    During a brief break in the early spring weather here in New England we headed offshore to do some ground fishing. We were primarily targeting haddock but cod, pollock, cusk, hake, red fishing and dog fish are also common. Minimum size limit for haddock in 2020 is 17 inches and the each licensed angler can keep up to 15 fish.

    Just getting into fishing for haddock this season…what type of lures do you recommend?

      i fish with cut surf clams for haddock but the Nomad Design Gypsea 120 Saltwater Jig 4.2oz in the Sardine or Pink work good as well.

      Can you use mackerel chunk?

    • @FishingWithBoyt

      we use surf clams cut into small strips. Mackerel chucks get picked off and squid for some reason does not work as good for haddock.

      Straight up and down 16 oz with braid, double overkill plus every short dead, seagull food

    • @FishingWithBoyt
      @FishingWithBoyt  2 года назад

      @@brynja9973 high speed reels gets them up quick and we minimize the time out of the water so they actually don't have a problem getting down. We occasionally have to vent a Cusk or big Cod but the Haddock and Pollock don't really suffer from baro trauma. We also will move after 2 or 3 drops if we aren't pulling up keepers.
