    I love my Govee lights but i just find the app to be so unintuitive and difficult to figure out. Half of the posts in the Govee group I'm in online are people asking how to do things with lights cuz they cant figure it out in the app. I've had to ask several times myself for even simple things like setting lights to go on/off with sunrise and sunset. My Enbrighten lights have a super simple sunrise/sunset button but Govee makes you go through this convoluted Automation setup with multiple steps. I also have a Govee floor lamp and just changing the light settings to different color patterns is a pain. It's the main thing preventing me from buying more Govee products.

      Hey Adam, I do think Govee can put some more work into their app. I wonder if these ideas will help you:
      1. The Home Page in Govee's app will let you create shortcut buttons.
      2. You can make widgets too. Dreamview and Group Controls can be placed there for quick control.
      3. The Automations tab is starting to become useful too. Turn a light on, and it's during a time? Change to Sunrise.

    My biggest issue with govee is that they don't have local API access and when using their cloud API with home assistant I end up hitting the API limit and everything breaks.
    This is only with two light strips and while you can limit the API calls to a lower rate to help prevent this, the more devices you have the faster you hit the API limit.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  7 месяцев назад

      I wonder if that's something they are going to work on this year

      @@AutomateYourLife I really hope so. It's been the biggest thing keeping me from buying more of their products.
      I took their in app survey and expressed my wish for better API access.
      Until then I'd rather pay a little extra for something that I know integrates into home assistant better.

    Govee is one of companies that make things right (or mostly right). This is hard with some "smart" appliances that build product around forced smartness or abandon basics - it should never be focused only on being smart (automation-able) but serve it's purpose, not too ugly and sprinkled with reasonable number of well designed enhancements like those tiny legs for heaters, not burning fingers when touched or being able to pair with simple temperature sensor - I would chose those products even without other smart enhancements

    I do like Govee products, but their range here in Australia is very limited (just the Thermo-Hygrometers and various LED lights as far as I can tell).

    Do theGovee heaters also have a schedule function along with the timer function?
    I have an old, non-connected heater, that was pretty cheap about 10 years ago that has maintain, auto, oscillate features. I don't think there is much in the way of innovation in the basic heating, and you wouldn't expect it as ultimately it only has to be able to heat the room. The connection to a hub to have routines and the like is the big difference that makes these smarter, over older, non-connected heaters.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  7 месяцев назад

      Yessir! Both timer and scheduling! I don't think you could force it on with a schedule and then have an automatic timer though. Sooooo you'd have to schedule the on off I think.
      As in, timer is always manual. There...I think I explained it!

    is the thermometer accurate? I saw several heaters with thermometer overestimates temperature since the entire device's temperature is higher than room's.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  7 месяцев назад

      From what I've seen, they've been good. They have a calibration setting too, so if you're finding them a bit off you can calibrate the temperature sensor up or down depending on the issue.
      For any heater though, you're going to have a little bit of a local heat right? That's where it makes a lot of sense to have one of Govee's sensors with these. It works well and keeps your temperature sensor accurate.

      @@AutomateYourLife It's on Amazon and is similar to the others but with a little nightlight at the base and I think it has a larger display. I like them all for their assorted features. The lighting features are nice but not a big requirement for me but the ability to use one of them horizontally if needed is a practical feature that I would like to have for its versatility.

    I use a oil electric hybrid heater for supplemental heat. Very efficient once the room is warmed. Also even heat. Would be nice to schedule or remotely turn them on. Govee lights yay! Govee for heat no thank you.
    Personally I would review the ability to act as a heater first. What size room. How quickly. Etc. once it’s established to be a worthwhile heater then it’s worth it to review whatever tech is bolted on. Personal opinion of course and as always your channel and reviews are appreciated. Lots of work on your side.

      Those oil filled units are the best for actual heating. I used to use them in a Florida home. Was old school and I had them on old fashioned timers so I could wake up and be comfortable.

    Is the Max more powerful than the Pro or are they equally as powerful in terms of heating capability? Are you able to turn off the fireplace light for the Max Model?

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  7 месяцев назад

      The max puts out a little more air for sure and the ability to turn so far means it feels like a lot more.
      But it's the same heat output physically.
      And yep! All lights can be turned on/off individually from the heating element and even the fan.

    How does the govee presence detector compare to the Aqara fp2?

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  7 месяцев назад

      It's been pretty accurate, but it's a simpler device. It's just going to detect in one "zone" and can't make multiple or give you a map. So it's trying to do less complex things. For me, that's enough most of the time. :)
