone else does--in the sense that if you are already a pear shape, the flare does something sorta weird in over-exaggerating the small waist/larger hip ratio. If that's what you wanna do it's great, but I find just a wide leg so much more flattering on my tall pear-shape figure.
I have a beautiful denim outfit. It is my split hem jeans with my Massimo ruffled, chamois colored shirt and my red-tab Levi jacket. Every time i wear it, I get many compliments. I have a small cognac, saddle purse and my pointed toe, suede cognac ankle boots. Don’t think I could do better any better..
I love the barrel legged jeans, but they're still pretty expensive for me. I have a pair of Levi's that gives me a hint of the same shape, and I've had them forever. I also thrifted a pair over a year ago that are more like "harem pants"--not barrel-shaped per se, but in the ballpark. However, I am tall so when I sit down the elastic around the ankle gets stuck around my knees, which is not the look. I'm just too tall for that pair (just got an idea, what if I took the elastic out of the ankle? I might have something.)
I really like the ballon jeans, however, I don't think they will last for long. In one or maximum two years they will not be on trend any more I think. So I will miss them out and will have just fun by watching other people wearing them 😊
Nix on the jeans underneath a dress for me. I find I like simplicity on my legs, maybe because I've got a long torso relative to my legs. It's good on other people though.
What a great video, so many tempting beauties, I love all 😜😂. Wearing denim under some dresses, denim sets, structured denim, suits, west, i might get some of the pieces for fall. SF it’s never cool. The only thing I definitely not going to wear is barrel jeans ( i don’t find it flattering, to any women 😳🤪 the name says all lol 😂 and no to cropped jeans, I just don’t like. Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Wearing jeans under a dress is not something I’d do. And no to barrel jeans. Other than that I’m open to the rest. I recently got a denim shirt dress that I can’t wait to wear.
Denim anything will always be my favorite. Put a ruffle, puff, or bow on it - take my money. As I’m cool toned, gray haired, and blue eyed, it is my most flattering color. It’s a no for me on jeans under dresses.
I just never understood the pants under a dress, too fussy. Leggings or tights seem natural. I am loving the denim dresses and jumpsuits for sure. You didn't mention denim shorts? In or out Leonie?
In my head denim under dresses look good, but these examples are not my cup of tea, i realised when i think of jeans under dresses, I'm thinking of shirt dresses, so one can wear the dress like a long cover up leaving it open or buttoning down to the waist and leaving the rest of the dress unbuttoned. I think that will be really chic
Reminds me of back when Sandra Bernhard wore a bustier on David Letterman. It was pretty groundbreaking at the time. Letterman asked, "What IS a bustier, exactly?" And she said, "Well, it's to boost your yea's!"
Question for women, I am a straight male who wants to dress more feminine, by that i mean more universal things like hoodies tshirts sweatshirts and possibly knitwear or leggins nothing else My question for you is if i was to incorporate more feminine clothes in my style, would you find me less attractive or be uncomfortable around me?

That's awesome! It's great when your personal style aligns with current fashion trends.
This style underneath a dress or skirt is the only way to get use from our old skinny legged jeans. They look so tired to me but cuffed and under a standout dress/skirt I can see it happening in my world! The shoes will always be what brings it forward for me . Great video!
Yes I love your thinking x
I rocked pants under dresses in the 90's and want to start doing this again, but feels so frumpy now! Definitely better with skinny jeans
That’s a great point and adaptation. ❤
Love this!
I hated to see them go. It was the only time jeans even fit me. Those high rise fit right under my breast! Didn’t like them when they were popular in the 80’s either! I am very petite and those pants that fit that way, where do you put all the material that you get when you sit down! Yuck!
I ventured out of my comfort zone and got a pair of barrel leg jeans. They are so flattering and have become my favorite jeans!
Don't you just love it when you do that and it works out? Good on you x
I did as well and and asked my adult daughter for her opinion. We have different styles, she's much more classical than I am. Her feedback. "I so hate those pants, but they look amazing on you. They're a keep" 😊
I love them as well
I love the versatility of a denim dress! I especially love using mine as a duster coat❤
Great idea!
I love denim on denim - easy and done 😊 great outfits ideas! Thank you Leone ❤
I love double denim too - so glad you enjoyed this video x
I'm petite, so I love purchasing cropped jeans, because they fit me just right as regular jeans, without the need to hem/cut them! 🤣😂 The barrel-leg jeans are just too clowny to me. 😛

My favourite jeans are my free people barrel jeans. I like to wear mine with a more fitted top. I know they’re not for everyone but I love them.
Yay!
I love them too
I love all types of denim and loved the bustiers etc but not wearing a jeans underneath a dress/skirt. I don't see myself with that kind of style. I will definitely do without 😊 thanks for your great tips and content as always xx

Can’t stand dresses over trousers, good to see the cropped kick flare jeans back in they’re very flattering. Great ideas and inspiration X
Yes! Thank you!
Great ideas. I appreciate that you always show lots of examples of the style and links. Love denim!!!!
Thanks so much!

I like the jeans under dress or skirt. Ive never thought of that. Im definitely going to try that ❤😊

@Renee..I do the long dress over jeans at festivals, versatile and very comfortable!

Dress over jeans looks amazing
Hi Leonie ! Great video! I love denim in all its iterations ❤your reference photos were fantastic Thank you , Barb

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad the video brought back some good memories for you.
Keep all your denim
It all comes back around
Well most of it.
Great video
Everything was lovely
So thorough, so well done. Love the visuals. Purchased a midi, fit-n-flare, grey denim dress on sale at Anthro - dramatic, a bit western, swishy skirt, worn with brown cowboy boots & voila!
I've always worn my dresses over my jeans. I love the style. Thanks for another great video Leonie.
Love that!
I'm a fan of darker, fitting denim
Nice x
Still sitting on the fence. I recently thrifted a long dress which is way too long and I did try it over a pair of trouser which I didn’t hate but not truly sure. Will get back to you on this one. Denim on denim I love.
Good on you for experimenting with different styles - it really can be fun!

Sounds great! Def worth holding onto great pieces like your denim dress x
Loved the introduction to a new web-store in NZ, Decjuba. Great overview of all things denim! Love the dresses and skirts!
Yay! Yes Decjuba is originally from Australia but is very popular here in New Zealand too. :)
I like the pants under a dress look.. I did that before.. I may do it again..but I prefer fitted under something fared or fuller. Definitely dark wash, classic..
It's a cool style choice, and it's great that you're willing to experiment with different looks!
I just got some amazing pointed denim with hardware flats. I can't wait to style them.
Sounds great!
Some of the examples of pants under skirts were great! Inspirational enough for me to try it!
OMG som many wonderful nice denim clothes. Thank you Leone❤
Thank you! 🤗
Hard pass Denim under a dress. 😂 passed in the 90s too. 😂 great video

You name it: a styling step to far 😁🙃😉 great video, as always 👍👍👍

Denim washes well, and irons out nicely 🔮
I love denim alot. Thanks for all the outfit combinations. Great looks. 😊😇

It’s surprising how flattering the barrel leg jeans are right?
Man, I bought that urban revivo Shacket that you’re wearing. It is beautiful in person, but it was about 10 inches too small in the waist. I have it for sale on Poshmark size XXXL
Oh nooooooo that's such a shame - sorry to hear that :(
Excellent video, dennin is the best fashion in the world, thank you so much.
Couldn't agree more!
I loved the 90's Jean on Jean. I never stopped wearing my 👖 jeans. I can't see myself ever giving them up. I know everything comes back into fashion, but with Jeans never go out.
I love your Denim Skater jacket. Must get one.
I appreciate your compliment on the jacket! It's one of my favorites.
You always have such different great content. Loved this one. These pieces were amazing. Great ideas.
That's great to hear - thanks Barb x
Absolutely loved this video … thanks for all the inspiration!
So glad!
I love the next level denim options!

Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for a fantastic denim video ❤ denim my favorite 💙
You’re welcome 😊
Are you very sure about the fabric on top of fabric layer? Like jeans under skirts? What patterns wd be good?
This was a good one I really enjoyed this one.
So glad you enjoyed it :)
Where is your dark denim jacket from? 😍
I bought a denim Louis Vuitton scarf and belt. Great video!
Fabulous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank for these tips very informational
My pleasure!
I have a beautiful denim outfit. It is my split hem jeans with my Massimo ruffled, chamois colored shirt and my red-tab Levi jacket. Every time i wear it, I get many compliments. Aww that's very kind Sandy thank you x
I love your content Leonie! I'm a bit confused, we have just started autumn in New Zealand, is this directed at your American subscribers?
Yes 90% of my audience is based in the northern hemisphere!
@@Thestyleinsider. well this is good for us in Nz haha! we get a good heads up on what's ahead for us, thanks so much x
I trust anything you say in this video, giving as soon as you start your wearing that beautiful denim top. I wish I had it. Dark denim suits you
Oh thank you!
Barrel jeans excite me the most😊
Love tailored denim 👍👍
Nice!
I love your outfit!
I really like the ballon jeans, however, I don't think they will last for long. In one or maximum two years they will not be on trend any more I think. So I will miss them out and will have just fun by watching other people wearing them 😊
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's always fun to watch fashion trends evolve.
That's when I'll be thrifting a pair for myself :D
Ich liebe Denim. Danke Leonie
Me too x
Love ❤️ your Video always .👍🥰
Nix on the jeans underneath a dress for me. I find I like simplicity on my legs, maybe because I've got a long torso relative to my legs. It's good on other people though.
Wat above unfinished denim hemlines?
I’m very petite but I love the barrel leg as many are crop so no need to cut I’m 4ft 11
Yes 🙌🏼
yes
Can we talk about the $19,000 Valentino jeans! They are absolutely stunning.
Have a blessed day🙏❤️
Thanks for sharing x
Good work 🎉
Love them
I love denim jeans😍 but those barrelstyle jeans/trousers looks awful to me. Like the legs are mis shapen 😂
I definitely thought the same at first but they have really grown on me :)
Wearing jeans under a dress is not something I’d do. And no to barrel jeans. Other than that I’m open to the rest. I recently got a denim shirt dress that I can’t wait to wear.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Your denim shirt dress sounds fabulous!
Denim anything will always be my favorite. Put a ruffle, puff, or bow on it - take my money. As I’m cool toned, gray haired, and blue eyed, it is my most flattering color.
It’s a no for me on jeans under dresses.
“Take my money” 😂
I remember wearing jeans 👖 under big dresses with combat boots. 90s❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤so cool
Thank you so much!
Love this vid denim is my fave love dresses skirts jackets shirts ❤️❤️❤️👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
YAY!
I just never understood the pants under a dress, too fussy. Leggings or tights seem natural. I am loving the denim dresses and jumpsuits for sure. You didn't mention denim shorts? In or out Leonie?
Yes shorts are definitely in - just ran out of time to include them really. Mostly longer Bermuda style x

Denim is never out of style… invest in denim!😊
Absolutely! Denim is a timeless classic that will always be in vogue.
Most of these styles are really cute. I just think the barrel leg jeans make everyone look bowlegged, so no thanks on that.
Totally get what you mean about the barrel leg jeans. They're not for everyone, but it's cool that we've got new choices. Thanks for sharing x
I'm 19 and I wanna be in style so bad but the baggy jeans just aren't giving for me. They're not flattering at all I need skinny jeans to come back 😢
Question for women,
I am a straight male who wants to dress more feminine, by that i mean more universal things like hoodies tshirts sweatshirts and possibly knitwear or leggins nothing else
My question for you is if i was to incorporate more feminine clothes in my style, would you find me less attractive or be uncomfortable around me?
Would I find you attractive? Depends more on you (and HOW you wear them) than the clothes!
Uncomfortable
very entertaining
Yay
What a Wonderful Video of Beautiful Lady ❤❤❤
Thank you x
Absolutely not on the jeans under dress look! Bet I don’t see one person in Michigan succumbing to this trend. Lol! I have yet to see anyone even wearing a long denim skirt, although I have one!
Why don’t you wear yours? 🤔
Step to far
Dark denim looks like work wear
Is that good or no?
@@Thestyleinsider. I don't know. Just noticed that. Maybe in spring light colour looks more organic.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve never been in to denim on denim. Not sure why. Feels like too much. No jeans under dresses. Reminds me of cold days in kindergarten.
😁
No jeans under dress or skirt
No way jeans under skirts or dresses 🙀
It's all about personal style and comfort, but I totally get where you're coming from!
They do this in Japan all the time. It's not a new trend and it's pretty cool
