  • Jace and I are back in the garden harvesting our Red Norland potatoes. We planted these potatoes back in February. We got a lot of rain soon after and they struggle to get started. I thought a few times I would have to re-plant them. The harvest was ok, definitely not like last years, but worth the effort.

I planted 1 row of pontiac reds in April. I did a 100ft row and most seed potatoes we planted whole. I just harvested 3 days ago and had a great harvest but the suze difference between the large and the small was confusing. I got a whole lot of potatoes that were way larger than a softball. The small were like limes in size. I am gonna weigh them when I box them up. Do you store taters in the egg crates? I was told to use cardboard boxes with lots of holes. I have lime to cover them if needed. I live in the western part of NC. Lenoir is the name of the city. I waited to plant because it was very cold until April 21. Keep making videos because I don't know how to grow everything yet. Also, I didn't know.which fertilizer to use so I went with 10-20-20 on potato plants a couple times.

How do you deal with vine borers and squash bugs?

Its a constant battle, but we plant consecutive crops so when we loose some plants due to pest, we have more coming up right behind. We don't use chemicals so its a never ending battle.
