I always get goosebumps from this song!!! Nightwish knows how to do covers. Love Baby Nightwish, love Tarja. It's cool that you went back to it, thank you!!!
It's actually first time I've notifed someone is talking about the "twinkle sound" part, which I think is the best addition to the whole sound and elevates the song and its atmosphere maybe 10 times.
Baby Nightwish! This is year 2000 so Tarja 23, Tuomas 24, Emppu 22, Jukka 22 and Sami 24. They were young, but they put on quite a show even then. "You can always listen to both" You are a wise man. Music is an art, not a competition.
I love this song. Tarja will always be in my heart because she brought me into Nightwish. I remember, it was a day of 1999, i was in a cybercafe and the guy behind the counter was playing "Oceanborn" on the cafe's CD player. I remember well, Tarja was singing "Sacrament of Wilderness". After few songs, i was conquered, I said to him "Wow! But who is this band??" "Nightwish, a Finnish Metal band". I asked him to make me copies of the albums he had ("Angels fall first" and "Oceanborn") and I loved them. I understood it was THE thing i was waiting for, so i bought the original CDs, and so began my adventure with Nightwish. Sweet memory. Greetings from the South of France ;)
Tarja!!! 🖤🖤🖤 I love her dark warm voice and charisma. It was one of my most favorite NW songs in high school. I didn't even know it was a cover. I heard Tarja sing this song live at her Christmas concert last month. She was amazing. Her Christmas concerts have a wonderfully haunting and mysterious atmosphere.
Yeah, I think magical is an understatement. I mean c’mon, torches around the stage, “snow” falling from the sky, the twinkly keyboard sound, Tarja’s soaring voice…literally walking in the air. It doesn’t *get* any better.
Another great reaction to an awesome band 👏 Tarja has an amazing voice and some of these early NW songs are hauntingly beautiful with Tarja singing them. ❤️
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!!;😀👍👍👍🤘
whenever people are like what's even the big deal about Tarja's voice I wanna nudge them gently towards this video. It's not just her "operatic" skills, the special colour and warmth and depth in her voice is just so ❣❣ this is one of those songs where she really shines! i'm so happy you listened to it! also it seems like pulling a face at yourself in the mirror is a woman thing because all male reactors i've seen so far during that backstage moment are like 😶 whereas women immediately go 😏 because we universally relate to it apparently :D
I agree. It’s something about the tone of her voice that hits me like no other… She has that chocolate tone with a little bit of vanilla in the middle. It just shines!
Peter Auty original sang it for The Snowman movie in 1982. A couple of years later they wanted to redo it but Peter's voice had already broken so they got Aled Jones to do it in 1985. I just love this version 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥
Loved this song and the entire album "Oceanborn" when it came out 25 years ago and still love it today! It's still my favourite and by far most-played album by Nightwish and also one of my overall favourite albums. :) Considering that opera is absolutely not my cup of tea, it's somewhat strange that I immediately loved Tarja's operatic vocals when I heard "Elvenpath", the first song on their debut album. Beautiful memories.
This song, for those of us in the US, was aired with the movie "The Snowman" sometime in between 1983 and 1984 on some unknown kids channel at the time called Nickelodeon. Yeah, I'm dating myself. However, the song got major coverage here during Christmas time (like it did everywhere) as it was used in commercials for Toys'R'Us back at the time. That's what broke it here. The same melody was used by Iron Maiden in a couple of songs, but Nightwish was the one that really breathed life back into it after the original came out, as the original was released as a single.
Howard Blake made the original with soprano Aled Jones. There's a version where Aled sings duet with his younger self. There's only two people left in Nightwish from that time, Tuomas and Empuu.
Oh I've played this so many times! Yeah that is THE concert I'd go see, if I had a time machine. Tarja was magic, I wish she still sang same fashion. She's magic still, but with somewhat different fashion vocals. Nightwish added energy to some songs they reinvented, like this, "High Hopes" and "Over the Hills and Far Away".
December 29, 2000 in Tampere Finland is the exact date. I wish I knew what venue or to be clear WHERE IN Tampere this was filmed. I found a name but that does not help. Would someone who knows what that building is/was please let me know. Thank you. And thank you for the video. Tarja's warm round chest voice. Her soaring arias her use of vibrato to hold a note open and extend the words for dramatic effect just moves my spirit in such a way I can't help but love her. Other singers have their way and that's great but only Tarja hits in that way. Which is as it should be. No one else is anyone else but themselves. Same way no one wants to be a human jukebox. If an artist can't be free to be themselves and cover songs in their way, what is the point?
Check out of the comments a post by : "@hannuhanttamakela..." and provide your question about the venue to him coz I have a feeling he might get it right... 😉👍
Such a wonderful version of this song. I love Floor but this was incredible by anyone's standards. if you get the chance listen to Natalia Tsarikova sing it too. She has a beautiful voice perfect for singing this song. Even if you don't react you should listen. You will not be disappointed.
Oh this is the From wishes to Eternity Show 2000 in Tempere Finnland . Here see you the original Nightwish Band with Toumas Holopainen Keybord Empu Vuirinen Gitarr Tarja Turunen Vocal s Jukka Nervalainen Drums And Sami Vanska Bass. Check out this Show and maby you find more Songs for your Reaktion. 🤘🤘🤘
You don’t know who the original performer of this song is - I never knew until recently it is a cover! And I’m being a Nightwish fan half of my life literally 😂
I'm not necessarily asking for a reaction, but here is one you might like. IDA ELINA - TOTO AFRICA cover (The coments are very positive) She sings and plays the kantele, Finnish harp, our national instrument, a modern version of it. The original is much simpler, smaller, less strings, you can play it when it is in your lap. There are so many talented musicians even in your own small country like Finland, you know nothing about. I found out about Ida Elina just a few weeks ago when she was playing on TV, it was a Xmas concert.
Please consider reacting to Jarkko Ahola's version of Walking in the Air. He was the singer speculated to replace Marko when he left Nightwish. Jarkko Ahola - Walking in the Air (live) ruclips.net/video/WqBSDB5oHug/видео.html
I concur. Jarkko has an astounding voice. There are three versions of this song I love and can listen to over and over again: It's this one with the Nightwish twist to it, Jarkko's and the Finnish one by the members of Northern Kings (incl. Jarkko but without Marko, instead Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela joined them). So if you can't get enough of Walking in the Air check them out. Edit: Here's a link to the third version: ruclips.net/video/GJMAiAG_7Rc/видео.html
"From Wishes to Eternity" was one hell of a ride of raw Nightwish. And this is f-in great.
I always get goosebumps from this song!!! Nightwish knows how to do covers. Love Baby Nightwish, love Tarja. It's cool that you went back to it, thank you!!!
Tarja on this one (and Sleeping Sun) is just sublime
You got all I had to say, these two songs are so mystical and perfectly sang, getting only better after years.
She’s my sin is the very beast
Agree, her accent give these a special feel.
Tarja 🖤"Dead Boy's Poem" live from this same concert "From Wishes to Eternity" (2000) will blow your minds. 🚀
It's actually first time I've notifed someone is talking about the "twinkle sound" part, which I think is the best addition to the whole sound and elevates the song and its atmosphere maybe 10 times.
Her voice is how I imagine the angels sounded, lamenting Lucifer’s Fall. I really have no other way to describe it.
Yep, fake snow and it was pain in the butt to get it fall properly 🙂 My first time to work with Nightwish, back in 2000 here in Tampere
Thank you for being part of the team that prepared such an amazing show for us good sir!
The first Era is so magical! That's why it's my favorite! 😍🥰❤️
This entire concert, From Wishes to Eternity, is a must-see!!!!!! Now I'm nostalgic... I love Floor but first area with Tarja was something, really...

Yes very good cover and this is baby Nightwish. Even before Marco because that’s Sami on bass. ❤️🤘🎸🎻🇦🇺

It's such a beautiful version of that song 🙂
THANKS for some TARJAWISH !!!!!!!!!!!!
GODDESS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
Yes, looking these old Tarja´s songs the new Nightwish looking just cover band compared to.
On a moonlit Frosty Night, the starry sky is dark and infinitely bright at the same time. Tarja's voice is just like that.❤️
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!!;😀👍👍👍🤘

THE SIREN, WALKING IN THE AIR.....canciones hechas a medida de Tarja.........nadie las interpreta como ella
❤️❤️❤️
this song going super a grade in any standard. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful weekend.
The song is a classic, from the snowman,a Christmas favourite on TV,sang by a choirboy
It's litteraly a Christmas British lullaby 👌

My FAVORITE Christmas book/movie/soundtrack!
Howard Blake made the original with soprano Aled Jones. There's a version where Aled sings duet with his younger self. There's only two people left in Nightwish from that time, Tuomas and Empuu.
No, Peter Autry sang on the original soundtrack and did a better job.
Oh I've played this so many times! Yeah that is THE concert I'd go see, if I had a time machine. Tarja was magic, I wish she still sang same fashion. She's magic still, but with somewhat different fashion vocals. Nightwish added energy to some songs they reinvented, like this, "High Hopes" and "Over the Hills and Far Away".
this is the original Nightwish

Darling West feat Sivert Høyem. Late for the sky. You will be blown away
Is the lady who sang in the film the 5th element with Bruce Willis?
If anyone knows.
Do Nightwish ft Tony Kakko - Beauty and the Beast (live), that is the song that came after this!!
yes!! Jukka's and Tarja's run, such an iconic ending
Oh this is the From wishes to Eternity Show 2000 in Tempere Finnland

Try Tarja singing Kuolema tekee taiteilijan, Death creats an artist.Tarja sings it in Finnish language in Nightwish consert, but without the Band
Sammi was a great bass player also. Marko has such stage presence and a TERRIFIC singer.
Ginger with one . no two gray hairs, LOL (just kidding, don't run to mirror).
Way more than 2 🤣🤣🤣
You don’t know who the original performer of this song is - I never knew until recently it is a cover! And I’m being a Nightwish fan half of my life literally 😂
Just FYI - where the song is from. The Snowman (1982) - ruclips.net/video/5A3THighARU/видео.html
😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘🤩
Great sound. Great to look at. Can barely understand a single word she sings though.
I'm not necessarily asking for a reaction, but here is one you might like.

I concur too very much
Surprised you never reacted to Floor Jansen’s version of Lady Gaga’s Shallow??!! …… it is breathtaking !!
🙋🏻♂️ I prefer Floor Jansen 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾😊
It was OK. But I've been spoiled by listening to Floor too much.
get well soon 😔✊
I still find Auroras version from Nidarosdomen better.😎🇧🇻
Since you comment under every other Tarja reaction that you find the Aurora or Floor or whatever version better, I am not surprised. Cheers!
@@kazfarah7623 haha 😊
@@muumiveikko some people always be clowning in the comment section lmao
Jackie Evancho also has preformed "Walking In The Air". I believe you guys will both love it.
