Guilt had a huge part in my life coming from a Catholic religion. I have been wondering all my life if I was on the right path, good enough, perfect enough and felt not enough for many years. I wish every human being to come up in contact at a younger age with your teachings. My total gratitude to you Anita.

Well and all these priests and papsts and prophets that were preaching us guilt were actually pedophiles, thieves, murderers themselves. 😊

I feel guilty for self care, yet I care for others…and my house is spotless..yet my soul is often confused and lonely….I “needed” to be sick for years and was in and out of hospital…after reading Louise Hay…I learned about releasing the need for illness..This!….is spot on.I deserve to be well….I am working SO hard on this….Thank you.I am enough..as I am.Thank you Anita🙏💗🙏

I paused the video at 13.10 mins in to it to let that last sentence sink in. "It's keeping me small and preventing me from being who I came here to be." The number of times I've allowed guilt to wreck my day. I now know I came here to this world to create music. It's what I do - it's not my day job but it's what I do. It's taken me years to feel ok about it and shed the guilt and anxiety which led me to do what others expected of me rather than what I truly desired. I read your book, (and the things Wayne referred to in his book) and it was a revelation. Through listening to you and others (Wayne Dyer, Gregg Braden, Joe Dispenza, Sadhguru, Osho, Neale Donald Walsch, Bruce Lipton) my eyes have been truly opened. When I compose music I'm at my best when I improvise as I am truly in the moment and completely free. It's not me playing the guitar, it's my soul and I play whatever comes to mind. This is true liberation and freedom. Money cannot buy this feeling. And thanks you, and those others, I have really started to "close the gap" (as Joe Dispenza describes it) between who you really are, versus the face you show to the world - and I can now enjoy making music in a way I never could before. I even wrote an instrumental piece inspired by this "When I Awake" . Anita, long may your words continue to inspire those who choose to listen. Thankyou.

Anita is quite simply one of the most beautiful bright lights on the planet. I have been watching her videos for close to a year now and they have prepared me perfectly for this moment. I recently received a diagnosis (early stage, no symptoms, but I felt compelled to take myself to the hospital after a dream and a perceptive doctor took a second look at me and ordered a scan) and feel myself full of the joy of healing before I've even had surgery. The gentle lessons taught by Anita (as well as those of Dr. Dyer, Louise Hay, Joe Dispenza, Greg Braden, Bruce Lipton and Mingtong Gu) have shown me that I can heal myself holistically and through self-love and a clear mind and heart. Wishing everyone here health and happiness, especially for those of us who grew up dealing with family members who hurled abuse, were addicted and mentally ill. Thank you, Anita and also Danny! xo

Thank you so much Anita for all of your videos ❤️ I found your book Dying To Be Me and the accompanying meditation CD back in 2012 just before an ex boyfriend’s mother had asked to see me when she moved into a hospice and was dying of lung cancer. I was diagnosed with invasive melanoma last October. I got busy with radical diet changes and was very fearful for the first 6-7 months. Then one day, I noticed your book on my bookshelf. I googled you and found your videos. They have been a great help and support for me. I resonate with what you say. I am a people pleaser too, and have started to make big changes by facing my fear and starting to take care of me first instead of putting everyone ahead of me. I just wanted to share to let you know that what you do is making a big positive difference in my life and my journey. Love and blessings to you and Danny ❤️ And on a side note, I love your unicorn mug you had in one of your videos.

I had that same sigh of relief when I had cancer cause I thought finally I have an excuse to not take care of everyone but unfortunately I didnt take the opportunity to care for myself. I kept taking care of everyone else. Now I'm dealing with another serious issue and I cut my family off only for a month, cause I didn't want to make the same mistake twice but they are harrassing me and it's making me so sad. I finally draw some boundaries but no one is listening. My family is also sick so I do feel guilt but how can one sick person help another. I've been taking care of these sick people for over a decade. thanks for this talk. xo

Dear Anita, You brought up a very important matter and called for all of us to take good care for ourself, without needing or requiring an illness. Guilt is also my long-life companion and I am learning to shake it off. My very dear 94 year old mother passed over a year ago...and I am still struggling to take care of myself, to focus on me, to “self-love” without feeling guilty. Please continue to visit this topic and expand your talk on a regular basis. Much Appreciation!

I have been unwell with a flu then several colds and then sick bug for total of two months now... Got no energy left to do anything anymore. I have been putting myself not only second but probably about fifth in my life :( Your words ring so true to me... it’s hard to change... feels like I need to rearrange my whole life again which right now just feels too exhausting. I feel if only I had lots more energy and then I could fix my relationship, my problems, be better at work, make more money, look after my pets better, clean my house better and make it prettier... And as you say, it all keeps me so small. Thank you for your words ❤️

Very important. When you say you were "programmed" to feel guilty, I thought of the social dimension of the problem. It's important that we free ourselves from what enslaves us. And what enslaves us may come in a big part from the unhealthy relation between the social and psychological worlds. Most of the current societies are based on unequalities, and therefore imprison us in an hegelian master-slave relation. Individually, it's important we learn how to go beyond that destructive relation. So thank you !

Such a beautiful talk, Anita!! Thank you 💞 My experience with guilt has been such, lately, that has become a part of my navigation system. I know now that what feels like been blamed is my inner healer pointing at what deserves a deeper look, what is asking for more comprehension. If I sit quietly with guilt, I can see pass it and find the question that wants to be asked hiding behind it. Usually that question is as mine as it is theirs, so what starts like a negative feeling ends up guiding me in the direction of my wiser self. Guilt, I think, comes from disowning the limits of our understanding. Once I let curiosity sit in instead, I don't feel threatened or accused anymore by other people's projections.

Thank you< Anita! This was SUPREMELY helpful! As you were saying, recognizing guilt is the first step. When you are a caretaker, you may not be living the life you'd like during that time. 10 years ago, I took care of my mother who had terminal cancer, and I put my life on hold. I didn't recognize that I was feeling guilt for not desiring to be her caretaker even though I loved her. The hospice nurse freed me of this guilt when she said, " It isn't your mother that you want to be gone; it's the situation. " What a relief to know that it is okay not to enjoy the circumstances you are in even though you choose to be there. There are so many layers of guilt. It IS tricky to discern when and how to care for yourself and discern what is selfishness, what feelings are guilt and what are not. Thank you for talking about this crucially important topic!!!!

Hi Anita. Good morning from Pune. Guilt has literally eaten me up as I was a doormat for people who said they loved me. And have done things that now has taken a big toll on my health. And due to that I wasn't my 100% for my kids. But now I have taken responsibility for my own life and health and stopped indulging in guilt. Even if it means many don't like the new ME. Beautiful topic Anita, I love how you presented on this issue that can be so paralyzing. Part of my thinks that it would be helpful for folks to refine the word Guilt to language that is more accurate. Guilt is so loaded with so much "pre-programming" that implies we are somehow bad or flawed. As I listened to you, what came up for me was "feeling unworthy" (or unjustified guilt) to care for yourself. True guilt or justified Guilt in my mind is intentionally knowing the wrong you are doing. I think nobody intentionally sets out to hurt others when they are seeking to be their authentic self. Authentic self is actively loving oneself in a way that allows us to be who we are at our core. Love this topic, thanks for sharing!

It reminds me of the word self- hatred. This is by far one of the most destructive emotion to overcome. It stems from our cultural and social conditioning. Religion plays a large responsibility in this regard. Shame and guilt are taught from an early age as a mechanism of control. Thank you Anita for showing light on this subject.

How true! Guilt keeps you small. It's not uncommon in a traditional culture such as in Asia especially for women. Like you, I was raised in an Asian culture. My mom put everyone first so she was always tired and cranky. I rarely saw her smile growing up. I unknowingly learned it, too. Culturally, Asian women are raised to be people pleasers and put everyone first; we women are taught that we are not important and I learned that too. I am learning to unlearn these behaviors and scarcity thinking habits.

Thank you sp much. You have changed my life. I just wasn't too day, when the wealthy spend money, no matter how frivolously, they are supporting people who have less than them. Whe the wealthy use a product , like a L.V. purse, which some are $6,000, that money goes to pay the people who grow hay and alfalfa, to the ranchers who have the cows, to the person who prepare the hide, to the person who prepares the dye, to the person who are the designers, to the person who sees these purses, to the sales person, to the wealthy person, and so forts. Actually it's a lot longer, but basically poor people benefits from when the wealthy's spending sprees. Think about that with everything; cars, airplanes, tour guides, spa technicians, hair salons, restaurants, etc. When people criticize the wealthy, to me they're just very jealous. Jealousy is a negative feeling, and one physics law is that there cannot be two things in the same space. When you're feeling a negative thought, you can't have the feeling of love. Also, wealthy people are there, because they believe they deserve to be wealthy, if they start feeling guilty for being rich, they'll lose their wealth - it happens all the time. ALL the wealthy people I personally know, and even the ones I don't know, they ALL give a lot to the poor. Some give millions of dollars away all the time. I don't see too many middle class or poor people give millions of dollars away... It's our responsibility to live life to the fullest, and enjoy what you live doing, passionately help others, even if it's not money right now, and just give to people who need it more... 😊

Thank you, Anita, for this video, especially the examples ( re your moving to U.S and the other example of the person questioning your flying business/first class). Examples help me relate it to my life.
I think that the individual who criticized your spending money on flying comfortably was believing in 'shortage consciousness' (that there is only 'so much' money/resources to go around). I listen to Abraham Hicks often and have come to believe that there is so much abundance which we have the power to create, and me having abundance does not keep it from someone else.

So I understand

Isn't it amazing that we have to 'look sick' to be believed! ...until someone else, unfortunately, ends up in the same situation & soon understands. Teaches us to listen to others better, too, though.
So, I just took care of me anyway regardless of their disbelief &, sometimes, anger for not doing what they wanted. You get used to it even though it's weird. Interesting who peels away & who sticks around. Go for it! Start saying 'No, I can tell it would be too much for me'. I know I feel loads better for it! Too, it turned into a relief for the pushy ones to go away, really.
My case is looooong term elder parent dementia care but essentially same reactions from others because I'm 'not the one who is sick' but people have no clue how much it wares the caregiver down. Still, I'm not going to end up in an ambulance like other caregivers if I can help it. I say 'no' A LOT, eat super nutritious foods, but could sleep more. My bod is still taking a hit after 15+ years of heavy stress but I do what I can & not what I can't....except paperwork I can't escape.....
      Hang in there.
YOU ARE WORTH SELF CARE JUST AS MUCH AS THE AMOUNT YOU WANT TO PLEASE OTHERS. More, frankly.
      With you!

Hi Anita, I wonder if you identify with this. When Einstein gave lectures at U.S. universities, the recurring question that students asked him most was:
    - Do you believe in God?
    And he always answered:
    - I believe in the God of Spinoza.
Baruch de Spinoza was a Dutch philosopher considered one of the great rationalists of 17th century philosophy, along with Descartes.
    (Spinoza) : God would say:
    Stop praying.
What I want you to do is go out into the world and enjoy your life. I want you to sing, have fun and enjoy everything I've made for you.
Stop going into those dark, cold temples that you built yourself and saying they are my house. My house is in the mountains, in the woods, rivers, lakes, beaches. That's where I live and there I express my love for you.
Stop blaming me for your miserable life; I never told you there was anything wrong with you or that you were a sinner, or that your sexuality was a bad thing. Sex is a gift I have given you and with which you can express your love, your ecstasy, your joy. So don't blame me for everything they made you believe.
Stop reading alleged sacred scriptures that have nothing to do with me. If you can't read me in a sunrise, in a landscape, in the look of your friends, in your son's eyes... ➤ you will find me in no book!
Stop asking me "will you tell me how to do my job?" Stop being so scared of me. I do not judge you or criticize you, nor get angry, or bothered. I am pure love.
Stop asking for forgiveness, there's nothing to forgive. If I made you... I filled you with passions, limitations, pleasures, feelings, needs, inconsistencies... free will. How can I blame you if you respond to something I put in you? How can I punish you for being the way you are, if I'm the one who made you? Do you think I could create a place to burn all my children who behave badly for the rest of eternity? What kind of god would do that?
Respect your peers and don't do what you don't want for yourself. All I ask is that you pay attention in your life, that alertness is your guide.
My beloved, this life is not a test, not a step on the way, not a rehearsal, nor a prelude to paradise. This life is the only thing here and now and it is all you need.
I have set you absolutely free, no prizes or punishments, no sins or virtues, no one carries a marker, no one keeps a record.
You are absolutely free to create in your life. Heaven or hell.
➤ I can't tell you if there's anything after this life but I can give you a tip. Live as if there is not. As if this is your only chance to enjoy, to love, to exist.
So, if there's nothing after, then you will have enjoyed the opportunity I gave you. And if there is, rest assured that I won't ask if you behaved right or wrong, I'll ask. Did you like it? Did you have fun? What did you enjoy the most? What did you learn?...
Stop believing in me; believing is assuming, guessing, imagining. I don't want you to believe in me, I want you to believe in you. I want you to feel me in you when you kiss your beloved, when you tuck in your little girl, when you caress your dog, when you bathe in the sea.
Stop praising me, what kind of egomaniac God do you think I am?
I'm bored being praised. I'm tired of being thanked. Feeling grateful? Prove it by taking care of yourself, your health, your relationships, the world. Express your joy! That's the way to praise me.
Stop complicating things and repeating as a parakeet what you've been taught about me.
What do you need more miracles for? So many explanations?
The only thing for sure is that you are here, that you are alive, that this world is full of wonders.
    - Spinoza

I think some people do make others feel guilty on purpose because it gives them a feeling of power over others. They also use third parties, e.g. children or elderly people, to guilt-trip their chosen ones, claiming that you are hurting *that* person (as opposed to simply not doing what the guilt-tripper wants).

Thank you so much Anita! This was one of your most poignant episodes so far and I love them all!❤️🌸✨This is such a huge topic and such a tricky thing to feel clear about. Thank you for giving tangible suggestions and exercises to work with. I find guilt being one of the biggest tricksters of all time, cause there is that part of us that thinks of it is a virtue of sorts. For me, I just notice a sudden knot in my stomach and then immediate high anxiety, often so strong I will back off from whatever I'm pursuing because the discomfort is too strong. Also in the midst of the situation I am often not even clear of the fact that I am feeling guilty. I know this is a massive block to freedom so thank you for going deep. Slippery bastard, that guilt. 😬😬😬

I understand what you are saying, and what you mean; however, no one really makes you feel anything. We "feel" it ourselves. No one makes us feel this or that. We choose to feel guilt or not. I love this topic, and it IS important to make the shift to BE who we are in the moment.

The NEED to be loved accepted validated etc. is the barrier to being in a prison or freedom . In this inner place of peace you are complete and whole and in need of nothing . In this freedom of no need there is also a release of guilt and trying to help others and doing everything to get others to love us !! When we stand in who we are all this guilt and need to fix others disappears. Your journey is only you on this road ..love is free and easy and trying in anything should be a red flag to step back and get still and BE. My identity is the very essence of our BEING

I come from a long legacy of women who don’t feel it’s ok to have fun. It literally killed all the women in my family at an early age. ~ With myself. I notice how I have all kinds of medical reasons to go easy on myself. But I have people around me who do not accept my limitations. They want me to perform like a machine & get very angry & hostile when I say, “ sorry, not this time”. ~ Unfortunately at this time I am so exhausted, I am disappointing many people around me, who cannot see I’ve run out of fuel .. and I cannot be the superhero I used to be. ~ At this time, I am working with my pet dog who is struggling with a medical crisis - it’s my job to be his round the clock nurse. 🐶🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ He’s my best friend, so I’m trying to pull him through ! ~ Best Wishes, to you ❤️🥰🌻💞💌👋🏼

Yes, absolutely, I have a hard time feeling good knowing there are people in the world who are in pain, so I try not to think about it! I would feel the exact same way if someone I knew was sick.

Dear Anita,I am sitting here in my living room listening to your video. Suddenly the word "BLAME" popped in my head . Speaking for myself,I am full of blame and resentment "you've done me wrong", "that's why I am stuck here because of you" ..... and so on. Can the topic "blame" and "resentment" be proposal for another coming videos? I hope it could free me and other listeners with understanding. My love Anita. Thank you.

Thank you for addressing this subject, as it has impacted me greatly throughout my entire life.
As much as I’ve worked on this within myself, I still carry such an ever-present burden about my decision to let go of relationships that were dysfunctional and/or extremely draining. My hearts desire has always been to be an expression of God’s unconditional love, and these situations have caused me much sadness, regret, and feeling like a failure.
Can you help me to find some peace in my heart about the past?

He passed at a young age of 48 years old. I want his memory alive he is communicating to me yet others are stuck in a different kind of grief. I feel guilt they are stuck and I am going on in life 💗🌸 They don’t want to hear of my seeing him. My understanding is that guild as such is not a problem. I think it's ok to feel guilty if we do something "wrong" (which could be translated as something against our ultimate benefit). That's a healthy guild. It will help us to reform. It is the same as the voice of conscience. It's there for a good reason. The problem is when guild is misapplied. In all these cases Anita is talking about, I see that the problem is in unhealthy guild, misplaced guild, not the guild as such.

In ACIM, there is a line which reads, "Of all the things that make you feel uncomfortable, you never thought your guilt was one of them"! ...........God Bless
