After watching this video, I sold my fenix 7 silver and bought the epix pro standard black (they are the most beautiful without titanium just simple black ), I don't need sapphire because I have a protective glass, it was the best choice I could have made. The quality of the display and color, contrast, and visibility in all conditions is amazing. Since I spend 70% of my time indoors (work, gym, home) and 30% outside, of that 30% the sun is 10% :D the rest is raining or it's morning or night. Amoled simply has no competition and fenix was just a pain for my eyes :D + red shift mode at night is beautiful. It's a pity that there is no ECG support for Germany yet.

I agree man, all that recovery info is definitely a double edged sword.
The thing to remember is that even if your HRV is low, you can still do easy workouts. HRV is about guiding intensity. If my HRV is super low and i’m feeling bad, I’ll still walk and do a yoga session. If it’s moderately low, I’ll still do some easy zone 2 training. And if it’s higher and i’m feeling good, that’s a signal that I can really push hard in the gym or on the track. Unless you’re sick, don’t let a low score prevent you from working out-maybe just let it guide your intensity a bit.

Wouldn’t you like a Suunto Race Titanium though? Much cheaper and still very good.

I agree, the Body Battery info is really demotivating for me as well...that's why I remove it from the glances and focus on my day. I don't need my watch to remind me that I'm tired :)

Thank you for this review! You're the first one to mention the rather sluggish performance of the OS - something that's quite apparent in all the videos I've watched so far, but not often mentioned. I am torn between this model and the Garmin Forerunner 965 mainly because I also surf, although rather infrequently. Do you have any experience with the 965? Would the performance of the OS be comparable or perhaps slightly smoother (it seemed so to me on side by side video comparisons)? I need to decide if surf tracking is a deal breaker for me or not... Thanks a lot.

My Fenix 5x Plus just had the sensor die - and so today after a few back and forths with Garmin, they gave me %20 off for a new one - I went with this - looks like a good replacement, upgrade.. I can't wear the silicone, it makes my screen break out - so I have had to use the fabric bands...

Thanks, WHC! I got a Fenix 7X and thinking of upgrading it to the epix pro 51mm - you’ve mentioned you didn’t get any “Battery Anxiety”, my dilemma exactly… How is the battery life compared to the same usage on your Fenix 7X?
Did you move to the “Gesture” move to turn screen on? Or did you stick with the “Always On Display” mode?
    Thanks for the review! Uri.

Still on aleways on display. Charge it just about double as much, which is every week. Do not have any battery anxiety at all for me personally. Once a week, I think it is very good, considering the nicer display 👍.

I have an Instinct 2 Solar and the thing I really love about the simple Monochrome screen, is that reading the time in the bright sun is very easy. The battery life is amazing, but of course, I do miss the nice coloured screen. I wonder if I should have spent extra and gone for a Fenix or Epix? It is a big spend. Double what I spent on the Instinct 2 Solar. That's the cost of a new Iphone. You really do have to be sure about a watch, when spending the big bucks.

    • @davidvitez9357
      @davidvitez9357 3 месяца назад

I had fenix 5+ titan saphirr , then instinct 2 solar , then fenix 7 . The visibility of the display and viewing angles was the worst on the fenix 7, because there is a touch layer, and unless the sun shines on the display, it is terrible, that is, 70% of the free time. Fenix 5 had much better contrast in low light. And now the epix for the first week, I gave amoled a chance, and the display on the epix will make up for any battery life, the colors are perfect, it's a joy to play sports and run with them, even in direct sunlight the visibility is beautiful, and the maps are another dimension. I use them in gesture mode, during always on activities, I got used to it and it doesn't bother me. I have a battery life of about 8-9 days with daily 2-hour GPS activity and 24-hour use.

Did anyone notice that this watch has some delay / latency in turning on the screen when you just simply rotate the hand to check what time it is?
First time, when you rotate the hand, the watchis having some delay in turning on the screen, but if you rotate the hand immediately, for the 2, 3rs time there is no lag?
Is it only my watch that is having this issue or this is by design Garmin behavior?

Have the same watch, and mine rebooted during a run two days ago. It resumed activity though, så no harm done, but as you said quite disconcerting. It happened as I wanted to enable shuffle in the spotify app, while listening to music. I was also following a course with navigation and had footpod connected. So quite a bit was going on. But still.

    • @whcvip

It's not a nice feeling on a new watch. I hope it is a non-issue, maybe some software bugs. Have not had any reboots since that one, so time will tell.
