I went to a yard sale once and saw a rocking chair in their garbage that I wanted. I offered to pay for it and they said to just take it. When I was cleaning it , I saw the name of the maker burned under the seat. Looked it up and it was made in the 1700s. I still have it with the original paint/ stain. Use it every day.
I enjoy watching all you videos. I can see the excitement in your face. We bought an old farmhouse to restore and when pulling up the old linolium from the kitchen floor I found under it lots of old newspapers from 1917 telling of the progress of WW1. Keep up the good work!
Renee, am a retired custom picture framer with over 35 years experience and wood slat, newspaper backed pictures are old. There are solutions which can neutralize the acid in those papers to eliminate the brittleness. If you want to preserve them, there is probably information on the internet but those two prints may be worth conserving. Yikes, some of those stories are brutal! Cheers, Rik Spector
Hey girl... my first time here. You asked about cleaning the Coleman Cooler. I have a tip for you. Fill with warm water, baking soda & vinegar. Let it sit over night. Swish with a brush or sponge, rinse & dry. All order & any staining should be gone. If not, repeat with more vinegar & soda. Welcome. I like to be called; GRAM in TEXAS.
Years ago, a fellow bought a cheap print, for the vintage frame...upon removing the valueless print, he was astonished to find three printed menus from the RMS Titanic, dated Sunday April 14th, 1912. No, they were not brought up from the wreak...they were part of a left overstock from the printer's run. The original owner simply used them as backfill for the framing job. Somehow they were forgotten...they ended up in the states. where the print was purchased. They are in Titanic museums today.
Renee, Today I am thankful for your channel. I injured my back recently and I'm unable to do much. Your episode brought some smiles, even laughter to me. Thank you!
First time I stumble upon your channel. Very cool finds! Especially the 2 items from the late 1800's!! Hope you saved the frames, the pictures and the newspapers. Please keep us posted. Thank you!
Having read many comments from viewers, I suggest you HOLD OFF SELLING the PRINTS and FRAMES!!! PLEASE!!! Both prints are precious and the frames beautiful. Perhaps an antique art dealer! The newspaper find is amazing and definitely lends the timing of the framing of the prints! Please share whatever you learn with me (us)!! 👏🎉🥳 GREAT FIND!!! “The thrill of the hunt”!!!🥰
The newspaper , scanned and made into PDF, would be great for people who do junk journals. And you would have absolutely no worries about copyright.. Make like $2 every time someone would buy it.
The spots on the prints can be professionally cleaned, and I would say from the 1800's as well as the frames! I do hope you took everyone's advice and contacted an art dealer or one of your local museums!
Oh, My what tragic news in those vintage papers!! Some of the boxes of ephemera that bought over the years would have vintage/antique newspapers and I spent hours reading the papers!! I just LOVE this stuff!! Thanks for Sharing!
I know nothing about prints, frames, or old newspapers but this was the coolest youtube video I have seen in a longtime MS PAM! Good job looking behind the prints!
I chuckled when you were reading the old newspaper and mentioned it "wasn't a good day for the papers". On the contrary, it was a GREAT day for the newspaper company, because they knew what type of stories would sell. Just like the tabloids of today, stories of horror, murder, death and destruction sell. We haven't changed from our ancestors, and still stop to look at traffic accidents and watch videos of tsunamis carrying hundreds of people out to sea.
Renee, I was at an upscale shop in Chicago a few weeks ago and saw that an artsian had made wine stoppers out the the tops of old sport trophies. They were very cool looking!
Such an amazing find. I would definitely try to get the prints appraised before you take them to the flea market. You may have some very valuable prints. I would read the newspapers and study them. Look how journalism has changed over the almost 200 yrs. Stay safe and God Bless
Some don't realize that "prints" are actually original works of art..examples being lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, etc. vs. "reproductions" which are photographically made. Even if there is an edition of 200 prints, they are all considered originals since each was produced by the printmaker/artist . Such great finds! I would have picked up that terracotta pot as the new ones are not as strong as the old one.
Awesome video as always. The newspapers were sooooo cool. Junk journal makers would buy the newspapers in a heartbeat. I agree with everyone saying those prints are so old they should be worth a hundred or more bucks each!! Please let us know what comes of the prints. We are sooooo nosey. LOL. Thank you for sharing💕
Hello Little Sprite. Ive never read comments because they are for you. BUT a few days ago I did. You are loved by many.. I am so proud of you and for you. Keep on pickickin' and keep on inspiring us. Bless you Miss Pam😊💜
I always donate old trophies or give them away on Craigslist. Organizations which support sports for kids in underprivileged neighborhoods will redo the inscriptions for teams that can't afford trophies.
I would love to read those pages of the newspaper! If you even can please take and show photos of them so I can read through them. I always look forward to your finds. 💕
Congratulations Renee! Beautiful old frames, the prints (in my opinion also old!!, somehow check before selling at fleamarket) and the newspapers what a great finds. Wow.
That glass bowl you left behind with the planters that had bright shiny tinge to it, looked like aurora borealis glass finish. It would have sold. Also it might have been vintage, too. The prints are interesting. Great Newspaper!
Cute bag & plant holder with the bird & faucet!! Wow!! What an awesome find with the 1880s newspapers!! Terrible news though!! Frame, prints, & newspapers may be worth some moolah!!
Hello Renee. Well darn I got a tear in my eye when you said the house didn’t have anything but trash. Oh well maybe they just took a break. But you still found some paper ☺️ .Who couldn’t love that. And I kinda like the prints. Happy hunting. Stay safe 📸🎞📜📰📻❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
Most times, when a family of a deceased relative pays others to clear out a home, the family, as well as the cleaners, have no clue what valuables the deceased people might have collected. Add to the fact, the survivors taking care of someone's estate usually live out of state, have little time to clear out the home, look through every item, then stage and sell the home. You'd be surprised, so many people are clueless about vintage items and especially about art. I've found valuable first editions of hardcover books put in the trash!
OMG Rene you should of picked up that cooler system for your leg. I used on a system like that when I had both my knees replaced. You fill the cooler part up with ice water , and should have tubes to connect with pad that goes around knee . It has an A/C adapter . The ice water is circulated through the tubes and keeps the swelling down. It has replacement parts that you can order which makes it resellable. Kneedless to say it was very costley
Those things are expensive and worth every penny for the comfort they bring after surgery! I used one with my knee surgery and again after rotator cuff surgery I would have grabbed that

That was the coolest thing to find the newspapers behind those framed prints! I always wondered if I should look behind these old antique framed art pieces I find, now I might just do it next time! Neat!
I live in a house that was built in 1898. When I first moved in I lifted up the old rugs upstairs and found old newspapers underneath. It was fun reading them. I sold them to a collector.
That's a very Nice Bag ! So sorry your treasure house is now just garbage 😢 It really sux when something ends when it gives you something to enjoy and look forward too. WOW ..when one door shuts it reveals another treasure !! Those newspaper pages were dynamic!! How interesting ❤❤❤
Find someone that knows about your prints they could be worth some money, and check out your frames .If you know an antique dealer have them look at them sometimes the frames are worth more than the prints. Check them out before you sell them at the flea market. Good luck. A good find.

Chris-ABQ Hi Renee! What a fun video...you had me laughing out loud when you read the gory news!! 😂 Maybe you'll find more treasures at the house being sold! 🤞
Cool finds, Renee! Scary times back in those days. I'd have nightmares just reading the paper every day. I hope your (and our!) favorite house is just on a break.
The Victorian frames are a fantastic find . I am fascinated by old newspapers and read them a lot. Hope you get a fair price for the frames and prints at the flea market. Hi, as others have stated those prints could be valuable if they are as old as the newspaper!! The newspapers are so WONDERFUL !! You really discovered some REAL treasure today!! What fun ! THX Take Care
Enjoyed your video Back in the late 1980s a man bought a rough painting for $4 at the Adamstown Pa. flea market , gets it home takes the back off and he finds one of the original first printing of the Declaration of Independence! They printed 500 of them but only 24 are known to survive and only 3 are in private hands He put it in auction and sold in 1991 for $2.4 million !...in 2000 it was resold for $8 million ! I knew a dealer that used to set up at Adamstown and he said the guy that set up across from him was who sold it. The newspapers were interesting, being against those boards turned them into toast from the acid. Older newspapers tend to survive better being rag paper. I collect papers with slave adds ( for sale and run away) mostly pre 1810 and they are usually in very good condition. I also like old hide trunks and they are often lined with news papers, often they will be German / Pa. Dutch. Once had a big one lined with papers from 1820 that articles about Andrew Jackson, had a neat lock with a cover of a guy on a horse...I traded it off.
I do a lot of Genealogy for my own family and in looking at old newspapers from the 1800"s they printed everything that went on in the little towns and some of it is very graphic. It's more like a gossip sheet and they tell in detail about hangings and deaths. They can be funny and sad. Love that one you found.
When I was a kid we had one just like it. My mom bought a cheap toilet brush and only ever used it to clean stuff she couldn't get her arm in like that cooler. (No it was never used in a toilet) It worked great, but I always thought it was gross I'm too squeamish.
Those religious prints are very nice and seem too valuable to sell at the flea market. Put them on ebay or etsy so we can all have a chance to buy them. Those newspapers with their dark stories would fit right in with your Halloween display. Thanks for another fun video!
Are you sure those photos aren’t Giacomo Brogi, instead of Giuseppe. If they are Giacomo you need to get them evaluated. Giacomo Brogi died in 1881 around the time those were framed.
Giacomo Brogi is listed as photographer, yet a lot of his work appears to be paintings and sketches. I found a few of angels. Those prints should definitely be appraised before being sold at a flea market. I couldn't find any kind of art under the name 'Giuseppe Brogi'.
@@VladDImpala His work also shows up on cabinet cards. Most likely they are photographs from his studio. The newspaper ink most likely leached onto the back of the photos causing it to have the brown coloration. Would definitely get in touch with someone who knows about Italian photographers.
What a unique little find ! And the paper seemed more of a gossip column more than any big news of the day . But extremely entertaining none the less !
Have those prints checked out as you could make a bit of money. I love the pretty bag. I too feel bad that the house is done with putting out garbage bags. Darn. I am sure you will find lots more. You got a great find today.
You should research the prints more before selling them at the flee. They may be 100+ years old, as well???? I actually really like the browning at the edge of the newspapers. They'd look cool framed in a two-sided glass frame. Definitely, put them in some kind of protective cover. Thanks for another great treasure hunt in the trash!
Of course they are! They are concurrent with the newspapers. You don't frame a print and line it with old newspapers. The prints and frames are at least as old as the newspaper pieces.
Wowww Rene for you thise 1888 news papers are like a Christmas in June because since you are so fond of old papers etc those frames hidden those news papers good for you girl!!! You are a such a mystery detective!!!! 🤔❤
As usual, you've come up with some fantastic stuff! Those prints are amazing! (You may be sitting on a considerable sum). As for the newspapers, funny how they featured sensationalist stories. Some things never change, do they?
I couldn't resist another suggestion...if you scan or take hi res photos of those newspapers you can definitely sell the digital images to crafters who are Always looking for ephemera!
Oh wow! I hesitate to think of what else they put out in the trash!
@@PaperandMoose yes I've thought of that many times.

How I love to hear the chorus of birds as you describe your finds. Your state us so beautiful.

I once found an old news paper that "my picture was in" when I was in 9th grade. Im 68 now!

Amazing finds and amazed of the newspaper behind the prints .some money on the prints and history on the newspaper wow finds .
If the backing is that old, perhaps the “prints” may be of some value. They may be in truth a lithograph.

Back in the late 1980s a man bought a rough painting for $4 at the Adamstown Pa. flea market , gets it home takes the back off and he finds one of the original first printing of the Declaration of Independence!
They printed 500 of them but only 24 are known to survive and only 3 are in private hands

I actually bought what I saw to be art, and it was parts of very old newspapers in a plain frame. One of my favorite pieces. 🙂
Love the old newspapers Amazing ephemera for journals
In Victorian England they had Penny Dreadful newspapers which printed all the "bad" news at the time. They cost a penny.
You clean out Coleman containers, vases, like that with dry rice & bleach & shake, shake, shake, rinse, rinse, rinse & then dry rice & vinegar & & shake, shake, shake & rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse.
Unless your arm will fit in it
