  • The Piper Loop is a 26 mile loop through the Quehanna Wilds. This loop is formed using the East Cross Connector, the Quehanna Trail, and several smaller side trails. This makes an excellent weekend loop and would be a great loop for novice and experienced hikers alike. Plentiful water, beautiful scenery, and abundant campsites are the highlights of this loop. The Quehanna Wilds are also home to Pennsylvania's wild elk herds.

Hi. I have enjoyed your videos...I think Ive seen them all now. You hike in PA mainly...an area I am interested in. Your videos are informative in that it shows us areas we may like to visit and gives us a nice view and 'feel' for the trails ahead of us. We are older...[70s] and not into doing miles...rather a slow easy pace thru the woods...a shady glen with a little stream...a place to hang hammocks. Thats us. We appreciate you and others out there 'Breakin Trail' for us old folk...showin us the way. Thanks...and keep up the good work. God Bless and keep on Embracin the Uphill!

Great hike so cool that you had the coyote encounter. I got to see one on trail in Montana on of my best wildlife encounters. Thanks for sharing this one.

Very cool sneaking up on that coyote! I did this loop back in June starting near Yellowsnake Campground. Quehanna is an underrated area . Great stuff as always✌

Yeah I was pretty shocked I got that close to him. I'm a big fan of the Quehanna area. So many loop options if you get creative. Happy hiking!

Thanks Jeremy! The last mile to camp and the last mile to the car are always the longest. Happy hiking!

Cool! Walked up on a coyote!
Is there a tracing of the loop you did in AllTrails? Or can you list out each trail you were on? I didn't catch it all in the video. Nice videography!

Thanks! I'm not sure if there is a tracing anywhere or not. I think I just used the Quehanna East Cross Connector, the Quehanna, and Big Spring Draft Trail. If you get a copy of the Quehanna East map it shouldn't be too hard to make up this loop. It was a nice weekend get away. Happy hiking!

Good to see you back out Caleb! Those link trails in that area are really nice. There’s a sweet semi hidden campsite along the Ralph Seeley trail.

Great trip! You really utilize all the side trails around the Quehanna Trail. It really is an underrated trail system.
I hiked the main 70+ mile loop a few months back and really enjoyed the open meadows and great campsites!
Carrying that saw to do some trail maintenance is a great idea!
That coyote encounter was awesome! Thanks cool you got it on camera!
Are you gonna do some hikes outside PA?
The Catskills got some gnarly trails…🤔

Thanks for the positive feedback! Yeah I was shocked I got that coyote encounter on film. I've done the whole Quehanna twice and enjoyed it thoroughly both times. I haven't ventured into New York yet but I hear there are some awesome trails.

Did you ever get to see any Elk ? You sure are passing through some areas known to have a lot of them. At the very least you should hear some bugling in those parts

I saw some when I hiked the Quehanna years ago before I started filming. If you watch my Elk Trail video I had some good elk encounters on that trip.
