*Brian Jones. He is part of the club of 27* (celebrities who died at that age) It was the most experimental of the Stones, the one that played rare instruments for rock: the mandolin, the Hindu zither, the dulcimer, the marimba, the mellotron, the harp or the tubular bells. 😵 Several of the group's first-stage riffs belong to him, as do most of the arrangements with curious instruments.
👉 Brian Jones passed away on the night of July 3, 1969, *when not even a month had passed since Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts appeared at his house to inform him that he would no longer be part of The Rolling Stones*

This song has been used in some well-known movies/tv shows about the Vietnam War (I remember it in Full Metal Jacket) - and it came out right in the midst of it (1966) so it's been linked with a soldier suffering PTSD and depression - losing friends to death (line of black cars and flowers/funeral procession) - it could be interpreted as the struggles of anyone having dark thoughts- he says he has to turn his head when "girls walk by until the darkness goes" - is he having thoughts of violent assault? Of course, it was the mid-60s so maybe it's about drug induced paranoia? I guess we'll never know, unless Richards and Jagger decide to tell us. (suggestions for more reactions - two other early Stones songs "Under My Thumb" and "Get Off Of My Cloud"" - As I'm sure many here know, the Stones are contemporaries of the Beatles and were an important part of The British Invasion - their first appearance on Ed Sullivan (important milestone in those days) was October 1964 - about 8 months after the Beatles.

The video is even worse, it says "Don't wanna see the sun", which makes zero sense. Also I'm sure Jagger says "I wanna see you paint it (or maybe 'painted'), paint it black", not "I wanna see your face" - where 'face' came from eludes me. It's a weird thing - if someone does a lyric video it's almost a guarantee that they mess them up.

The Rolling Stones are one badass rock-n-roll band and have been since 1962! "Play With Fire", "Get Off My Cloud", "19th Nervous Breakdown", "Mother's Little Helper" are the names of a few hits from their earlier years. "2000 Light Years From Home" marked their foray into psychedelia. After that they stuck with hard rocking blues -- "Let It Bleed", "Live With Me", "Monkey Man", "Honky Tonk Women", "Brown Sugar", "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "Tumbling Dice", "Beast of Burden" ... far too many songs to list them all. They also just released a song last week -- "Criss Cross" -- a groovy little outtake from 1973.

The Rolling Stones just can't be beat. They've been consistently turning out quality music since around late 1963-early 1964. The started as a blues outfit, but later branched out into other forms of music. Charlie Watts, their drummer, is to me one of the best drummers to come out of the '60's (no offense to Ringo, who is also incredible!). You might want to check out: "She's so Cold", "Honky Tonk Women, "She's a Rainbow," "Beast of Burden" and "You can't Always Get What You Want". Mick Jagger, their lead singer has also put out some incredible solo music. You might want to check out: "Evening Gown" and "Just Another Night". Perfect, perfect rock music - as well as many other genres!

*Brian Jones. He is part of the club of 27* (celebrities who died at that age) It was the most experimental of the Stones, the one that played rare instruments for rock: the mandolin, the Hindu zither, the dulcimer, the marimba, the mellotron, the harp or the tubular bells. 😱 Several of the group's first-stage riffs belong to him, as do most of the arrangements with curious instruments. 😭 Brian Jones passed away on the night of July 3, 1969, *when not even a month had passed since Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts appeared at his house to inform him that he would no longer be part of The Rolling Stones*

That Egyptian sound is an Sitar from India played by the founder of The Rolling Stones Brian Jones who was a multiple talented instrumentalists musician! Who died in 1969 a month after the band members he hired fired him , after they lost him they lost the soul of The Rolling Stones ! He made songs better !

They were very young when they wrote many of their classics. Some astonishingly mature lyrics in many of those songs.

"I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby, it just happens every day". Babies are born everyday, people die everyday. He's obviously singing about a funeral, and the loss of a loved one.

very used by *The* *Beatles* in their Songs after *George* *Harrison* introduce in the Harmonies and by some 60's Rock Bands.

In the late 1980s, “” became with the War due to its use in both the ending credits of the 1987 film Full Metal Jacket and its use as the theme song for Tour Of Duty, a CBS-TV show about the war which ran from 1987-1990.

I believe The Rolling Stones started in 1962 by Brian Jones and Keith Richards. Brian was the one who brought in novel instruments to the songs, i.e. sitar, lute, flute, harpsichord are just a few. My favorite songs are "Ruby Tuesday", "2000 Light-Years from Home", "Jumping Jack Flash", and "Monkey Man". A band called Psychic TV has a song called "Godstar" which is about the lead singer meeting Brian Jones as a teen. It also dwells on the conspiracy theory that Brian Jones was murdered with Jagger and Richard's agreement.
