Nice to meet you. I'm Japanese Keroro fan. In addition to the fact that the original manga is still serialized, a new anime project also started in April of this year. However, due to the timing of the project announcement, many anime fans mistakenly think it is an April Fool's Day event.
I’m so old that I remember Sgt Frog being on Netflix, being the first anime I ever watched I really hope they make a reboot or something, cuz the humor on that show was something else.
I recently remembered that one of the Soul Calibur games ( Soul Calibur V, I think), there was a guest character you can play as called Angol Fear. She was Angol Mois' cousin and she even appeared in the manga to investigate why Mois hadn't destroyed Earth yet.
this anime is my childhood, I hope oneday it'll go mainstream again. I remember stop reading manga when there's a new character who's keroro lookalike character with pointy ears, it felt like the story just kinda felt weird and random
Keroro Gunso was the first anime I ever watched!! I watched it in parts on RUclips when I was 9-10 years old (iykyk!!) So glad to see other people sharing their love of one of my favorite shows :,)
it means the WORLD to me that you made this video.... keroro gunso is like . my biggest hyperfixation ever and ive been a fan of it for a while now and it just . makes me so happy seeing someone make a video about it .... i wish to be able to go to all the keroro attractions in both japan and south korea cuz they are both still really big there after 20 years!
i feel the same way! the last time I was in Japan, I barely saw any keroro things, but I hope to visit again and hopefully see more if I look in the right places...!
I'm so glad to see another video about Keroro! A couple years back a friend got me into the anime and it's sorta been my favorite thing ever, so I'm always scavenging the web for cool stuff about everyone's favorite frog alien. This video was super interesting and informative! I was interested to hear Todd Haberkorn's words about how big it was for him. It was also super sweet to hear stories back in Japan about how much this goofy circle headed frog brought joy to so many. Also I forgot all about that video of the kid screaming and running away from the Keroro mascot lol
i love sgt frog, thank you so much for making this video!!! it makes me sad how keroro and his platoon are pretty much forgotten by the public now, they're such lovable characters and the anime is so sweet and funny :( it's the anime's 20th anniversary and manga's 25th anni this year, so i really hope that we'll see something new from this franchise aside from random japanese or korean marketing campaigns
Nostalgia. Sgt Frog was *huge* back then. It was similar in terms of fame level of current shows such as Spy x Family, even though anime back then wasnt as popular as it is now
sgt frog is legendary 😭😭😭 people are missing out on this anime and it’s depressing. i haven’t been a fan for too long, but enough time has passed anyways i rlly like tamama :)
As a long time fan of the series it’s honestly it’s sad how Keroro fell from popularity when the anime ended in 2011. I still have hopes that one day a proper continuation or reboot will come to fruition.
I'm all here for these deep dives into forgotten 2000s anime. Keroro has been my top 3 comfort anime for many years now, I'm so glad to see people still talk about it to this day
Keroro is a treasure and I really wish more people knew this ;-; Amazing work on the video! They all mean a lot to me too, so it was awesome to see the love they get in Japan. Those statues are adorable too
@@chu-chuns Agreed! Ever since I just came across that Mother from "The Cavidians of Cavity 9" is an actual boss from that game. ruclips.net/video/yeZEGpQ72U0/видео.html
You mentioned wanted to know more about keroro land and I have a mutual on tumblr who has posted scans from a few of them! Not many people know but sgt frog has a good portion of people in the fandom still active on tumblr (me included)
17:45 the manga is actually still ongoing ^^ its on its 33rd volume, but doesnt get translated anymore, but there are theories that sgt frog anime might come back
Ngl that show is one of the best anime alive, I don't get how my classmates hates it, it's so good and amazing, sometime the show makes me cry,I was so sad when they ended the anime. But good news, they are doing another season, the official channel posted the trailer, I hope it will go viral again. I'm into that fandom again, cause I rewatch it,the fandom kinda dies, but i hope the fandom/community will come back viral again
Way back when, I would play Keroro RPG in Japanese and had no idea how to progress due to the language barrier, but the I have fondness for those memories. Amazingly, I only learned from this video that the frogs were wannabe invaders.
augh, i'm thankful someone made a video on keroro gunsou. i loved that show as a kid and i love it now!!!it brings much joy to my life and every day i live in vain hoping that one day it'll get more popular in the west again :(
ah what an awesome video!!! I've only recently discovered sgt frog (ever aired here in Poland) and im so happy to see people talk about it!!!!! love this so much also id love to see a Sgt Frog eBay dive, I've seen so much obscure merchandise and its all hilarious, I FOUND A PICTURE OF A KERORO HOTEL ROOM??? So yeah omg im so happy you made this vid !!!!!!
This was a super fascinating video, certainly never imagined I’d see this kind of stuff covered in English! Even though the 2000s heyday is over there’s a lot of Keroro events in Japan still, just much more targeted to the adults that grew up with the series rather than children. It’s huge in Korea too; I’d say it rivals the Japanese fanbase these days, with their own exclusive events and mobile games and everything. Definitely keep an eye on the series’s official twitter account because there’s plenty of new merch and events going on for the anime’s 20th anniversary 👀 Of course the merchandise nowadays is the more standard collectible fare that you see in pop-up shops all the time, no more scales and toasters LOL so I would definitely watch a video about the more obscure older products! As an aside, I wouldn’t bet on a new full season of the anime as the voice actors are much older/somewhat less active now and the original staff has been moved around a lot, but the VAs have said they’re interested in some kind of return project so maybe we’ll get a new movie or OVA/ONA someday!
aw thank you for your sweet comment! yes, it's certainly fascinating how keroro has popped off in Korea as well. I remember seeing Seohyun of girls generation enjoying keroro and being surprised but glad to see I shared that interest with one of my idols! i definitely will keep an eye out for news from the 20th anniversary ^^
I saw Keroro Gunso for the first time (I prefer to call the franchise that way because the English title in the USA gives me VERY bad associations) in the 5th grade (late 2021) I started watching anime in December 2021 while sick This year will be 3 years since I've been in the fandom
I stumbled across the dubbed SGT Frog episodes on RUclips as a kid after watching Ouran High School Host Club and Death Note on Netflix… I do believe it was a canon event!
Why doesn't Mine Yoshizaki make his American Melody Honey the Keroro Channel mascot? She can also be adapted into the episodes of The Melody Honey Program, comic books, webcomics, internet cartoons, and advertisements. According to mine yoshizaki's blog, a new webtoon starring Honey was in development. She was meant to be a recurring character, but Keroro Channel liked the character and many plot points featuring him were promise. After mine yoshizaki and fumitoshi oizaki was allowed the right to use the character as he pleased and he made Melody Honey the mascot of Keroro Channel. Melody Honey can be a main character within many subsequent forms of media produced by Keroro Channel.
This was really cool, I'd love to visit Kumomoto someday too and see the love they've got for the platoon. But for now, I can't wait to see what's coming in the near future with the return of the anime!
Wait, did manga end in 2018? I thought it was still going on, at least according to fanon wiki most recent voume was relased in may 26, 2023. I may be wrong throught, it's been a while since I last cheked this series.

It's kinda hard for me to not feel melancholic and nostalgic for it... Keroro always makes me think of a better time...
I'm 17 (so born a few years late to experience its peak), but as a child, I loved this show so much :))
I just remembered that Sanrio did a collab with Sgt.Frog last week
