Bowtie Key Inlays (No Jigs)

  • This is how I make and inlay bowtie (butterfly) keys. I recommend this method to those who don’t do it often enough to make or buy jigs. You’ll need your tools, a sharp pencil, steady hands, and good eyes. It's really not hard. Be sure to chamfer the bottom edges of your bowtie to make the fit a little easier and mix the router sawdust into the glue to help hide any imperfections. Hope this helps someone out there!
