    This saved me from tossing some raw alpaca in the bin! I ordered some fine toothed hand cards and am ready to make the fiber all fluffy and perfect for spinning!

    I love the idea of leaving "treasures" inside of the yarn ball for the person who plies it to find.

    Loved this tutorial. Thank you. I love how they hid treasures in the wound ball for the women who were plying

    I enjoyed watching you spin from the card-except for the Russian combs, it is the first time that I have seen this done. I also enjoyed your story of the spinning shepherdess wrapping the wool from their full spindle around stones and other found objects and bringing these hidden memories of the countryside back to the old women in the village who ply the wool from the balls and discover these offerings. ( By the way, you have a lovely accent!)

    Lovely thank you I am spinning black Suri while I watch this, and just last week I found a green plastic glow in the dark Jack that was one of my kids from years ago inside a ball of yarn so glad I am not alone in using what is at hand to start winding a ball lol : )

    I just learned today that I can get a fleece next Saturday for free. I will clean and process it all by myself. I've never done this before and I'm jumping in "cold turkey." Can you advise me? I plan on looking at some videos to learn as much as I can. I don't know what supplies or equipment will be needed. It is mixed breed; the owner just purchases sheep without knowing what breed and they reproduce on their own. I will purchase an e-spinner later.

      Mary Hutson knitting the stash has a great tutorial on how to wash fleece ! Then you have to decide if you want to card or comb and then you can start spinning ! It is a lot of hard work but I loved every part of it ! Have fun I can remember buyi g my first fleece I was so exited !!! Good luck xxxx Jolanda

    Fluff? Is that the technical term for fiber? Because after six years in college getting my fiber arts degree and my fiber science degree, they never told me that.

    What happens if the yarn breaks while spinning??

    • @Myknittingpodcast
      @Myknittingpodcast  2 года назад +1

      You pull back the broken yarn a bit and hold the fiber close to the yarn it will grab the yarn while spinning and there is an invisible join
