Reminder, before this game, Twisted Metal did not have this tone or aesthetic. Before, the games were all goofy B-movie material not meant to be taken too seriously. This was the game that creeped your kid self out with incredibly uncanny, unnerving cutscenes before the campaign started and then dropped you into the match after a quick dark loading screen quote. And what happens? You expect something like Rob Zombie or hard rock to play to amp you up for the battle, and instead what you get is THIS; a track that tells you, "NO, IDIOT, THIS IS A DEMOLITION DIRBY TO THE DEATH. SURVIVE". Tonally, the games went from slight power fantasy and fun to openly acknowledging the chaos and death these tournaments bring.
@@civilwarfare101 David Jaffe saved Twisted Metal entirely after 989 Studios screwed up with Twisted Metal 3 and 4 when some of the developers of the first 2 games when they created Twisted Metal: Black.
Your comment hits the nail on the head. I grew up on Twisted Metal as a kid. I got around to renting this game and those cutscenes were such a shock to my innocent mind I took the game back and didn't look back... ...until I got older and started to appreciate this grim tone.
@@karmakrow6690 I was extremely young when is played this and I sucked at video games, now that I am a bit older with much more knowledge of how to play games etc. I'm sure I'll hold my own, but don't quote me on that. This game is difficult.
@karmakrow6690 the strategy is fight the weaker ones first and always go for the smaller health packs so you won't use up the higher ones that how I completed this level easily
@bytena7230 The best description I could give you of this music is somewhere along the lines of, some intense video game fight music, or something like that.

@Impalingthorn Right on, you make a valid point there.
Why I love Black so much lol. It's makes a story that was already dark and edgy into something even more so lol.

Yeah, I know. Now it seems more screwed than before.

Twisted Metal Black came out around 2 months before 9/11. If this game was delayed any further, there definitely wouldn't be shooting down any planes!
@shiruotakuno28 yeah, you make a valid point there.
Unless you have the PAL version as that was edited out, the PAL version was released December 7, 2001
This is the first battle theme in this game. THE FIRST ONE. And it only gets better from here :D Love this game.
I'm glad you do.
0:52 is when shit gets real, lol, the singers and everything, it's amazing
@ayumiyu657 Indeed you're right. I'm glad you like it.
1:34 IT'S KICKING IN !!!
Most certainly is kicking in, for sure.
Just listening to this gets me amped up and remembering how insane this game was.
Hey man, I feel the same way as well.
The start of many tournaments playthoughs...
Indeed you are right.
4:50 is where it's at, amazing.
Indeed it is.
Been playing this often lately.. Simpler times and this franchise meant a lot to me as a child
Those must've been the best of years for you.
@@karmakrow6690 I would never go back - but I've learned that there are some things you need to appreciate to the full extent before its gone
Right on my man.
I blame Drakengard for me not finding this game's ost disturbing.
I just think it's sick as hell.
@RegalRoyalWasTaken right.
Ah yes the sound of me failing to get a single kill and dying 24/7 to axel and sweet tooth
That's on the second one. Plus Axel is easy to kill on this one.
I can't imagine the stress you had trying to complete this level.
I hear you on that.

this music makes me hears brimstone suicide bomber scream and death scream after getting killed
Hmm, I can only imagine.

I wonder if it would be cool if there was a Symphony orchestra of this
Yeah, that would be epic.
David Jaffe games have good music in them lol.
I always listen to this on loop when I'm driving through really bad rain in the evening/ at night because it reminds me of the rain on this level
remember my first time taking down the plane and shitting my pants to the discovery of it
Yeah, it was a very neat feature the developers added.
@@karmakrow6690 wasn’t this feature removed in the PAL version?
@@elenasiegmanfan I believe so, at least for the PS4 version of the game.
I hope Twisted Metal ps5 is dark like Black
Hey, I had no idea there was 'a hole new other' Twisted Metal coming to next-gen consoles.
But yeah, I surely hope for that as well too.
Ìts been canceled
1:32 solo con escucharlo, me hace pensar en la segunda guerra mundial
Yeah, it does sound very World War theme-like, in a way.
They should play this kind of music and Rob Zombie for Twisted Metal season 2
@labased2539 Yeah, that would very much be badass.
Now I’ll wait for Twisted Metal Black gets VRC Battling car avatars very soon.
We need to take more time about this beauty.
Masterpiece 👍
That it most certanly is.
My favorite soundtrack through out the game can’t find this on iTunes
Thanks for the feedback. However, I don't see why any video game ost would be on iTunes.
ye i always love playing mr grimm darkside and manslaughter
this game is my favorite game play station is the best the game fits well with the music
Yeah, Twisted Metal Black certainly is the best PS2 video game. And the music sure does fit well with its dark and gritty atmosphere.

It's the best pick up and play game you can find on PS2 lol.
