My very first car was a stock XY Falcon 87,000 km,s six cylinder auto bucket seats immaculate condition. Same story " i wish i never sold it". The XY Falcon is such a classic car. That silver GTHO is something very special indeed. I would love to see a follow up vid of how much it sells for & what the new owner foes with it.
I went and had a look at the car as it was close to work,he was correct about the interior,it would only need a good detail,the body is in pretty good condition and the floors are clean,front crossmember undamaged and the sump was in perfect condition. Will be a beatiful vehicle once restored. Whoever does the resto will love the lack of tin worm.
I hope they don’t charge this guy a sellers premium. Auction rooms are known to charge up to 25 percent not all but some . With the coverage they are getting, there should be no sellers premium . Let’s keep an eye on this . This is a fair comment and should not be taken down .

@@mattparoz4246 I didnt know that about teardrops on all GT xy's, but what I do know is the Genuine xygt HO teardrops were aluminium, just like the genuine HO rear wings. All aftermarket mirrors & wings are Fibreglass/Gel so every Dick & Harry has them. The drivers side remote mirror was an option also, as opposed to the standard 'physically touch to adjust'' mirror.

My own classics include my ‘69 Fiat AC 124 Sport that I have owned since 1980 (it was my 2nd car) and my ‘69 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 TI (which a PO updated to Giulia Super Specs). These cars too have significantly increased in value over the years and especially in comparison to what I paid for them.

These were known as Ex Taxis. I owned an XA jg33. Fords always drive like taxis. The desire is nostalgia. For 300k you could do something more interesting than park an ex taxi in a garage.
I had a 300kw FGX G6E Turbo. Yeah it drove like a taxi. But with leather, climate and cruise. 8.5/Ltr to the 100km on the highway at 110kmh. Pass cars with ease and scare ya f**king pants off when you put the foot flat. Way better than a standard taxi. 😂 I also have a 302 XA GS sedan that I drove 10hrs straight to summernats on the 1972 shocks, in 2017, was comfy as fuck. I don't get your grandstanding?
Better sit down....way back when a car got you from a to b, and we sort of didn't care to much about what what we did with them...I had a beat to hell XY GT...rust, dints, yellow guard on the right side of a red car..interior was nackered,.bit smoky in the motor etc etc....one day the decision was made to transfer the motor, gear box and diff into our stock car for the circle dirt track...and the rusty body was gas axed into ute sized bits and buried in the dump..tags still on the car....after one season on the dirt, the race wreck was sold for 200 bucks....with a used a bit GT motor in it.....many years later, hindsight became a thing😂

HO stood for highly optioned and only limited numbers were made to allow the GTHO to qualify for what was then the Bathurst 500, think it included heads exhaust suspension.
The main difference is the engine, the ho is built to a higher spec with massive cam ect. Visually on the outside you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Yeh lets all drool over some thing that 99.99% of us can never have. Window shopping just make you more miserable as you never get to have one. But when I win xlotto I will have a very large shed to fill.
They never lost value from new. A good phase 3 was worth $20,000 in 1980. The RT's and XU1's never had the desirability until well into the late eighties.

really good detail around 1,200 bucks under the car inside and out and then fix all the rust spots and new paint job, around 20K to 30K done properly, maybe take it to the creation brothers in WA. Then you have a good 250K or more because its a original car, but wait you still have the engine and running gear to re fresh, which is even more money so after its all done and dusted its will cost around 50 to 70K to fix up ,but leaving everything original, good luck to the new owner and i hope it sells or keeps it. That's the only thing ford owners thing they have gold, yet the same period in holden say a 1972 HQ GTS 350 sedan is around the same price, but never used to be, they were around 50% less to buy about 15 years ago, but not now? I know because when i checked through the yellow book, which was the retail trades price guide for all cars sold in au and based on age, model and kms and condition from fair, to good to concourse etc.🦘🦘🦘🦘✌✌👍👍

I noticed that one is optioned with the HO mirrors. I havent seen an XYGT in that colour before.
I pretty certain that all XY GT’s had the “teardrop” side mirror, (different to the XW GT) and the passenger side was an option. 🇦🇺🤙🏼

It didn't close properly, popped back out, probably left his cleaning rag in the jamb.

They were a good car i owned one JG33 XYGT 4 sp but there not as good as people carry on about them so overrated and so over priced.
