Well if you weren't so blind you would notice he is using the cymbal with his left foot. You can see the movement of the cymbal XD

Of course its OK to give a cover your own spin. But at the same time you *should* consider how it fits with the song. A good video on this is "How can you tell a good drummer and a bad drummer apart?
" by Brandon Khoo, which brings up a good point :) Regardless, that was great drumming and a very talented drummer, but the cover was just a tad over the top for my taste :D

Thing is, people usually watch drum covers to understand how the drum part works. It's not really helpful when someone makes a drum cover and plays completely different compared to the original.

Robert Claar yeah i know right? like you go into a cover with an open mind, constructive critisism is alright but at the end of the day their is a diference between a bad cover (ie messing up your personalised fills) and then their is just it not being your style, and if its not your style then you cant say he did it wrong, because he didnt mess up, you just dont like the way its played, end of, so your 100% right
He's talented as hell - I wish I was that gifted, but there are way to many fills and unnecessary rhythms and too much a show off attitude - It's cool he wants to display his skills but it actually in the contrary make him look like a worse drummer than what he really is. It's just over the top to put I simply. He's making it way more complex than it's meant to be, I know It's a cover but still, way to much dude - you over did it.
The key to being a good drummer if I may be so bold (not that I claim to have Phd in drumming, though I have been a drummer my whole life) is not necessarily to have the ability to play complex polyrhythms or what ever, but simply to follow the rhythm and have the "feeling" to know when to put in the fills (still in moderation) except maybe in specific sub-genres of Metal and Jazz but still not to much, it takes focus from the the other instruments. Ringe Starr is a great example of a great, yet not uber skilled drummer. He doesn't nearly get the recognition he deserves because he's a solid drummer. He kept a tight rhythm and knew how to follow the band - he didn't play very difficult, but that was his key: simplicity.
