    I've been watching Brian Cox for over 40 years now. He's an actor's actor. Everything he's done, he's given such consistently great performances. Some probably remember him playing a short but great part on "Frasier", as Daphne's dad. And he was FUNNY! He was the old man in the instant Halloween classic, "Trick 'R Trick", in which he plays the old man. And many people don't know he first played Hannibal Lecter onscreen, some five years before Anthony Hopkins, in the fantastic movie, "Manhunter". There are roles he's been able to phone in, and still give greater performances than those who have studied a role for months on end. Amazing guy.

      He had the best sequence in trick r treat, for sure. Sometimes I put that part on. He’s so good and I love how much fun he has with acting. He seems like a serious person but doesn’t take himself too seriously and is great in everything he does.

    • @RebelDukeTX
      @RebelDukeTX Год назад

      @@potato-whiz agreed. It was cool the way the storyline came back around to this character...the old man. When some questions were certainly answered, or more was just revealed about this particular character. Had someone else been cast, it could've been a rather forgettable, unclimactic sequence. But Cox is so good at kicking characters up a notch with his style and talent as an actor. He's always done that. I've seen them so many times now. But it was fun to watch him recently, doing comedy as Daphne's dad on "Frasier". And he was FUNNY! And yeah, you can tell that the key to his happiness and sanity in this business is not to take himself too seriously. He's still having so much fun with what he's doing, where he could easily retire. But actors like him never retire.

      Eeeeeexactly!!!! I always found that ,,method acting" is pure bulls*it. It seems that this method was invented rather by some lunetics trying to be actors but actually don't have a clue about what is acting really about. Always felt this way about it.

      @@melodyal3357 Absolutely. It makes me think of this story I heard about Dustin Hoffman working with Laurence Olivier on a film. Dustin was putting himself through needless hell in order to “get there”, and one day Sir Laurence just said to him, “it’s called acting.” Stuck with me ever since I heard that story.

      I don’t know about that though, method acting seems to work quite well in many instances (even though it might be annoying to work with), just look at Daniel day Lewis for example. I’m not saying it’s superior or inferior to other forms of acting, I just don’t think there’s any “wrong” way to act in my opinion.

      @@veslets I can see what you’re saying, but I just don’t see that as acting, personally. Like, I can understand someone staying in a particular accent for a while because it’s easier to not switch back & forth, but if I had Daniel Day Lewis try to tell me that I need to only refer to him as Abraham Lincoln for 5 or 6 months, or Jared Leto send me used condoms & dead rats, HR is getting involved lol. I’m more impressed by someone who is able to deliver an amazing performance without sacrificing themselves/relationships with people around them.

    Man he’s a titan and a half of an actor but I just see him as Logan lol. Though Brian is 10x funnier than Logan.
