I’d like to see more videos on judos chokes and strangles, really good break downs and explanation seeing this in slow motion is a learning tool in itself keep up the good work chadi
Just to clarify. Those 20 seconds used to be 30 seconds, and not just that. Just as today you could break the count by getting back into half-guard or full guard, BUT, most important is that you could also break the pin/osaekomi, by getting the both of you off the mat. So I hope you can understand why old school Judo went for a submission far more often.
Excellent Chadi. Getting submitted with a well placed shime waza is unpleasant and it can happen very quickly. I learned somewhat late in Judo: Never let uke get your neck. Never. There's a simple technique to counter many chokes. It is described by a couple of young Russian BJJ players on youtube. They call it 'The Paw'. It is essentially an over-hook from below. Cheers.
Once again, very entertaining and informative! While we're on the topic of ne waza, I have a question. When I watch IJF Judo, I feel like the women are much more willing to engage in ne waza than the men. Do you think that perception is accurate? And if so, why do you think that is?
Great videos as always. For future refence it would be cool if you could put some of the matches you mentioned in your description. Also, for anyone who's interested here is the Shori Hamada video. watch?v=0WkkImbXVGk&ab_channel=Judo
Judi newaza father and bjj son. Bjj changed rules and they hate osoikomi so they start from there and say subs only. Doesn't make sense in a practical way for fighting strategy but each his own. There's art and that doesn't make sense either i say. Long love judo!!!
I think a good osaekomi is a great self defense. U don't hurt ur opponent that much , and u get the flexibility to punch if need to while maintaining a control.
Merry Christmas Judokas🙏
And to you too
Chadi thank you so much for uploading especially on a holiday, Merry Christmas.
Thank you Bernie! To you and your family
@@Chadi no probs.
I love the swiftness of the newaza in judo.

Another honorable mention could be Daria Bilodid with her sankaku. You also show her a few times in the footage :)
You're right
your idea of kimura-gracie event to hold every year, will draw BJJ and Judo together. I will be excited for that event also.hahah
I reached out to some people but no response

Yes it's true! I'm not sure but maybe they have more leverage in the ground and thus more efficient
All Japan Newaza specialist! Cool!
Indeed
Chadi, please can you list the techniques and your choice here?
It's wasn't about techniques per say but more about transition and ingenuity
Any sankakujime clips ?
There are plenty, grappler kingdom in his their choking highlights showed a couple
Can't believe anyone giving a thumbs down, probably those sour grapes of judo newaza 😁 btw hadaka Jime is banned, i never seen it in IJF judo?
It exists, 2019 choke highlights there are a few examples
Where is Krpálek? Best ne-waza master in the world?
Krpalek is indeed a great master, but there pioneers before him
