@@Ale_ssandro Old comment, so maybe you know this already, but just in case... The curse of Will Wheaton is not just with Critical Role... Will is a huge geek, and loves tabletop games in general. However the dice gods seems to hate him to an extreme level.
He doesn't rolls exclusevly Nat-1s... His curse is far worse than that. If you watch any gaming show with him, you will see: he always rolls what is the worst in the given situation.
Many people think that is some kind of exaggeration, and it seemed Matt was one of them, but Will was a guest player in the first campaign - and he proved that the curse is real :D

This is one of my favourite moments ever. I've never managed this but I did get a 1-20-1 in my first ever game. Got my warhammer stuck in the wall, got it out and killed the opponent behind me in one swing, then got the hammer stuck in the floor
Time to invest in a light hammer, just in case.
I had a player roll a 1 to hit our enemy then roll a Nat 20 to hit our pc ally and downed it with the crit we still make a joke of it
Sounds like a Guts moment. In a sesh I had a couple days ago, I got a 20 to track a monster and the DM had it basically appear next to me, then I rolled a nat 1 to miss. Then I got a critical. Dice are weird sometimes.

@@Jthomas-gg9pi Except that one wasn't in the same session as the three nat 20s we're talking about. The poitn is that he had a string of three nat 20s, one right after the other in succession, in a single DnD session. A nat 20 he got in a totally different session is irrelevant.

I've seen a D&D story about a Barbarian getting a Nat 1 to *literally throw his brain at a Marilith* (because he was going to die next turn anyway but his Diehard feat gave him one extra action) and then *rolls 3 consecutive Nat 20s to insta-kill the party's Psion* who was also in the "line of fire". Led to this exchange:
*Psion:* "....You killed me."
*Barbarian:* **nods** "With my brain."
Talk about irony, huh? A *PSION* getting *killed* from *being hit by a brain* when the Psion *literally uses their mind/brain to fight*.

My friend Kevin's luck is all over the place, some nights, he will get 5 crits in a row, others he'll get 5 ones
Once i saw 3 Nat 1's in a row followed immediately by 3 Nat 20's, same encounter, same player, all different dice. Single rolls too, no advantage or disadvantage either.
Matt and Laura both look like they found out Santa was real when Travis rolled that third Natural 1!

Sama Faultner Fjord needed to get these bad rolls out of the way so he could save Beau from the borrowing monster during the live show
HAd this thing happen to me.
Was playing 40k back in 6th edition and i play World Eaters with Kharn the betrayer.
His special rule is that he ALWAYS hits on 2+ in melee no matter the modifiers( before 8th Edition usually the best most models could hit was on 3+; Kharn was One of the very very few that could hit on 2+)
ANd when he rolls 1's his Rule allowed him to reroll it, but if its again 1's, then he Hit one of the friendly models in range( So yeah Tehcnically Kharn ALWAYS hits something, even if it is your own models)
He has 7 attacks( wich in 40k for a single model is a lot) i roll 4 1's...
I reroll them...4 1's again...
Everyone else and my adversary was dumbfounded at this, than started laughing, cause what else can you do honestly?...
I really was not in a good mood that evening...

The best soldier in the galaxy, genetically and technologically brought to perfection, misses the broad side of a barn from 10ft away one in six times.
That's what happened to me, my rouge got enveloped by a shambling mound in a fight, and for her acrobatics save (Which she has expertise in may I add) she got 2 natural ones and went down. In which I threw 3 straight 5s in her death saves...first time I've had to suffer through a character death, and it was painful.
You just know laura locked that dice deep away, never to be seen again after that session

@@GZilla311 Laura has a special vault in an undisclosed location where she keeps the worst of the worst dice. The only other people who know of its location are the people who go there to bless it and keep the evil contained from spreading to the rest of the world. There's a rumor that each one has something done to them in order to keep them from speaking of the location, but I can't verify the truth of that.

Anyone else notice that EVERYONE had an epic reaction to the third nat 1, EXCEPT SAM!? He had the same shit eating grin before Travis rolled as he did when everyone was reacting to the realization. Either he switched Travis's die with a weighted one, or he can use the Force and he couldn't resist the temptation.

I feel your pain, Travis, I feel your pain. My group was facing off against a young black dragon and I rolled three natural 3's in a row, then a natural 2, and then to cap it all off, a natural 1
Sec Pendragon I don’t remember what exactly I rolled, but one time during a campaign, we were facing an army of I think undead dudes. I tried to cast Wall Of Fire to light em up, rolled wrong, and ended up setting two party members on fire instead(one of them died a little while later in the battle Oof).
@@Ourodracos I don't know about previous versions of D&D but Wall of Fire doesn't require a roll to hit you choose where to put it and can make one side of it do no damage and you only roll the damage for it if they start their turn next to the damage on the wrong side or walk into it.
I haven't seen him roll so many ones since he was trying to kill Ashly Burch's character in Liam's Evil campaign game

1) The most lighthearted HYWTDT I've seen.
2) Would crazy fun if Matt made either Yasha or Jester roll to see if they actually got him in there and they did get a natural 20. Complete Looney Toons moment.

Probably one of the few times (if ever) that Matt Mercer aka DM of Critical Role EVER broke character in sheer utter disbelief of Fjord's (Travis Willingham's) rotten luck.
I've also never heard Matt Mercer (voice actor of Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil and Levi Ackermann of the critically acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan) ever break character (as the DM of Critical Role) in such disbelief, he seemed really thrown back by Fjord's (A.K.A Travis Willingham, better known as the voice of Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist and Knuckles from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise) bad luck, I mean 3 natural 1's in a row is quite something

What about episode 100 of the first campaign where Grog also rolled 2 natural 1’s when he was trying to impress Scanlan. And Lionel had 2 natural 20’s.
I had one of my friends in a campaign a few years back roll 3 1's in a row, without any disadvantage, twice in the course of 3 sessions.
OWWW! The worst I've ever gotten was failing to land a single hit on a battle with a young white dragon, and my BABY OWL GETTING THE KILLING BLOW WITH A NATURAL 20!!! LIKE....WHY?

there was this game once where I needed 5 or higher on a d6 to get rid of a curse stalling my game. I rolled 4 eight times straight.

The worst I have ever had was when I played a Elf Assassin back in 3.5e, I rolled 5 Nat 1s while I was fighting some guards blocking my escape from a mansion I snuck into. After the 5th Nat 1 I just surrendered to the guards cause I knew escaping from a prison cell would be easier.

I mean, it happened to Grog when he fought the skeletons and got two natural ones, while the Bardbarian got 2 natural 20s. XD they may bed new characters, but the fails are magnificently on point!
I just LOVE how stoked Liam was about this. On the third he immediately looked over and he knew... this was something that should be celebrated.
The harvest close episode has been my favorite so far on my first watch through. All the hilarious RP antics the mighty nein got up was fantastic.
I think that Matt was going to have Jester and Yasha do a strength throw because he looked like he was about to say something but Travis rolled and it could not have gone any better

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but I love that Matthew decided to roleplay the prejudice of some people. When that woman was hit with the bag accidentally she at first kindly said it was fine, but Matt specified that she then looked up at Fjord and his facial reaction shows just how disgusted she was for a second and dragged her kid away. Not sure if anyone at the table caught that, it was a really good idea to remind them and us that half-orcs and other uncommon races face microaggressions still.
CritGemHero that’s such a good point. I saw her perspective change, but it never occurred to me that is would have been prejudice against half orcs.

That's an interesting take I hadn't considered. I noticed the expression change, but I thought of it more like she pretended like getting hit by a sandbag was no big deal, but when she turned away, let the facade drop. I like yours more.

Okay, but I'll one-up you. I once played a campaign as a town guard. Rolled so many natural 1's that I ended up not recognizing a thief, realizing he was hungry, then force fed him an entire orange, to which then I tried to CUT IT OUT because of a 1, then then I lost a gold piece in his stomach, and couldn't find the gold piece.
Liam just laughing and being happy cleanses my soul and waters crops.
