I really enjoyed your video,Laura.Thank-you for sharing your tips with us.You explain things so clearly and slowly,so it is easy to understand and follow your directions.Your cutains look so elegant and enhance the look of your room.💕
Your curtains look very classy. You explain things so clearly & I appreciate your suggestions on how to use different items laying around the house (like the office clips & clothes line pins) as alternate tools without having to purchase something I might only use for one project. Your videos give me confidence to tackle projects I would never have dreamed of before. Thank you! 🌻🌸💙🌺
What a clever way to dress up cheap curtains. I need curtains in my project room and have been trying to decide what to do. Something like this is certainly less money than using what's in my fabric stash. Thanks, Laura!
Your lesson was very well thought-out. Your recommendations were things I would never have thought about. For example, I would not have thought about the grommets being at different levels.
Love your videos. I have one tip to make your pleats even. Put in between each grommet on the back side space out with trimmed paper towel tubes to your preference on spacing. Keeps them from bunching up
I did same thing with a curtain I bought very long time ago, and I was sooo proud of the bottom finished edge that I kept checking it every time I passed by that curtain hehehehehe, thank you sooo much for the starch tip that is very valuable, you always show wonderful and useful tips Laura.
This is exactly what I need to do with some bedroom curtains, but I have hesitated because I have never done this before. Thank you so much for all the detailed instructions! I now feel like I can do this.
This was the very first type of curtain I made back im 1975! So easy, but beautiful if you take the time to measure twice, make a deep hem & use starch if you can't use interfacing.
This comes right on time! I just purchased some really nice Ikea curtains for my sewing room, and they are far too long (I don’t like them dragging on the floor with all the lint in the sewing room, and I like to use my window sills to put stuff on, so they are just going to hang to the sides to make the room look more homey). As they were pretty inexpensive, I thought I’d give it a try, and shorten them myself, because buying the actual fabric would have been much more expensive. And then, I hesitated to hem them, because I‘ve never done this before, and I was afraid of ruining everything. Thanks for your clear instructions, now I feel confident enough to get this done.
I appreciate how you pointed out things that a newbie like myself would never have thought of, such as leaving space at the top and bottom for the curtain to move. I'll definitely be rewatching this when the time comes for me to try curtains on my own.
As usual great instructions and clever ideas! Just wanted to mention that when I dry curtains with big grommets like that I put the ends with the grommets in a pillow case and tie up with an elastic band because I don't like the grommets chipping away at the inside of the dryer (I button up all pants as well for that reason). Cheers 🇨🇦🍁😆
What a great video. And some wonderful tips. i never would have thought about using clamps to hold the curtains in place for measuring. Maybe that's why one of my curtains is always a little off no matter how much I pin. Thank you for sharing.
Have you seen that trick where you put a three inch piece of toilet paper (or paper towel) roll between the grommets? It is amazing the difference it makes. I did it throughout my house to ALL. my IKEA curtains. What an upgrade to the look.
This came in handle to day. I will be doing this to my basement windows in NOV. and all I can find are longer then the window sill. Love your ironing board cover those are the colors I use in my sewing room. Stay Safe till the next time.
I love your videos .I hope you will show new sewing room soon and make more videos about sewing clothes for big sizes ....I would love learn how make clothes for myself.
Hi Laura, great tutorials as always! I have never come across window curtains at our Dollar Store in LA. Wish we have Dollar Stores that have all the things most viewers talk about.🥺😢
Excellent video, Laura! I have several small windows that I can use this technique with. Your directions are so easy to follow-thank you very much. Now I need to take a trip to the Dollar store. That will save alot of money. Pam Miller
Another great and instructional video! Thank you for the ideas! I think I’m going to try your bottom hem idea on a shower curtain. I’m hoping the extra weight will help with it staying outside of the shower and keep it from getting wet. Enjoy your day 🙂
I bought these exact same curtains for my bathroom. Wow were they ever long. Too bad I didn't see your video before I decided to toss them and make my own curtains.
Those grommets are expensive to buy at the fabric store and install yourself. I bet you couldn't buy fabric and grommets at the fabric store for what you paid at the dollar store. ... How'd things get so turned around? ❤🌅🌵😷
Instead of lining up the top hem to the edge, you should line up the top of the grommets since that is where the curtain hangs from. That is why you lined up the grommets to start with.
Great looking sheers! Can I ask you the fiber content, are they voile or cotton or a poly blend? Can you tell me what dollar store you found them in? Love your tutorials and your sewing space is fabulous!
I thought you were going to measure your length from the top of the grommet not from the fabric top (since the grommets and were uneven), But when you measured length to cut, you used the fabric top as your starting point (at 6:00). Why change methods?
Please Laura , can you show us how to make a curtain for a loft window . Loft window curtain are only made by factory & they are very very expensive , about £100 for a small window. I have never seen anyone on RUclips showing how to make one. Thank you
SewVeryEasy I am sending you a link so that you see the window , this is how all loft windows are, they are slanted not like ordinary window which is upright . Here is the link ruclips.net/video/KC49bZbqN1g/видео.html. These blinds are way too expensive , whereas materials be it cotton , velvet etc... are very cheap . I am pretty sure you can come up with an idea of how it can be done with materials. Thanks, have a blessed day.
Zara bees - I watched the video link you provided. So it looks like the bottom of your drape would need to be anchored somehow. How about sewing a double-folded hem (like Lara did on the top of hers) on both the top and the bottom, and then using a tension rod in both ends? If it's a small window, the small rods that require installation of a small piece of hardware would work instead of the bigger tension rods. Hope that helps!
How brilliant these curtains have become. Beautiful finish, very well done
Very clever. The curtains are tres chic. Thanks for the tips and the video as always 😊 👍 💕
I love this!! Can't wait to go to the dollar store again!
Thank you so much! Carol

They really look so much better after you hemmed those edges and made the wide hem at the bottom. Nice job Laura. They look fabulous.
Yes , they did, looked expensive afterward

I could watch your videos all day they’re so informative thank you so much

Yes and the dollar tree is very budget friendly

Then doesn’t that part not get as clean as the rest?
@@jojomakes Sure they do.

Have you seen that trick where you put a three inch piece of toilet paper (or paper towel) roll between the grommets? It is amazing the difference it makes. I did it throughout my house to ALL. my IKEA curtains. What an upgrade to the look.

Great tips and tricks the drapes look fabulous.
V good video
Is that in your new sewing room? Been waiting to see the finished basement sewing space.
Laura...when do we get to see your finished sewing room? Will you be doing a tour when it’s all done? Love to see it!

The inside fitting will insulate also
Wow. What is the fabric content of the drapes? Lovely

thank you and they are a poly blend, Dollarama
Just lovely
WOW!
That extra fabric from the bottom would also have made a great lining.
I did think of that but I really want the extra light coming into the room. so I'm going to turn that extra into laundry room curtains.
@@SewVeryEasy That's also a great use for the extra fabric!

Thank You for this! May I ask what size stitch you used to finish each side?
The heading is called eyelets
I didn’t understand how you rolled that hem. It looks like a folded hem to me.
Please Laura , can you show us how to make a curtain for a loft window . Loft window curtain are only made by factory & they are very very expensive , about £100 for a small window. I have never seen anyone on RUclips showing how to make one. Thank you
Are you talking about a round type window. Sort of pie shaped?

@@thewaldens90 Thank you so much, I will try & see if it works. God bless you
hi laura i also live in canada where do you bye your fabric i only know of fabric land
There are wonderful quilt shops that have quilting cottons threads and notions. And a lot of times they are a lot cheaper than Fabricland.
Re you a Virgo? Love that Peridot ring.
Croments ??
🇨🇦👩🏽👍🏽
Love your videos but I would rather pay a few more dollars for what I want than to go to all that trouble. 😂
Dollar store curtains? Where do you live?
