    as someone with playing strength of about 1600 i play against my friend (French defender) who plays at ~1800 strength i win about 7% of games against him… Yeah fuck french defense

      I used to have problems facing the French, too. So I started playing it as black to understand it better. Now, it's my favorite opening to play, from either side.

    as someone who use to play the French variation, the sicilian is better, but you can always play the French to surprise your friends like i did, still i love the new style of video

    french defense is my favourite black opening! not because i'm french and decided to learn this opening called "french" defense, but because i win every time my opponent never played against this opening ^^

    3:13 but why doesnt he take with the bishop? This way his queens keeps protecting all his pieces.

      He loses bishop instantly since moving bishop means blocking queen in the horizontal row. This basically means we can play Rxf2 and then claim the bishop.

    I win with the french but not with the Caro Kan't. Don't know what I am doing wrong in the Caro Kan't but have no luck with it. It's the advance variation in the French that I do well with. Maybe because most people don't play the advance with white in the Caro Kan't

    The French Defense is bad for Black because you're supposed to be attacking on the side you have more space on, and you castled on the Kingside, Black should've done Queenside.
