  • This fall I'm adding four celeste fig trees to my backyard orchard. Its rare to find fruiting saplings so large, so I thought I'd share this find from Pflugerville's Home Depot, where I got these trees for $30 a piece.

    I just got peach and celeste fig trees from Costco today thanks to your peach video. I am going to try to keep my trees small. Digging a whole is back breaking omg! This is my first house lol. I planted the 2 figs today and will plant the two big peach tree tomorrow. 😅 Pray for me neighbor. Your garden is inspiring.

    That's a lot of celeste trees. Hydroponic feeding program I guess.
    I had a perfectly ripe celeste the other day. The plant is producing so much that the wild birds can't keep up & metallic-green dung-beetles have started to ornament the tree as they dig into these delicious figs.
    Today is the Autumnal Equinox, 12 hours of sunlight, where garden plants should be in full-bloom in prep for winter.

      I was looking at a $1000 fig tree from moon valley nursery that was about 6' tall, and 3' around, as apposed to these trees being 1' around, crazy find for $30

    Two things to consider for the Texas heat: mulch and shade cloth. Have a great day. God bless.

    I do not think they are grafted. When you root a cutting from the middle of a branch, it will produce a notch that looks like it is grafted. Some people graft figs onto root stock if the fig is hard to root. But it is extremely rare since figs are usually very easy to root.

    What are they grafted to... Brown Turkey? Two for one, maybe?

    Hey man !!! How are you ? We are getting ready to move to Manor , how is the soil quality?

    • @AustinTexasGardening
      @AustinTexasGardening  Год назад +1

      Glad to have you joining us neighbor! Soil quality is bad, dense clay soil in most of presidential meadows, heights, and glen from what I’ve heard, but I can only confirm for presidential heights. Soil might be better in shadowglen from some of the landscaping projects I’ve seen
      I did a videos on my raised bed in the fall of 2021, my french drain this summer, and another on my backyard orchard this spring, that reveal some of the extent of the clay soil, it’s like 2” of turf, and then straight clay
