International Dj Association World Championship is one of two major Dj competitions these days (besides DMC World). The 2018 event was the 12th edition of the battle.

@Ronnie van Zanten he won't battle anymone he decided early on he wasn't a battle dj when he entered a battle and did acid before the battle and he ended up freezing on the spot because of the pressure...he never entered a battle again after that

Love D-Styles - His style is so clean, funky and musical - its deceptively simple but still technically well informed- Genius level
Love the guy. He can do all of the complicated scratches but also knows how to make great melodies from just doing simple releases. Much more musical than many turntablists.

I got to meet him in person in 2012 for the best junkies 20 anniversary at brooklyn bowl and i must say hes one of the most humble human beings. I also met the whole best junkies crew and got my vinyl autographed by them all. Best day of my life
I've been listening to the skratch picklez since around 96 a lot of other djs too, DStyles and Craze are the two most well rounded DJs all time.

Very few turntablists ride the rhythm like D-Styles. The guy is IN the pocket of whatever groove he plays - while many others are flailing around with no relevance to the beat underneath them.
At 7.58 he presses so hard on the platter to make it stop while pulling back on the ahhh, to make it appear the platter isn't spinning. Unless he's used his thumb to hold it.

don't get it wrong, D-styles is a legend. But i'm getting sick of watching the same showcase from 2003 all over again. every video titled "d-styles showcase" from 2000 till now is all the same. I could watch this video without the audio and knowing perfectly what is he playing

I know right. Big fan of D-Styles but I've been skimming around his performances for highlights. I'd rather watch a crew session and hope some crazy shit jumps off.
@C.J. Love i get your point and i agree with you but not totally. In the turntablism world, especially today with all the technology and stuff, you expect legends like D come up with something new. At least a remix or a new way to perform his tracks, fans like me are craving for years to hear something new

musical wins over technical all day , he did nothing technical that an average turntablist cant do he just uses a good selection of samples and puts it all together nice and consistently , , this is how it should be done
He did nothing technical an average dj couldn't do? Average my ass. Been scratching long time and can assure you this shit is light years from the average dj. Precision cutting and technical timing like clockwork
He does a lot, technically, that average turntablists dream of being able to do. He's literally the idol of a lot of 'average turntablists'. His musicality is amazing but there's 30 years or near of practice in his technique too.
This guy can do pretty much every single scratch under the sun. Even the more basic stuff he does so cleanly. Probably my favourite turntablist as he knows what sounds good rather than just trying to cut as quick as possible.
I agree with all the comments above. Reason I have been scratching (I mean obbessively...like you really need to.. to up your game) since I got my turntables age 14. I am now 32 and have never got bored or had time off and I still try to break down what he is doing for inspiration. He is tight.
@@MrShowbizben yeah be can do them all but this whole routine was pretty basic on what cuts he was actually doing they are cuts every scratch dj should be able to do just expected perfectly with well thought out samples that are cut appropriately
So these (more than convenient) BUTTONS on the Rane are slowly but surely replacing WAX & the hassle of diggin' through crates, listening to rec.'s to find fav' scratch samples, stacking/placing vinyl around you for quicker access as your mix gets underway, etc. Huge advantage for re-mixing & mega-mix projects. Great gadget for the next-generation of turntablists! Less difficultyness & discouragement for kids to continue practing, for sure. We all love pressing BuTTonS!

@@rockhills stopped doing my homework when the cdj's💽💽 stormed into the scene & then totally dropped out when Serato took over. Been home-schooling myself ever since. Born & raised to control wax with my own 2 👐's. If I'm ever in a mix & 'bout to train-wreck..... I'll proudly let her wreck than to submit to any help from digitally aided tech. Props' to all the freshmen for mastering & pushing the limits on da' latest digital control, d.j. friendly, tech smart device's.👍 Keep inovating!
