A street running train, that's a new one to me. We don't have anything like this where I'm from. As a kid, I would think it would be awesome!

The New Patticakes Speed limit is supposed to be 10 miles an hour, it looks fast just because the way my camera is set up he’s actually moving at a slow pace!!
Imagine you're just in your car, taking a turn, and you just see a train in the middle of the street.

Elwood IN, witch is north west in Madison County Michigan City has one of the Longest Street running trains in the Country!!

Elizabeth_958 michigan city is the south shore railroad. runs from south bend In to Chicago. they run passenger and freight service on that line.
when I was a kid back in the 50s..the south shore line ran down the middle of Chicago ave in east chicago,in for about 4 miles..and it was a double tracked mainline!!it was awesome!!!

How frequently do trains go through on that line?
about every 2 hours or so they will have trains lined up Mornings from what I see there are a lot of south bound trains Evenings or so a lot of North bound it just all depends on the day!!

Has there ever been a steam engine move on this stretch? I can't remember which steam engine it was a few years ago doing street running but it wasn't crawling it was moving good too.
Yes it was the 765 it's gone there 2 times in 2014 & 2015 and Unfortunately Could not make either one of those trips but Next its on!!

Great video!! Before reading the comments, I also thought he was going way too fast for street running. If he had to stop,
it would take a long while at that speed and if a derailment occurred, God help the people with homes on and close to the street!
wedge4hire Hi there thank you for taking the time to comment on my video truth be told the train looks like it’s going faster Then what it looks like in the video but the track speed furred the street running is 10 miles an hour from what I was told but if the train were to the derail on the street man that would be very devastating I hope that never happens
