    Good training video. Great diagnostic strategy. And no battery light with the regulator unplugged. Something we seldom check but when I was a Chrysler tech an alternator that's leaking AC voltage out of it would take out the PCM. Thanks Rich

    I remember when Ford Alternators came with a connector in the alternator, with an orange tape over it saying, warranty void if removed. Always seemed to get hot and loose connection, or lose connection and get hot more accurately, lol. Chance of fire also in rare cases on the older ones.
    Nice work Rich!

    Great video and showing steps of troubleshooting!
    Here we've had 1995 Ford Conversion van started eating batteries. Ford ran the sensing wire down the side of the battery and tray. Over time, wire gets eaten alive and breaks(open circuit). Cut out the bad part, soldered in repair, sealed up with shrinks, rerouted. On a 2000 Chevy Tracker, lights start blinking like the Lincoln but much faster.....replace alternator as the voltage regulator is failing.

    You'r the man Rich I wish that I lived closer to you I would see if you would look at my wife's 2001 Ford Escape XLT 3.0 v6 with 182 000 miles on it. The instrument cluster lights are so dim can barely see it at night it's been to multiple shops and a couple Dealerships they replaced the dimmer switch 2 times,all of the bulbs,a new motorcraft alternator and a new battery and it's still the same as it was they told me everything checked out good and they didn't know why it is that way and to only drive it in the daytime.

    In the last 30 days I have had two, less than 2 year old batteries completely fail overnight for no apparent reason.(different vehicles)
    My water heater failed and leaked, rotting out part of my floor, I broke my thumb slipping on ice, had a hematochezia episode that landed me in the hospital with more to come, had a kid throw a chunk of ice at my truck, lost my cat, had a tub faucet break inside a wall, and had a door handle break on my mazda.
    Point is, when it rains it pours. Things will stop going wrong around me soon, and your gravy work will start rolling in soon!!

    I had a similar issue on a t 3.8L mustang. Replaced the alternator and got it charge. Came back a week later with the same issue. Sound the trigger wire that went into the alternator and into the voltage regulator was bad. Had to depin and make a repair due to how short the wire was.

    Ok guys help me out with a question I have a ford fusion 2017 I keep hearing different things for oil change the works (synthetic) the manual says every 10,000 miles dealership says 5,000 other people say 7,000. I guess my question is which one is more accurate for interval oil change? My car usage is 90% on highway to and from work.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  Год назад +3

      5000 miles is optimal for a boosted engine that is driven on the highway often 4,000 if it's mixed around town and on the highway and 3000 if it's more around town the reason for that is you get a lot of fuel dilution and you get a lot of oil additive package breakdown with the extra oil there's a lot of throw by in that vehicle that you drive and it's a very dirty engine 5,000 miles Max, that manual that you're reading 10,000 miles is for non-severe service you are considered severe service so 5,000 miles Max
