One of my favourite stouts this one. Been drinking it for years. I think they packed a lot of flavour in it, without making it hard to drink. I like my Irish stouts, and this is very similar in style. 8.5/10 for me. (Best stout I ever had was at the porterhouse brewery in Dublin. "Plain stout" I believe it was called). Cheers from Stockholm, Sweden.
Have a try of White Rabbit Dark Ale, it's really good, if I had to choose 3 Dark Ale's or Stouts, it'll be - Guinness, Cooper's Stout and White Rabbit Dark Ale
white rabbit is okay, it has a caramel kind of sweetness and flavour. It's not really the same thing as a stout, but it's drinkable and nice. I like the bitterness of the coopers extra
Fair call on this one. I love it. Even in sub tropics winter goes down a treat in AUS! Its good value in Australia price wise if that's of any consideration also.
I've never tried their bottled stout but the homebrew kit version they make is one of the best stouts for those who use homebrew kits. it even beats many commercial stouts. I also enjoy their Pale Ale and Sparkling Ale. It's a shame there aren't more of their beers easily available in the UK as they have a whole range of ales. I recall that I could buy Coopers Pale Ae and Sparkling Ale in Morrisons about 15-20yrs ago but sadly no more.
I was able to come across 2 or 3 six packs that had been lingering in a store for some time, but I was hesitant because they were past best by date, though not too awfully much. My experience is that dark beers in dark bottles can usually hold up better than other beers. So glad I bought a pack. Loved it! I also found it oddly refreshing for a dark beer. There were 2 sixes left in the store which had been there for months, but when I went back, only one remained. Never seen it since.
You finally reviewed a good aussie beer. Nice one. Coopers have been around for decades and essentially predated any craft beer revolution. I think this stout is their best beer. In fact I finished my night with one last night. Hopefully you get the chance to review some of the better craft breweries from Australia soon. Cheers
You should try and get a hold of some Cascade Export Stout, as far as I know you can only buy it in Tasmania, but I think it's the best Australian macro-brewery stout out there before you start getting into craft stuff.
I get this regularly when I'm wanting an affordable stout. It's not bad I can drink it whenever. There are other better stouts here in Australia very much so. But this is just very affordable and very readily available for me so.
Coopers stout is a solid stout , but’s it’s got nothing on Southwark old stout is absolutely fantastic I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it
Yeah mate Southwark is around 7.5% abv. I’ve actually been drinking the coopers lately as it’s a bit cheaper at my local and it’s has grown on me a fair bit.
Nods. I love a longneck of Cooper's stout on a cold night in. It's our local beer down here in Adelaide so it is from a cooler clime. My papa used to drink Southwark stout ( memory unlocked!) and it's not too foul.

I also drank it today. I'm from india and i loved it. It made me really happy. Very nice taste and feel
Porterhouse stout is available on tap in Dunphys
Nice review. Can you drink this straight from the bottle if you don't have a glass handy or is that the incorrect way to drink?
Thanks
From the bottle is fine.

I don't know when they started doing it, but here in Australia Coopers bottles carry a BEST AFTER date

I'm Australian too and this is also one of my favs by Coopers.
I also like their pale ale. They're a good brewery. The general trend is that they pack a lot of flavor into their beers.

Also I find like Simon said it is refreshing, it really isn't a heavy stout. It's a easy drinker.
@@Brandon-bh7pj it's the best one I've found, and I've tried stoats that cost 35 bucks a can.
I love this review Simon and I just wanna say I love what you do and your channel.
Try Sheaf stout from Carlton united brewery in Australia , its the best stout in Oz I reckon
I reckon sheaf is best too
Drinking one right now. Great review. 🍻

Yup .I just grabbed me self a coopers yellow. Coopers stout is not beer its rocket fuel.
I don't mind 1 or 2 but damn I find it very heavy
the most family owned beers

In terms of Australian Craft Beer Coopers is rubbish except for their Celebration Ales and their Vintage Release.
