For everyone wondering in 3.4, I finally found out instead of the Transfer Attribute node, we now use the Sample Nearest Surface node in this case, plugging it in exactly the same way he plugs in Transfer Attribute here.
And thank you CGMatter for this and all your other tutorials; I needed to know this technique for alot of prospective projects!😁

Very awesome stuff! I am working on a shell generator..
Where full models of shells are randomly missing chunks, with pours etc.
With random noise values on each shell.
    Thank you for this

Brilliant, I was always confused by the transfer attribute node. This really showed it nicely.
Although it's been changed in 3.4 it still works fine with the new nodes.

Amazing tutorial! One question though: is there a way to "apply" the node group in order to create a mesh that can be used for sculpting? Every time I try it says I should convert the curve to mesh, but adding that node on the end does not work at all...

Hey, I'm at 9:25 on Blender 4.1 and things have been going okay so far, but when I reach the part with turning the curve into a mesh into a volume, I only get sporatic points of the shell centered around the center. I have found a fix for this, and it's toggling "Fill Caps" in Curve to Mesh. However, this gets rid of the hollow inside the snail shell.
