- Quite possibly my favorite MGMT record yet.
Typo made it past the editing stage: the title of the album is Loss of Life, not Mother Nature. My sincerest apologies to MGMT.

I’m a big MGMT fan so I’m biased but I think people who are essentially calling this album mid are really missing the point(s).
I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s boring, it’s not as focused as their older works. I think it’s easily one of their most focused records and the sound design/lyrics match the themes very well. It might not be as tightly arranged but If you compare it to something like oracular spectacular or their self-titled one - it’s way more intentional. It conveys pretty clear messages rather than just being full of vague psychedelic lyrics & quirky sounds. It’s pretty nice on the ears too

I COMPLETELY agree. There's a level of intentionality that makes this record focused on the record as a whole, less so on the individual tracks. I can understand why people may not like it, but that reason makes me love this album SO much.
