Thanks! A hollow skybox is easy to make BUT horrible for performance. Essentially it can mean that the game will try to draw EVERY bit of the level all the time, even places you can't see. It's a huge optimization no-no! I use hollow skyboxes only for grayboxes - never for a 'real' final map!
i was searching for mapping timelapses and that's how i came across your channel, sadly i've already seen al cs:go mapping timelapses currently on youtube :(
FlyGames SK Hey thanks for watching. To do that, you need to let the game create a nav mesh for you and then you need to edit that ingame. It's pretty complicated and lengthy but I may make a tutorial for that at some point. If you don't want to wait, google "csgo hammer nav mesh" or something and read up on it yourself. Maybe there's even a RUclips tutorial for that out there, dunno. Good luck!
if it is not too late, i have a question. When i make displacements on different brushes, all the grid sizes are different, even though i set them all to the same power. Any ideas why?
Pappatus You mean the timelapse? That takes a lot of time and I'm SUPER busy right now. Sorry! :( I will have another tutorial out in the next 2 days though!
Been mapping for over 10 years, and this is the first time learning about the AutoSew feature. Thank you.
Your tips with making corners helped a ton. Thanks!

Thank you, I agree. Huge upgrade over a large planar surface.

Kenny Redux Thank you very much for watching, glad it helped!
You answered all my questions. Thanks!
Great tips! Just curious, would it be easier to just create a hollow skybox around the entire map to prevent leak? Anyways, thanks!

But in hl2 and episodes the skybox is normaly open and the game preforms well on a french fry
I've been using dotted grid since 1.6 and seeing the lines instead makes me dizzy. How do you even see the blocks through them?
+Arnolds Kļavenieks I see them just fine but I guess it's just what you're used to!
can u make mapping timelapse series?
KivilaZ That's a great idea, I'll think about ways to do that. Cheers!

Sorry for this, but "sew" is pronounced like "so" is. Yes, English spelling is stupid.
