He could get fitted by the Taylor Made trailer and it wouldn’t improve his striking. His swing is rough and jerky. He blades, toes and chunks his wedges all the time still. His ball striking is average. He’s a bogey golfer from tee to green. His swing isn’t pure and that’ll always show on his club face. His jerky ass swing is 100% the reason why his shots go all over the place. In a matter of any 3 holes you’ll see him hook one, slice one, chunk one and blade one. He has a bogey golfer swing
Awesome content, attention to detail and upbeat videos Grant, keep it up. Have you ever thought of doing a video about the older myth of a driver takeaway being low and slow versus how Rory and Bryson promote a much faster takeaway?
Grant, I have a suggestion for a GGL video. On the course, all of you guys hit down on the ball and take nice $5 bill sized divots that fly 20 feet on iron shots. Obviously you can't do that at all when you are hitting hundreds of shots off the mat in the simulator. How do all of you keep that good "ball first" move when you go back and forth from the GGL sim to the course?
By making sure you shift weight before starting the down swing. If you haven’t heard of dr.kwon on RUclips I suggest you check him out. He made his own 3d tracking system and has been studying the swing for a long time. He has simplified a proper swing into a few drills/exercises. Sounds to good to be true but if you stick with it trust me it works. The step drill and rope swing drill in particular really helped me.
Can you explain the swing data at 9:29? Positive clubpath 2.4 deg, Face ang at 4 deg open, Face to path 1.6 open.. How can that ever be a draw, and not a power fade?
I have a couple of questions about this video. Micah said he has a 44" driver. Do any of the rest of you play shorter than standard? Does anybody play the 45.75" length most off the shelf drivers are sold at now? For those that play shorter drivers, do you do anything to correct swing weight? Such as hot melt, tape or install heavier weights? Or are these custom built for you? Do you guys think about swing weights?
@@DanWessonSpecialist I agree. I used to build mine to 44.75". My current one is 45". Still 3/4” shorter than standard. But every 1/2” you cut off takes off 3 swing weight points. Cutting a 45.75 driver down to 44.5" will take off 7.5 swing weight points. So you'd have to add about 15 grams of weight to the head to get the same feel as you had before. A lighter swing weight will also make the shaft flex less. So I try and get drivers with changeable weights where I can get heavier replacement weights. I'm wondering if these guys do this or just cut it down and play a much lighter swing weight.
Grant, I am the same with my driver... It has to have some weight with it! I currently have a Cobra Speedzone with a 18g (stock is 14g) weight in it, matched with a HZRDOUS black smoke shaft. I also need a heavier driver, or I cannot feel the club at all!
HI, for building up the club head speed, does all of you use the same strategy or each of you have different methods? Can you suggest some exercises or work out ?
I think Steve would do well in a lighter swingweight. Put him in a D0 I’ll bet he gains so much more consistency. He always looks like he’s falling over
FYI. I've played golf for 23 years and I'm just figuring out that industry wide Red shafts go high in the air, blue shafts give you a mid trajectory and black or dark colored shafts give you a low trajectory. That's why you always see tour pro's with black or dark colored shafts and once in a while you'll see a blue shaft in a tour players driver. I've never seen a tour pro with a red shaft in their driver.
Tiger Woods plays a Diamana D series shaft. Not spinny, at all. Its a low launch low spin shaft. The Whiteboard is one of the most well known low spin shafts ever produced.
Steve should at least wear shoes when he does these , as sandals might hurt him a little . LOL . great swing by everyone . thanks for letting us know what your hitting . cheers
It’s actually hard to curve a higher spin club. Try shaping a gap wedge and then a 6i. Backspin makes it harder to tilt spin axis. Backspin competes with sidespin.
I would think comparing a wedge and 6iron where the loft is drastically different to a driver with a different shaft is not the same. Higher spin on a driver means its more workable. Due to the loft difference of the wedge vs the 6iron it makes the wedge more difficult to work
Simply not true. You can just use this crazy invention called google if you don’t believe me. Why was everyone so amazed at bubba’s masters winning wedge hook shot? Because it’s hard to curve wedges as they spin back at 10k rpm. Why do people slice and hook a driver so badly? This spin access tilts more easily. Why is it harder to hit a 5 degree driver straight than a 10.5 degree? Cause 5 spins much less. So a titled spin access has more dramatic effect. Why do some players choose a max head vs a sub zero head from Callaway to get it straighter. Cause the max head spins a lot more and is hard to curve. Harder to curve on purpose or on accident. Tiger at times has played a spinnier driver set up cause he really struggled for long periods of his career in hitting it straight. Not cause he wanted to hit huge draws and fades with his driver. Tiger almost always over the last 15 year was trying to hit a straight or slight fade with driver. He was sacrificing distance with driver for straight. The size of a clubhead and perimeter weighting will also affect curve. All else equal it’s easier to work a club if it’s smaller and has less perimeter weight.
@@thescarn882 gear effect isnt a factor in trying to shape a shot. you dont purposefuly try to hit a shot off the heel to fade it and off the toe to draw it. you aim for center contact and dictate ball flight with face angle and path.
I am consistently hitting my driver off the toe side with misses being absolute duck hooks. I'm looking for a good explanation to help fix it. Thanks for all the content!
toe hits will result in a hook flight. its called gear effect. a heal hit sends it the opposite way. hitting it off the toe usually is accompanied by an excessive inside path. exacberating the duck hook. cant say for sure wiithout seeing the swing. make sure path is neutralish and put something inside of the ball line and avoid hitting it.

Slightly off topic, but when does that pink headcover come out?
Steven… How are you doing a Labs vid in slides?
Most pros have negative paths watch the trackman video library. A negative club path does not mean your not steep necessarily
No they don’t. PGA tour average is 2.6 degrees in to out.
@@paybax where did you find this
If you guys can do a GG Lab on how to get your club speed up, for us average golfers hitting around 240-250yds, like how you should whip the club, release, etc. Because it looks like you guys dont swing very hard and are getting high club speeds, but when we swing out of our shoes, doesnt speed up club speed a bunch
sounds like your kinematic sequence is off. probably starting the downswing with your arms. should start from ground up. youtube some vids about it
I would have thought that swapping drivers around the way Steve does is just about the worst possible thing you could do?
When are we getting our own good good crew in Australia?
