Even though it seems to have gotten perfectly wrapped up with the DNA evidence and a conviction (and rightfully so).... I'm STILL very disturbed by the whole Doug DaSilva part of the story. The fact that he had a direct connection to the same trailer park, his bizarre action at her very doorstep with the candle ceremony, his apologies, his use of that smiley face on that job application... and lastly, that he had been a suspect in another homicide case. He may not have been Kay's assailant...but he seems VERY guilty of something...like perhaps that OTHER case, ...and by his guilty conscience was looking for overdue punishment and or redemption for THAT crime when he immersed himself in Kay's case.
Police should definitely have followed up on that possibility. Here we learn only that he more or less vanished, and that his ex-wife doesn't know where he is....but of course police can find anyone if they want to.
Like I said...very disturbing, because that other case was likely never solved, or that fact would surely have been mentioned in this story.

Nothing this serious, but the 2 years I spent fighting a lying cop, a POS Prosecutor, a judge that didn't care I was innocent, went thru 3 lawyers before one would listen, One lied numerous times, eat at me everyday, all day, till I finally beat it. Imagine being in prison for this crime. Knowing you're innocent, having to look over your shoulder 24/7, then living with a brand on you forever you don't deserve.

I think DeSilva was the one who knocked on her door. But it was Escridge who did the crime. And the fact that both those men showed up at her trailer that night, and looked similar is just an unfortunate coincidence. It’s believable that the victim assumed they were the same person, and that when DeSilva was at her window, that was likely the clearest look she got between the two men. And I think after DeSilva heard about the attack at the same trailer that same night, and that the police sketch looked like him. I think he knew how bad it looked for him, and that’s why he cared so much about the real person being found.

I even have them on me if I'm just going to get the mail. Which is honestly horrible when you think about it that I need to do that but as a young lady, I'm not willing to take the risk of walking to the mailbox or the corner store unarmed. Because I know (sadly from personal experience) that the one time I would go somewhere unarmed is the one time I would need something to defend myself with. So despite the rather decent chance of police seeing the blade and stopping me I would still rather have it and never need to actually use it than need it but not have it. The nice thing is that where I live police seem to understand that and are respectful of my choice to open carry my blade since in theory anyway being able to see that I am armed like that a would be attacker is a little more likely to reconsider any attempt to confront me than they otherwise would

Ok but how the hell did the guy obsessed with the crime know about the smiley face part of it? Why would he have so much compassion about someone he didn't even know, and risk being wrongfully charged? Very odd.

I think DeSilva was the one who knocked on her door, and then Escridge was the one who raped and tried to kill her. That's why she was adamant that it was DeSilva. They were working together

Right here is when I still feel like there is more story to this crime and the man. Yes science don't lie but there is something about this man. Then he is nowhere to be found....again bizaar.

How did she, how was she able to continue with her life..after that extremely traumatic ordeal. This lady is exceptionally brave.

The two men are the same; there aren't two men. There's just no way the "first man" drew a smiley face on the police application form by coincidence. No one draws a smiley face on a job application form, let alone a police application form. And no one being interrogated for a serious crime by the police asks for a job application form. It's absolutely the same man, or if not, they are connected.

*the same reason why he asked for an application to become a law enforcement official.*
*he's a seer. because 1) he wasn't the killer 2) the smiley face on the victim wasn't public knowledge 3) the killer's doppelganger drew a smiley face on the application he asked for, one can only conclude that the weirdo man who got down on his knees to pray was a mystic who wanted to use his skills in law enforcement to help solve crimes (and mysteries). the man had limited spiritual knowledge and vocabulary to properly articulate his gift and so he could only communicate through behavior.*

I was at Kaye Robinson's house earlier the night this happened with My Dad and my Sister, Kaye is a good Woman her Son Nick was my friend and she knew my Dad was a single Father and she would invite us over for dinner and plus Nick and I would get to hang out, and I had asked my Dad that night if I could stay the night but then being let down when he told me I couldn't, I really also wanted to stay because Nick had just started band classes in school and got to pick an instrument and it was a cool looking French Horn that he had just brought home that day and we had so much fun and were goofing around with it and were really probably driving our two Parents and my older Sister nuts but I remember it so clearly because it impacted me so much as a kid to realize that someone could be this Evil and to do this to such a good Woman, Kaye had all of this happen to her and is a Hero because while he held a knife to her throat and assaulted her and stabbed her and then cut her throat from ear to ear and she didn't make a sound to save Nick's life and I got to see my Friend and Kaye again and he did not Break that Woman she was still as Strong as before...
