I believe Debussy composed this when he was 28.Extraordinary maturity from one so young.Praise should also go to the wonderful tone of the piano and the quality of the sound recording but really,it is the superb, unhurried playing which makes this so sublime.A perfect performance.

    Beautiful, delicate playing.
    Nice dynamics in your phrasing.
You convey the dreamy feeling the piece should have quite well...
    Nice work, Ms. Ott.

Delicate and beautiful expression. And the way she plays the piano is beautiful. Everything she plays is art.

Perhaps he felt it could be improved upon.
Personally, I love it just as it is, having played it a thousand times on the piano as a young girl. For such a simple piece, it's damnably difficult to play correctly, as it has a very distinct voice all it's own. It demands that the performer get out of the way completely, or it ceases to sound natural.
