    Here in Saudi Arabia it’s called Poer and it’s been out for over a year in here. And so many owners are loving it specially the diesel engine. So many diehard Hilux are switching to Poer.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Год назад +3

      Yep, I'm hearing the same from Russia and it will take a bit for the Aussies to learn that not only Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux have the right to exist

      @@ValueCarsAU Ya here in Saudi Arabia the Ford Ranger is almost nonexistent but Hilux that you’ll see every with the isuzo DMAX and Mitsubishi L200. You also cans see a good bunch of GWM pickups from 2003 still kicking.
      Btw someone spotted a Tank 700 in one of the dealers here in Saudi Arabia I can share the pic with you if u want.

    Its a very personal choice you have here of course. We own a Pajero and go camping/ touring and off road regularly in QLD.(yes we love our Pajero) As much as I very much like the Tank 300 for instance, its capacity to go camping with the family is limited even with roof rails in use. Using a trailer is just a liability for us. A canopy on the ute would provide extra space, a separated cargo area, and no requirement to load on the roof. With safety in mind alone, it ticks a lot of boxes. Hope you enjoy expanding your horizons by 4 wheel driving, not boasting but we are headed for Frazer Island for the 2nd time this year, and if it was me I'd be swinging towards the ute for several reasons.

      Jamie, the Pajero is great when it works, a very capable and under-rated off-roader, but I was plagued with overheating issues as well as water tubes breaking underneath the valley cover of the V6 3800. The NL (3.0 or 3.5 litre) is the best of them, with frame-on-chassis construction. The NP (mine) had to have its rear axle bushings replaced by burning them out (4x) for many hours to replace - they just seized up with salt water. The NL with the leaf springs and live rear axle didn't have this problem!
      Horses for courses, and after several trips to Fraser Is. with my NP, my rear wheel alignment became so bad that I destroyed a set of brand new rear tyres (front was OK) on a trip around the Qld outback of about 4k out of Brisbane. New tyres (again), and then I found out about the four bushes connected to the rear diff via Panhard rods or whatever. No matter how well I sprayed the underside with a water blaster after being on the beach, it was stuffed. They had to be burned off, they were so badly seized. It really cost me a fortune, and then straight after that, the water tubes under the valley cover...
      I was glad to get rid of the car.

      @@rorylyons277 Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with the Pajero and always have an open ear for issues with them. Thanks for letting me know what to expect in the future. Just for Interest mine is the NW 3.2 diesel with 160,000klm on the clock. After reading your comments I will be keeping a close eye on these undercarriage issues.

    I own the Gwm ute (L version) ,my partner and i, love it.
    The only thing that absolutely pisses her and me off, is the constant DPF burnoffs ( often when you arrive to a location ).
    Now, this is important, if you fail to do a complete burnoff more then 3 times ( so basically sitting in the car in your driveway, or shopping centre for 15min to complete ) , the vehicle will go into limp mode, with check engine warning light illuminated ( easy to fix yourself - if your handy with cars, so dont go back to the dealer ).
    This is my only gripe, but if i were you Dimitri, i would opt for the tank ( i love it by the way ), since you have fond memories of your jeep you used to have

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  Год назад +1

      Hey Adam thank you mate, very insightful. I've tried Cannon-X and it was amazing. Another video is coming soon. Yeah you're right about the Tank, but the problem is that it's not exactly a Jeep and at it's price point I honestly liked driving Cannon-X more, I really did. How often do you have to do DPF burn? I heard about it but no one really says a) how often, and b) if all diesel vehicles have the same problem or is this need to manually burn only in GWM Cannons?

      @@ValueCarsAU
      To answer your question;
      A - This function comes on automatically , you literally could be 15min into a journey , and it will come on ( whilst travelling , regardless of speed ). If you stop , the engine sits at higher revs( all cars, inc, the ute, sit at about 800rpm at idle) .This is supposedly to heat up the dpf to burn off any 'particulates' that are caught in it ( it's all part of newer diesel engines to be more eco friendly , generally more restrictions are made each year to how much a engine pollutes )
      Again , you will not know when it's going to do it, as there is no DPF guage ( newer trucks do )
      I travel from the South Coast to Sydney , and it could come on at 60kms into the trip, whilst travelling at 110kms, and it's perfectly safe to do so , as the burn will be quicker, if the engine sits above 2000rpm to aid the burn.
      B - All new diesel vehicles have a dpf (Diesel Particulate Filter) , and have slightly different operation of how they complete a burn, in fact Toyota hilux / fortuner , had alot of consumer complaints about their dpf operation. ( I think that it led to a recall by memory ).
      All in all, it's not a big issue, as I work in Sydney , and there are alot of them getting about on the road lately, but it's something you will come across.
      P.s , same little sunglass holder like the haval 😉

    I would say go with the Cannon Dimitri. I have a CannonX on order, great value for money. I test drove the ute twice, reviewed and reviewed until I finally got my head around a Chinese Ute. I no longer need 0-100 in quick time. As I get older I prefer value for money and comfort. My main concerns are the apparent regular dpf regens, poor speaker quality and the abrupt turbo boost, but I can live with that.
    I am currently coming from an Amarok V6 (4yrs). I cancelled my current Amarok Aventura order to save 40k.
    Looking forward to a GWM Cannon video from your Russian mechanic mate.

      Exactly my thoughts mate. Depends on the stage of life too. If you're working in the city and not really driving out much - at all - I'd say a Ute is probably excessive. I do drive to central coast and some other areas rather regularly though.

    the advantage about the utes, is good for tradies, Camping, shoping to burnnings to carry big items and it's a very good family car! and have 2 choice to buy 4WD or 2WD, i don't realy need to buy a ute but if i need to buy large SUV I prefer buy the Ute and it does look much nicer, and you can see utes are more popular then Sedans and Hacthback....

    Dimitri, How do the Cannon and Tank300 compare with virtual controls buried in the screen vs physical buttons? Until owning the H6 Ultra I've never realised how much I like and need buttons. My next purchase will be towards a car with physical buttons for volume, AC, hot/cold temp, air recirculation, and seat heating/cooling.

      Hey mate, I'll need to take a closer look, but had 2 test drives of 2 different Cannon models and both had better tuned ELK (yes it is there, but nothing like H6), and controls of the radio and air con are right there, as physical knobs, which is great too.

      Hey mate I test drove base model a couple of days ago and also tried Cannon X today. XSR is out of my price range (and X kinda is too), so I'm trying to see if I can fit into L financially, or should I just consider getting a base model and then adding a few things to it - which are cheaper in aftermarket, such as the sports bar at the back (or a canopy). Have you considered those options?

    There doesn't seem to be much difference between any of these Chinese dual cabs.
    As a workhorse they compete well against all the Japanese units built in Thailand. The Chinese are on a winner with these things but no one should buy a dual cab for personal use only. Too big, too thirsty, too unsafe.

Same logic would apply to any power cars (nowhere to speed really), luxury cars (why waste extreme money?) and majority of Toyotas (why wait 24+ months for delivery?). I think it’s great for what it is. But if you have a look through owners forums and long term reviews, too many customers have had their vehicle go in to limp mode in dangerous situations. I think they have some work to do to get the automatic burn working to the same level as the competition
