Enjoyed the memories there Graham, Archie and Arthur are both lovely guys and very passionate about Scottish football, but in all honesty never rated any of them as match commentators as they did in their earlier days, felt they were better suited presenting their shows.
I remeber the Only an Excuse mob on their radio show about Arthur Montford at the World Cup "Ohh it'll be a riot of colour-Brazilian yellow mixing with Italian blue,a touch of mexican green and a dash of spanish red.But if its too warm for that jacket I'll just wear a t-shirt." Another good one was " "Hey Charlie(nicholas),what do you think about the aztecs?" "I dunno. Are they no a bit like a toffee crisp?"
I used to laugh when returning after the adverts, Arthur would introduce the second half highlights, advising "....where there's EVERYTHING to play for!" and it's currently 4:0.
I wondered the same... wiki Sarah O'Flaherty was signed to co-present Scottish Television's (STV) football show Scotsport, along with Jim Delahunt and Julyan Sinclair. The aim was to try and entice new and younger views to the flagship sport show but viewers tuned out and the presenters were criticised for their apparent lack of football knowledge. Over 2,000 fans signed an online petition calling for O'Flaherty and Sinclair's dismissal however with a view base of over 250,000 this was a very small proportion. After two years the pairs' contract was not renewed in 2006.
For those of us of a certain vintage, nearly all of us will look back on Scotsport with mostly something like approaching fondness & affection, simply because that's what we usually do when we look back to the past & both our individual & collective memories of it & for sure, dear old Graham Spiers certainly took my breath away when he describes oor very own Scotsport & dour, humourless Arthur Montford et al as ''magical television'' but if that's how he remembers it........
@@spreadthelove77 Indeed it does & even allowing for that indisputable fact, for ANYONE to describe the likes of Scotsport as ANY kind of ''magical television'' is, for me, COMPLETELY beyond parody......
Jeez this tune takes me back, still better than most intro music on shows today

ITV gave us Brian Moore, Gerald Sinstadt & Hugh Johns, whilst STV gave us Arthur Montford, Bob Crampsey & even Alex Cameron.....
👏👏👏👏👏
Thoroughly enjoyed this Graham
Brought back good memories 👍
Arthur Montford brought the word 'stramash' to the football world.

Remember Ian Archer. He was a encyclopaedia of knowledge

I Remember Scotsport but I don’t remember that tidy bird in the thumbnail in the blue dress
It’s Sarah O’Flaherty, known as Sarah O
I remember seeing Arthur Montford at Firs Park in the early 2000s watching his beloved Morton play East Stirling.
Arthur “SportsJacket”Montford was a stramasher of a commentator.
Who is ( was ) the gorgeous blond in the thumbnail ....anyone ?
Sarah o, sure she dated David Murray
@@alanbrown2477 I thought he said Andrea something?
@CaptainDarrick nah definitely sarah o, he was maybe talking about the person who asked him to play the piano?
If this is Sarah, she is one stunner in this pic
I wondered the same...

I was brought up watching and listening to these two icons, much better than the dross that's on just now

You guys just don't get it do you
@@Jj7733-t9f I get it purrrrrrfectly.
To be fair Graham, your regular updates on legendary Arbroath fan Sye Webster was good for a laugh in the Scotland on Sunday.
Arthur's description of every goal was the same: "it's there!"
And dear old Archie's ''he must let fly.''
I loved Scotsport
Did you tell that ‘biff’ story about the jaiket at your sellout show at the fringe, aye?
Do they still play pink Floyd on sport scene?
