I loved the whole animatic!! I was curious on what program you use to draw and edit everything together? I've wanted to do animatics for a while, but I can't find a program to pull the whole video together, can you tell me what you use?
I LOVED the Scylla reveal. With the silhouette, you go "oh, that's Scylla," but then it zooms out even more and you're just met with the shocking realization that she is SO much bigger and terrifying!!
I love the turmoil shown in and between Eurylochus and Odysseus, it makes them feel so much more human. Especially with Odysseus saving Eurylochus, it's almost like the old him is still there. And though he's more than willing to cut some losses if it means he'll be able to get home, Odysseus still cares, to a degree. I guess there's just some things you can't shake, and this portrayal of their friendships fraying but not yet snapping is beautiful.
That is a different take love it! It makes sense odysseus cares for Eurylochus and won't let him die. Like dude is literally married to odysseus's sister

@@foolslayer9416he wasn’t any more of an idiot than Odysseus. He said his name to the Cyclopes, and didn’t apologise to a literal god, he was kind of dumb. If he hadn’t said his name then he would’ve got home safely.
I see a lot of people talking about his Odysseus pushing Eurylochus out of the way of being eaten, but I don’t see a lot of people talking about how Eurylochus, after seeing the men with the torches be killed, picks up the torch anyway and basically confronts one if Scylla’s heads head on despite knowing he could die from it. Like there are so many layers to that alone. Could it be guilt of his actions with the wind bag? Maybe he think he deserves punishment? Could it be anger at Scylla for the crew members she’s killed? Or maybe it’s him wanting his suffering to end? There are so many possibilities.
Oh that is SOO DEEP. It’s funny, because while I was animating this, I wish I had all of those great reasons 😂 it was more like “oh this would look cool” or “this is a different take” 😂 I’m just so happy it worked out and you enjoyed it!!
agreeing with others that Odysseus saving Eurylochus makes things cut deeper... especially leading into the next song. Eury is already smart enough to put the dots together that the torches were the marker of sacrifice, but this would only confirm his answer before he even asks the question

This animatic sums up what I thought perfectly! In Suffering, as soon as Siren Penelope said “the lair of Scylla”, his face (and the music) dropped. He knew about Scylla and the price that would need to be paid to get through. The guy was already stressed, scared, and upset about what he was about to do, so add that to Eurylochus’s confession over the fact he was the reason they weren’t home now because he went against his captain/king/brother’s order, anger was added to his already negative feelings. He didn’t want to sacrifice more of his men, but he felt like he didn’t have a choice. He’s going to do anything at this point to get back to his home and family. But here, his regrets are clear! He doesn’t want to do this! His heart breaks for the men he is knowingly sacrificing for them to get through. And when he realizes Eurylochus is about to be taken, all that anger he felt is gone and saves him. Amazing!!!

I love how no matter the animatic everyones designs of Scylla really nail home that "terrifying monster that is impossible to fight". Sure the Crew get on Ody later for not fighting but is was mentioned by the Sirens that even Poseidon himself is scared of her and in the original Odyssey, Scylla cannot be fought. She lives on top of an UNREACHABLE CLIFF and if you sail to close she eats you (and if you sail too far away Charybdis kills you.). She is also said to be an IMMORTAL MONSTER. EVEN HERC COULDN'T KILL HER AND HE IS KNOWN FOR KILLING IMMORTAL THINGS OR AT THE VERY LEAST FIGHITNG IMMORTAL POWERFUL THINGS. This is one man and his crew of like 40 peeps.
Not only is it one man and 40 people, Odysseus at this point has lost favour with Athena and while Heracles had stepmommy issues his daddy favoured him greatly. This is one man already on the brink of “I am fighting the entirety of the Greek pantheon” with 40 non-plot armoured normal people
I loved how you portrayed Eurylochus & Odysseus relationship. Eury looks heartbroken in his confession, like the betrayal he committed was devastating him, & then Odysseus walking away & leaving him on his knees only to show that he is also crying. And then saving Eurylochus because that’s still his brother oh god, this just makes the imminent mutiny all the more tragic

I love that Eurylochus is left on his knees when Odysseus walks away angry and hurt from his actions, especially after Odysseus pulls his hand away which really just adds to the pain! Also when Odysseus saves Eurylochus from Syclla im sure that it would make munity so much more painful for Odysseus because even as upset as he was he still saved his friend, and technically brother in law, from her cause he still has some part of him that cares for Eurylochus. It truly just makes that betrayal and act of treason (Odysseus being the King of Ithaca and all-) so much more hurtful! Amazing work!!!

I have to agree they are my favorite duo characters too, their relationship is truly so special and while seeds out doubt have always been on the side of Eurylochus with Odysseus and tension has been there for awhile. I think after losing his best friend, he can't lose someone else he trusts immensely till Zeus comes in to hand down the punishment for Helios. It's definitely being slowly broken :( Of course! Love Scylla's design in this, there's almost 3 separate layers of her and its awesome. I also love how much emotion the tears show by just being on there faces, and Eurylochus literally getting on his knees and begging for forgiveness as tears run down his face and Odysseus starts crying himself realizing what this means was just peak ngl. Also beautiful art style, keep this up amazing work!

this is a fascinating take!!!! we all know that eurylochus realizes what's going on by the end of this song, and that creates the tension that leads into mutiny, but with the way you had odysseus saving eurylochus, this was the first time i've seen an interpretation where they both know what they both know, and neither of them could deny it if they wanted to. it's so interesting!!! on the one hand, it shows odysseus still caring deeply for eurylochus, not completely lost to getting himself home to penelope. but on the other hand, picking and choosing who's allowed to be a casualty of his reunion with penelope is somehow worse than turning his back and letting the sacrifices be blindly distributed. also, i loved the visual detail of the crew with the oars being on a physically lower level than odysseus and eurylochus. i don't know if i could articulate why, but it's striking. it's that passive, wary watching of odysseus and the way he's been sliding in a worrying direction. you get the sense that they feel less exposed down there, almost protected... but from their own captain. fantastic work, thanks for sharing!

All the interpretations I’ve seen of this song were always Ody being fully ready to sacrifice Eurylochus to Scylla. I like that you broke from the norm and had that little bit of the old Ody come out to save Eurylochus. It makes Mutiny and Thunderbringer hurt that much more. Especially since Eury will still fight Ody. UGH absolutely amazing!!!

The way you showed Eurylochus' guilt was good. Also the Scylla design was so amazing, making her in a giant creature. I find it interesting how Odysseus saves Eurylochus because it was such a unique take.

ooough i love the added conflict of emotion here!! odysseus hasnt made a coldblooded move, he is very much stressed and feeling guilty, and then with euryochus... like yeah he saved his friend, but at what cost? is that not also a kind fo selfishness? its tearing them both up inside, and makes their mutual innor turmoil all the better. also lov ethe scylla like. "oh shes not scary enough.... oh wait nm"

Holy Jesus, that's one of the most terrifying takes on Scylla I've seen; her human body being the 'tongue' of and even bigger ""human"" body is trippy as hell, that's great stuff! Also, the expressions in this are on point. Odysseus flits between hardened resolve and VERY clear guilt, shown best when he saved Eurylochus. Even in a situation where he knows not all of his men are making it, him wanting to save the man that's like his brother despite the no doubt complex emotions running through the situation (Eurylochus could be said to a pretty big reason they've had to take this route to start with by opening the wind bad, so Odysseus blaming him wouldn't be beyond doubt) is good stuff. And I think it works in a dramatic sense, since it leads into Mutiny really well, with all these emotions reaching a fever pitch. Great stuff!

I love the way you show Eurylochus apologizing to Odysseus. This is one of few that I’ve seen him apologize and the way you make it makes it feel so real ✨🙏✨
Something I've contemplated is "couldn't they have sacrificed 6 sirens to scylla?" But also come to realize "Perhaps he planned to use what was remaining of the wind bag? And it feels like that in this animatic. That there was no other option, Eurylochus had doomed them by opening that windbag and Ody had to come up with a new plan and quickly.
The wind bag was already gone at this point, Eurylochus was talking about who opened it at the beginning of Epic, Odysseus just didn't know who of the crew happened to do it
This is absolutely amazing. I adore your Scylla design(the goat like horns are a great touch). And the amount of detail here is so smooth. The scene where Odyssey’s walking away from Eurylochus is so good….
This with suffering is so good. He's so hesitant in suffering to sacrifice his men, but when he hears Eurylochus's confession, he becomes even more determined to push through. In the end though, he doesn't want to sacrifice Eurylochus, pushing him out of the way, like oml
I’m so happy you enjoyed the video!!! It’s been fun to have a little bit of creative liberty. I know everything I’ve done isn’t canon, but it’s been a blast!
Firstly, I LOVE all the character designs in this, especially Scylla! Not only is she a woman who became a monster, but her humanity is visually devoured by making her human form the luring tongue in the mouth of a much greater beast! Brilliant! But what really gets me is Odysseus tackling Eurylochus and knocking the torch out of his hand. It goes to show what I think a lot of people are missing - that despite his betrayal Odysseus sees Eurylochus as his brother and given the choice he would sacrifice any of the crew over him. Even if he'd chose to sacrifice them all for Penelope.
I find it funny how confrontation Eurylochus is in the next song, after just admitting that he got over 500 people killed by opening the bag compared to 6 by Odysseus
Wow! What I really liked in your animatic is that Odysseus saves Eurylochus. In other animatics it feels like Odysseus no longer cares for him. I like both approaches but I really enjoyed finally seeing the first taking form in your video!
Thank you so much for watching! I did notice that Ody just becomes numb in a lot of animatics. Which isn't bad, but personally felt that Ody wouldn't switch so quickly. That it would take time for him for change. I see it the most in "Thunder Bringer," when Ody is almost in tears saying "I have to see her." and it still hurts him to choose Penelope over Eury.
THERE IS SO MUCH ABOUT THIS THAT I LOVE! I always enjoy people’s different interpretations of how Odysseus feels about sacrificing his men. and even though it’s not my personal interpretation, it’s really cute how he saves Eury from Scylla, it still shows his ruthlessness through his disparity and how he sees certain members of his crew being worth more to him, when Eury saw them all as family and even losing one was devastating to him

With everything you've done in this animatic, anything you do with Mutiny is just going to grind what's left of my broken heart into dust. The relationship between Odysseus and Eurylochus here is just so - I honestly can't put it into words because you've made my brain into mush afksldjgfksdflsdf
This is the FIRST anamatic I've ever seen of Eurylochus lifting tbe torch back up, and Odysseus SAVING him!!! Holy crap. Like instant regret when he told Eurylochus to light the torches and in the end... he can't sacrifice his brother. ...........yet If you do a Mutany or thunderbreaker, it's going to hurt SO much more now... I'm ready. Break my heart.

The expressions are just so good! Plus that Scylla design is excellent as well! I also appreciate Odysseus saving Eurylochus despite a lot of other animatics I've seen have Eurylochus as a torchbearer initially, with Ody trying to get rid of him because of the wind bag. Amazing work!
Ok but the movements are so good, and your expressions are amazing! I love the moment the silhouette pans out and you see just how _massive_ Scylla really is. She looks just like Jay’s description of how he imagines Scylla, too! I think this is the first animatic I’ve seen where Odysseus _actively saves_ Eurylochus, instead of him just dropping his torch, and it’s such a heart-wrenching take because despite what Eury just confessed, despite everything that’s happened, Ody still _cares,_ and yet this act is almost certainly the thing that clues Eury in to the fact that Ody knew the torchbearers would be killed, leading to him turning on him in Mutiny, and Ody probably recognizes that, and _that’s_ what’ll finally sell him on the “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” take, and it’s so tragic! Once again, mercy is his undoing… 😭 Ok I’m done rambling. Wonderful job!

This is the first Animatic where I've seen Odysseus save Eurylochus from Scylla! Others either have Eurylochus either drop the torch, or hand it off to someone else! Nice to think Odysseus still cares about Eurylochus instead of setting him up as bait.
I really like the take of Odysseus not trying to get Eurylochous killed here, even though it's not canon. I would love to see an animatic that combines both the canon of Jorge's vision and this take: my idea would be that Eurylochous at first is holding a torch like in canon, but Odysseus realizes that even though he's angry he doesn't actually want him dead at the last minute and saves him, and then someone else dies instead. I think that would be a really cool idea and would love to see that. I feel like it would show the complexities of their relationship at this point really well.

It’s funny because I was making the video and trying to design Scylla and got STUMPED. So I started scrolling RUclips and his video came up, seriously helped a TON. 😂
Love this! Holy! Even if it's just 2.5 minutes, you put all the emotions in the little details. The kneeling down on the, "Please forgive me?!" Not saying anything just letting the hand go and walking away with a tear coming down. At the end, Syllia says, "You and I are not so different we do what we do to survive" showing the silhouette of Syllia in the eyes of Odysseus and him singing softly with her, "You and I." And the little details in the fights make it quick but simultaneously terrifying and emotional! OH! My Whumpt/Angst Writer in me is just screaming, with joy! This is the physical view we Writers try to convey in our writing during Whumptober! *Chef's Kiss* to all the Artists! Such Talent you all have!
Holy crap the ending where the other guy got eaten by Scylla because Odysseus pushed the man with the torch out of the way. And the guy wasn't even carrying a torch made me gasp. Talk about guilt, holy shit!! This whole animatic was excellent!!
Idk why, but the first time a crew mate gets eaten, to me it looks like the Scylla head is just nomming him like “mmm yummy human. Nom.” 😂😂 idk if it’s the way it’s paced or the fact that his body is sticking out or what, but I just thoughts that’s a lil silly 😂😂

Gosh, Eurylochus broke my heart in this animatic. Like. I have always loved him. From the very beginning. And you did him beautiful justice. His and Odysseus's interactions are so filled with their shared past and their affection for each other and the moment Eurylochus realized that Odysseus was using the man carrying the torches as baits/sacrifices and immediately snatched one and Odysseus seeing it and jumping in to save him and Eurylochus begging for forgiveness in the beginning and Odysseus in the beginning crying about what he is about to do (and knowing about Mutiny and Thunderbringer) and and and (I just love it. This is by far my favourite animatic of this song so far) (I will now go on and pretend that Mutiny and Thunderbringer don't exist and somehow everyone lives Happily Ever After)
I love this so much! Your art style is gorgeous, the animation is so smooth and your character designes are amazing! You also made some really interesting and unique choices that I found really fascinating. This is the only animatic I’ve seen where Ody pushes Eury out of the way. And I kind of love that?! It takes what happens in Mutiny to a whole different level. I also loved the details about showing Ody’s resolve and apathy through having his tears just abruptly stop. It feels so good and in character for him. Also, the last frame of Scylla being reflected in his eyes?!?!? STUNNING! Overall, amazing job! I loved it a lot! It is his decision whether to turn it off or not. And when it comes to Eury, a friend he’s had for years, I think he would have a hard time just saying ‘yup, go ahead and die lol’. Your hard work really shows, keep at it! ❤️❤️❤️
first time i’ve seen ody actually save eury from scylla! i always imagined that eury had a torch but ended up passing it to someone else, like ody had intended to sacrifice eury after his confession. but here, eury didn’t have a torch from the start and ody saved him when he *did* pick up a torch. and i absolutely LOVE it!!! i’d imagine it would be difficult for ody to sacrifice his men knowingly, even after becoming the monster. despite eury’s betrayal, ody still does care to some degree (since eury is his brother-in-law after all) and he was willing to sacrifice some men, but not eury. sorry for the rambling i’m just really in love with your animatic and the portrayal of the characters 😭😭

I love the turmoil shown in and between Eurylochus and Odysseus, it makes them feel so much more human. Especially with Odysseus saving Eurylochus, it's almost like the old him is still there. And though he's more than willing to cut some losses if it means he'll be able to get home, Odysseus still cares, to a degree. I guess there's just some things you can't shake, and this portrayal of their friendships fraying but not yet snapping is beautiful.

I see a lot of people talking about his Odysseus pushing Eurylochus out of the way of being eaten, but I don’t see a lot of people talking about how Eurylochus, after seeing the men with the torches be killed, picks up the torch anyway and basically confronts one if Scylla’s heads head on despite knowing he could die from it. Like there are so many layers to that alone. Could it be guilt of his actions with the wind bag? Maybe he think he deserves punishment? Could it be anger at Scylla for the crew members she’s killed? Or maybe it’s him wanting his suffering to end? There are so many possibilities.
Oh that is SOO DEEP. It’s funny, because while I was animating this, I wish I had all of those great reasons 😂 it was more like “oh this would look cool” or “this is a different take” 😂 I’m just so happy it worked out and you enjoyed it!!
agreeing with others that Odysseus saving Eurylochus makes things cut deeper... especially leading into the next song. Eury is already smart enough to put the dots together that the torches were the marker of sacrifice, but this would only confirm his answer before he even asks the question

This animatic sums up what I thought perfectly!
In Suffering, as soon as Siren Penelope said “the lair of Scylla”, his face (and the music) dropped. He knew about Scylla and the price that would need to be paid to get through.
The guy was already stressed, scared, and upset about what he was about to do, so add that to Eurylochus’s confession over the fact he was the reason they weren’t home now because he went against his captain/king/brother’s order, anger was added to his already negative feelings.
He didn’t want to sacrifice more of his men, but he felt like he didn’t have a choice. He’s going to do anything at this point to get back to his home and family.
But here, his regrets are clear! He doesn’t want to do this! His heart breaks for the men he is knowingly sacrificing for them to get through. And when he realizes Eurylochus is about to be taken, all that anger he felt is gone and saves him. Amazing!!!

I love how no matter the animatic everyones designs of Scylla really nail home that "terrifying monster that is impossible to fight". Sure the Crew get on Ody later for not fighting but is was mentioned by the Sirens that even Poseidon himself is scared of her and in the original Odyssey, Scylla cannot be fought. She lives on top of an UNREACHABLE CLIFF and if you sail to close she eats you (and if you sail too far away Charybdis kills you.). She is also said to be an IMMORTAL MONSTER. EVEN HERC COULDN'T KILL HER AND HE IS KNOWN FOR KILLING IMMORTAL THINGS OR AT THE VERY LEAST FIGHITNG IMMORTAL POWERFUL THINGS. This is one man and his crew of like 40 peeps.
Not only is it one man and 40 people, Odysseus at this point has lost favour with Athena and while Heracles had stepmommy issues his daddy favoured him greatly.
This is one man already on the brink of “I am fighting the entirety of the Greek pantheon” with 40 non-plot armoured normal people
I loved how you portrayed Eurylochus & Odysseus relationship. Eury looks heartbroken in his confession, like the betrayal he committed was devastating him, & then Odysseus walking away & leaving him on his knees only to show that he is also crying. And then saving Eurylochus because that’s still his brother oh god, this just makes the imminent mutiny all the more tragic

I love that Eurylochus is left on his knees when Odysseus walks away angry and hurt from his actions, especially after Odysseus pulls his hand away which really just adds to the pain! Also when Odysseus saves Eurylochus from Syclla im sure that it would make munity so much more painful for Odysseus because even as upset as he was he still saved his friend, and technically brother in law, from her cause he still has some part of him that cares for Eurylochus. It truly just makes that betrayal and act of treason (Odysseus being the King of Ithaca and all-) so much more hurtful! Amazing work!!!

I think after losing his best friend, he can't lose someone else he trusts immensely till Zeus comes in to hand down the punishment for Helios. It's definitely being slowly broken :(

Love Scylla's design in this, there's almost 3 separate layers of her and its awesome. I also love how much emotion the tears show by just being on there faces, and Eurylochus literally getting on his knees and begging for forgiveness as tears run down his face and Odysseus starts crying himself realizing what this means was just peak ngl. Also beautiful art style, keep this up amazing work!

this is a fascinating take!!!! we all know that eurylochus realizes what's going on by the end of this song, and that creates the tension that leads into mutiny, but with the way you had odysseus saving eurylochus, this was the first time i've seen an interpretation where they both know what they both know, and neither of them could deny it if they wanted to. it's so interesting!!! on the one hand, it shows odysseus still caring deeply for eurylochus, not completely lost to getting himself home to penelope. but on the other hand, picking and choosing who's allowed to be a casualty of his reunion with penelope is somehow worse than turning his back and letting the sacrifices be blindly distributed. also, i loved the visual detail of the crew with the oars being on a physically lower level than odysseus and eurylochus. i don't know if i could articulate why, but it's striking. it's that passive, wary watching of odysseus and the way he's been sliding in a worrying direction. you get the sense that they feel less exposed down there, almost protected... but from their own captain. fantastic work, thanks for sharing!

All the interpretations I’ve seen of this song were always Ody being fully ready to sacrifice Eurylochus to Scylla. I like that you broke from the norm and had that little bit of the old Ody come out to save Eurylochus. It makes Mutiny and Thunderbringer hurt that much more. Especially since Eury will still fight Ody. UGH absolutely amazing!!!

Holy Jesus, that's one of the most terrifying takes on Scylla I've seen; her human body being the 'tongue' of and even bigger ""human"" body is trippy as hell, that's great stuff! Also, the expressions in this are on point. Odysseus flits between hardened resolve and VERY clear guilt, shown best when he saved Eurylochus. Even in a situation where he knows not all of his men are making it, him wanting to save the man that's like his brother despite the no doubt complex emotions running through the situation (Eurylochus could be said to a pretty big reason they've had to take this route to start with by opening the wind bad, so Odysseus blaming him wouldn't be beyond doubt) is good stuff. And I think it works in a dramatic sense, since it leads into Mutiny really well, with all these emotions reaching a fever pitch. Great stuff!

2:00 this was absolutely terrifying in my opinion.
Something I've contemplated is "couldn't they have sacrificed 6 sirens to scylla?" But also come to realize "Perhaps he planned to use what was remaining of the wind bag? And it feels like that in this animatic. That there was no other option, Eurylochus had doomed them by opening that windbag and Ody had to come up with a new plan and quickly.
I just thought about that the other day!! The sirens would have helped them a lot. But it goes to show that Ody was not thinking right.
The wind bag was already gone at this point, Eurylochus was talking about who opened it at the beginning of Epic, Odysseus just didn't know who of the crew happened to do it

This with suffering is so good. He's so hesitant in suffering to sacrifice his men, but when he hears Eurylochus's confession, he becomes even more determined to push through. In the end though, he doesn't want to sacrifice Eurylochus, pushing him out of the way, like oml

Firstly, I LOVE all the character designs in this, especially Scylla! Not only is she a woman who became a monster, but her humanity is visually devoured by making her human form the luring tongue in the mouth of a much greater beast! Brilliant! But what really gets me is Odysseus tackling Eurylochus and knocking the torch out of his hand. It goes to show what I think a lot of people are missing - that despite his betrayal Odysseus sees Eurylochus as his brother and given the choice he would sacrifice any of the crew over him.
Even if he'd chose to sacrifice them all for Penelope.

Thank you so much for watching! I did notice that Ody just becomes numb in a lot of animatics. Which isn't bad, but personally felt that Ody wouldn't switch so quickly. That it would take time for him for change. I see it the most in "Thunder Bringer," when Ody is almost in tears saying "I have to see her." and it still hurts him to choose Penelope over Eury.
I love how if appears that Scylla is taking revenge for the sirens deaths especially with the line "choke on your blood"

I always enjoy people’s different interpretations of how Odysseus feels about sacrificing his men. and even though it’s not my personal interpretation, it’s really cute how he saves Eury from Scylla, it still shows his ruthlessness through his disparity and how he sees certain members of his crew being worth more to him, when Eury saw them all as family and even losing one was devastating to him

I think this is the first animatic I’ve seen where Odysseus _actively saves_ Eurylochus, instead of him just dropping his torch, and it’s such a heart-wrenching take because despite what Eury just confessed, despite everything that’s happened, Ody still _cares,_ and yet this act is almost certainly the thing that clues Eury in to the fact that Ody knew the torchbearers would be killed, leading to him turning on him in Mutiny, and Ody probably recognizes that, and _that’s_ what’ll finally sell him on the “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” take, and it’s so tragic! Once again, mercy is his undoing… 😭

This is the first Animatic where I've seen Odysseus save Eurylochus from Scylla! Others either have Eurylochus either drop the torch, or hand it off to someone else! Nice to think Odysseus still cares about Eurylochus instead of setting him up as bait.
I really like the take of Odysseus not trying to get Eurylochous killed here, even though it's not canon. I would love to see an animatic that combines both the canon of Jorge's vision and this take: my idea would be that Eurylochous at first is holding a torch like in canon, but Odysseus realizes that even though he's angry he doesn't actually want him dead at the last minute and saves him, and then someone else dies instead. I think that would be a really cool idea and would love to see that. I feel like it would show the complexities of their relationship at this point really well.

It’s funny because I was making the video and trying to design Scylla and got STUMPED. So I started scrolling RUclips and his video came up, seriously helped a TON. 😂

Bruh, Eurylochus got FLUNG- no *YEETED* back.
Love this! Holy! Even if it's just 2.5 minutes, you put all the emotions in the little details. The kneeling down on the, "Please forgive me?!" Not saying anything just letting the hand go and walking away with a tear coming down. At the end, Syllia says, "You and I are not so different we do what we do to survive" showing the silhouette of Syllia in the eyes of Odysseus and him singing softly with her, "You and I."
And the little details in the fights make it quick but simultaneously terrifying and emotional! OH! My Whumpt/Angst Writer in me is just screaming, with joy! This is the physical view we Writers try to convey in our writing during Whumptober!

Holy crap the ending where the other guy got eaten by Scylla because Odysseus pushed the man with the torch out of the way. And the guy wasn't even carrying a torch made me gasp. Talk about guilt, holy shit!! This whole animatic was excellent!!

Idk why, but the first time a crew mate gets eaten, to me it looks like the Scylla head is just nomming him like “mmm yummy human. Nom.” 😂😂 idk if it’s the way it’s paced or the fact that his body is sticking out or what, but I just thoughts that’s a lil silly 😂😂
😂😂 yeah it is a little silly, I was SUPER tired at the time and this was my first animatic ever, so I def made it more cartoonish 😂🤷🏻♀️

Love your Scylla design. The classic with just the many heads and the woman's upper body is good but this really feels like a monster even Poseidon himself would fear

The artwork for this is absolutely gorgeous, I love how you portray Scylla! I gotta say though, Odysseus knocking Eury out of the way makes the rest of the saga SO much more painful...so of course it's going on the "this interpretation is canon to me no matter what" list 😭

Gosh, Eurylochus broke my heart in this animatic. Like. I have always loved him. From the very beginning. And you did him beautiful justice. His and Odysseus's interactions are so filled with their shared past and their affection for each other and the moment Eurylochus realized that Odysseus was using the man carrying the torches as baits/sacrifices and immediately snatched one and Odysseus seeing it and jumping in to save him and Eurylochus begging for forgiveness in the beginning and Odysseus in the beginning crying about what he is about to do (and knowing about Mutiny and Thunderbringer) and and and
(I just love it. This is by far my favourite animatic of this song so far)
(I will now go on and pretend that Mutiny and Thunderbringer don't exist and somehow everyone lives Happily Ever After)

Your art style is gorgeous, the animation is so smooth and your character designes are amazing!
You also made some really interesting and unique choices that I found really fascinating.
This is the only animatic I’ve seen where Ody pushes Eury out of the way. And I kind of love that?! It takes what happens in Mutiny to a whole different level.
I also loved the details about showing Ody’s resolve and apathy through having his tears just abruptly stop. It feels so good and in character for him. Also, the last frame of Scylla being reflected in his eyes?!?!? STUNNING!
Overall, amazing job! I loved it a lot! Honestly one of (if not) my favorite Scylla animatics I’ve seen.

Thank you so much for your comment!! I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I really tried to keep the characters as accurate to their priorities and intentions. I never envisioned Ody going completely evil in a couple songs, so I wanted to show him trying to be the “monster” but still has a heart.

@@Gentledragon_art I totally agree that Ody doesn’t go completely evil. While he has decided to be the monster (rawr rawr rawr), he’s still human and he still very much has a heart. It is his decision whether to turn it off or not. And when it comes to Eury, a friend he’s had for years, I think he would have a hard time just saying ‘yup, go ahead and die lol’.

first time i’ve seen ody actually save eury from scylla! i always imagined that eury had a torch but ended up passing it to someone else, like ody had intended to sacrifice eury after his confession.
but here, eury didn’t have a torch from the start and ody saved him when he *did* pick up a torch. and i absolutely LOVE it!!! i’d imagine it would be difficult for ody to sacrifice his men knowingly, even after becoming the monster. despite eury’s betrayal, ody still does care to some degree (since eury is his brother-in-law after all) and he was willing to sacrifice some men, but not eury.
