Perfect exhaust comparison video: no bullshit, well filmed, different situations with the 2 exhausts back to back. I wish more exhaust videos were like this!
Few thoughts- ~Kudos to BMW for making a factory exhaust that sounds almost as good as a top tier aftermarket one. I agree on the look though, I'm not a fan of the big silver barrel look of the stock can. ~The boxer engine is so darn good. It gives you enough HP to go fast, and enough torque to get there quickly. This bike answers the question "How fast is 140 hp anyway"...plenty fast. ~Straight pipe definitely sounded the best, but on long rides it probably would get annoying, and as you said, fuel tuning is needed. ~I agree 100% on the Akra not being worth the cost. My wife and I looked and listened to their options for the 1250GS and we just couldn't justify the cost. Performance gains are minimal at best and there was barely a difference in the exhaust note. ~Very well produced video. Nicely done all around.
Thank you for your input! I had the same Akra system on my '09 R1200R. You could remove the baffles in the exhaust to really let the sound out. It sounded great once the boxer sound was allowed its full potential. Unfortunately (from what I understand) due to European regulations, Akrapovic no longer manufactures this exhaust with removable baffles. This pretty much renders it useless. Somewhat sad if you ask me. I'm not disappointment with the purchase, but these days that money can definitely be better spent. For example, I had to wait a couple months (and missed an epic ride to Colorado) to buy proper saddle bags, because I went for the exhaust first, oops. Thanks again for watching and commenting!
It gets worse. This Akrapovic system doesn't meet factory exhaust dimensions, so it does not fit with my aftermarket panniers. Not 100% Akra's fault, but another nail in the coffin. I can't recommend this system at all unfortunately :(
Video can not transfer the amount of noise from 'pipe only' part of your video. I have just fired mine for 2 sec between slip on install and it was like a bomb. Would be too fun to have some valve and use it bypassing the slip on outside city for some fun ride. Awesome video and great comparison. Ride safe
Thanks for your awesome efforts. I have a 2022 RS Exclusive with the huge stock can, which sounds just fine to me but simply looks wrong. The bike has no other chrome and the barrel shape doesn't compliment the bike's design. Eventually the stock can will be replaced but as others have said, it won't really be about the sound. ..
Just FYI, this Akra can doesn't have the same dimensions as the stock unit. It is a bit longer/taller. I'm not sure about the factory bags, but unfortunately this exhaust doesn't work with my aftermarket Hepco & Becker frame/panniers. It's such an easy swap though, whenever I have my bags off the bike I slap the Akra back on haha. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Very generous of you to add this note, @brettkoski. I have factory panniers, which I assume will work with the Akra. But I will be sure to confirm before buying anything. For the price I'm thinking I'd get the Leo Vince slip-on, which I think is the only other brand that we can get directly here in Canada.
Southern New Mexico, this is a side road that is privately owned/maintained. Most of the roads here are terrible, unfortunately :( I hope to make a bike trip up to Crested Butte this year, if my schedule allows. Had the opportunity last year but I didn't have the right gear (cold/wet weather) to make it happen. Colorado is a BEAUTIFUL state!
Hahaha I totally get it. I'm still a novice rider, ripping it in 1st and 2nd is terrifying (especially the "launch"). I feel like I'm going to flip the bike over my head, and as awesome of a video that would make... still not ready for it. If you watch any of the other videos I have of this bike, you'll notice something happens around 126MPH, for whatever reason I can't break that speed, even though the bike will gladly do it. I think getting older and realizing one's mortality has something to do with it. This bike has a LOT of power for a newb, gotta respect that unfortunately. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Best exhaust comparison video on the internet
What can I do to make this better?
Perfect exhaust comparison video: no bullshit, well filmed, different situations with the 2 exhausts back to back. I wish more exhaust videos were like this!
Thank you for the kind comment! If I could afford to do more of these videos I would!
Man these R1250RS’s pull hard, impressed at how quick it zipped past 100 lol
Very nice, informative video! Stock sounds good enough for me. Thank you!
Great video. I got some mad max vibes when you turned back to look at the camera just before you took off. Sounds way better than stock now.
super video, thx and greetings from Germany :)

Excellent video. Thanks for convincing me to spend that money elsewhere!

😂 👍
Well done Brett
This guy should do sounds tests for everything so through and good quality of stuff I want to know
Wow, this Akrapovic Exhaust is impressive😮

A well spent Sunday I guess
That was very entertaining. Things get whipping over 100 MPH. Must be nice to have your own road.:)
BK has much to learn.
I like the sound of the stock exhaust better
That's why I make these videos, everyone gets to choose what they like the best. Thanks for watching!
I actually tried both personally, and liked the stock one too

What state do you live in? I live in Colorado and I wish the roads looked like this!

Does Akrapovic resonate through the pegs and/or bars differently than the OEM can?
There isn't any difference that I can tell.
Still waiting for the aggressive start!

The boxer twin. The OG fart machine.
This fact cannot be disputed!
I don't think the change is worth... a superbike should shout , not a highway locomotive
Uguale uguale al TMAX.......
