What a man Dr. Eric Williams - This was Trinidad when it was.
Such perfect language. Where has it all gone.
Respect to Dr. Williams - he did so much for us.
God bless him always. Look at Sir Solomon Hochoy.

As an outsider looking in I find there are stark contrasts between the versions of history my wife (trini-indian) and my best friends (trini-african) were taught in and out of school. Much of this I supposed fueled by the interests of racism for the benefit of a nation divided. The facts remain Dr. Eric Williams accomplished the independence of the country and throughout his leadership Trinidad & Tobago thrived and was the pearl of the Caribbean. His legacy is laid before you, a fresh start. Success through UNITY. It is up to you to carry it on not as a burden but as a badge of honor and dignity.

Wish i was born in these times...but I'm glad to reap the benefits of this moment. and independent Trinidad and Tobago. Bring back Dr.Williams, and take away Kamala, Panday and Manning.

Funny how the man who "acted in hate" was the leader of the one party of two that was actually -integrated-, including Indians and several other races.

Unusual to see these responses to this Video footage. I would have felt that there would be greater Respect for the Dr. Would he want us in-fighting.

The truth is Dr. Eric Williams is the father of the nation of Trinidad & Tobago. Who vex lorse! Be responsible and honor his work and legacy with 'world peace, world harmony and world happiness". How? With discipline, tolerance and production.

What's funny is that in the USA Williams is known for writing "Capitalism and Slavery," which greatly influenced subsequent writings on the subject. Back then he was a Marxist. As leader of Trinidad & Tabago, however, he apparently turned into an anti-communist autocrat who alienated a lot of his early followers (including left-wingers like C.L.R. James.) He may have led his country into independence, but it should be equally distressing if he took advantage of it for his own ends.

I loved my late PM , The Right Honourable Dr Eric Williams. In his time we enjoyed a lot of freebees, there was equal opportunity for all races, Sham Mohammed, Kamallum Mohammed and they were his right hand buddies,so what racist ppl talking about, you all ungrateful. No one can please everybody, all they can do is try and that he did, It was a very sad day when that man passed away, I can remember it very well. there was a gloomy cloud over the Island. we are reaping what we have sown
