I've been using OctoEverywhere since pretty much the beginning and it's always been fantastic. There's nothing out there that does what it does so seamlessly and the guy who runs it is very responsive and professional. Very happy with it.
Another option for people who don’t mind setting up a vpn and use iPhone is octopod. Running an openvpn server on a pi is super easy. Once you get it all setup and can connect from your phone you simply install the plug in for octoprint and install the octopod app which is free and open source. you can then remotely control all your printers, view all your camera streams in real time with no limits and you can even monitor them from your Apple Watch. Yes you have to setup a vpn, but it’s easy and secure and you don’t have to pay any fees monthly.
That looks way better than all the others I have tried. I finally took the time to setup a VPN, and that solved all my connections into my network at once. But may go back to revisit this.
Hi Chris What a great job you are doing, you convinced my partner and I to go for it. Our prusa mini is celebrating its first day of work while the Mark3S is being assembled. We followed your installation protocol on the pi 3b+ without any problem! Thanks again for your great work. One question though, we have successfully launched a print from octoprint with tracking of instruments and print progress (time left/slicer). However, when we launch a print from the usb key for example (the pi 3b+ is always connected), octoprint does not update the status of the machine and does not follow the progress of the print in progress. I intend to manage everything on octoprint soon but is there a plugin that follows the printings launched "manually" when there are. Thanks again for your help.
Prusa has done some tricks to keep the printer sort of "locked" while Octoprint is active. They have done it so one doesn't conflict with the other. I think there might be a plugin that will track the M73 command that Prusa uses. That might do the trick.
I followed your tutorial on how to add another instance of octoprint to my second printer. But I cant make octoeverywhere recognize the second instance. It seems to think it is already setup, since I set it up with my first instance before. So both instances are recognized as one... please help
Hi Chris, how are you? I have an MKS E3D V1.1 card, when I try to use Octoprint my printing stops (Printer Hanged), I already changed the baud rate that the card connected from 250000 to 115200 and that did not solve the problem. Have you ever had a problem similar to using Octoprint related to stop printing after the process has started?
Yes, I have seen that before, it is usually something in the firmware that the printer is running. I have corrected it by upgrading the firmware in the past.
Hey Chris. I just have to say you are one of the best. I really like the way you explain things, direct to the point. I watched your video about bed levelling on Marlin 2.0 and you explained many things I wanted to know for a long time. I'd comment on that video, but comments are disabled there. Anyway, keep this great work.
Chris, I don't want to add more software to learn to use a 3D printer, and would prefer to use a remote, off site Cura, with direct links to octopi. What is the secure way to do this? I know that I could use an app like Teamviewer and log into a local PC on the home network and run Cura there, but is there another way that I can create a secure link from a remove Cura instance? (I also sent you a tweet)
@@ChrisRiley hi Chris, I believe if we can set up piVPN on the raspberry pi along side octoprint it would enable creating a tunnel to my grandsons house, it would not be difficult the piVPN would create a key which would be installed at my grandsons house in a client open on. I tried to install it on my pi with octoprint installed but it would not install. Looked like there was a block on creating new directories and adding the necessary files and I’m not sure how to get around that. Also, I don’t have a good feel for how much performance octoprint uses and how much piVPN uses. I have a pi 4 with 2gb which I believe should be powerful enough.
I don't know if you can help me as I'm doing this on a windows PC. I have a PI coming soon. I followed your instructions buy that plugin never installed even after a restart. When I went to try it again I couldn't find the plugin in the search.
I am not sure what is going on, but that usually means it thinks the plugin is installed. Make sure it is enabled in the install list, there should be a toggle switch.

Hi Chris, excellent explanation in all your tutorials. always worth seeing. After watching this tutorial, I have a query. Can I use this with Fluiddpi and Klipper or is there some other option?
Howdy. Great video. I just started using klipper for processing features like arc welder and input shaper. Anyway just wondering if this plugin would be compatible with Klipper /Fluidd ?
Chris, Where do you find the time to keep producing such good material? This is a great addition to Octoprint and will be very useful for anyone who is not always at home.

Thank you for sharing, Chris. In a very professional way. Actually I'm using a VPN server handled by my Assus router and the octo remote app on the phone.
