The left side is me when i try my hardest
Me too...
lmao
the left side is what my face looks like when i mess up
James Arthur FR The left side is my face
The Daring Doodler 😂
I think we can all agree though, having a high quality eye will automatically make any drawing look more realistic
Am Yeah so your right, because the human eyes always looking for a face and the eyes are the most important thing in our face... There is a study... But idk remember where I read or hear it... So.. OK... I'm just weird... So bye have a nice day
Fire Lie did I just finally meet someone like me
Yes
The non realistic side looks like it staring into my soul o.o
Nice video btw
Thanks for watching!!!! :)
you should do a Do and Don't on how one should hold a pencil correctly. Cause you obviously Don't.
its common sense on how to hold a pencil. you can hold it however as long as it gets the job done
DaiBae RBLX A professional artist who understands technique would tell you that the way one holds a pencil changes the dynamic of your line work and affects the way you lay out a drawing efficiently. So no, it's not common sense. If you learn to hold a pencil correctly when drawing you would be surprised at the difference it makes. It's like a samurai who was raised to hold his sword wrong. He may be skilled at fighting, but his techniques are handicapped by the way his hands maneuver the blade. Imagine if he held his sword correctly.
actually, a person can figure out really easily how to hold a pencil by the way they want to draw a line. there's no dos and donts when it comes to holding a pencil, babe. it depends on what technique you want to do, because the way you hold a pencil is preference.
More like "Before and After surgery"
DimaSTR haahahahahhahaha XD that is soo funny
DimaSTR But the real question is, what really was after surgery...
KimiLy that’s what i was going to say
XD🤣
😂 😂
1:56 "And some pretty crazy lips"
*Draws the exact same lips as in the right side*
Magalí Fernández lmao thats exactly what I thought😂
Magalí Fernández ikr LMAO
Nitya Soni wow! You truly are incredible!!!!
Magalí Fernández so true😂😂she messed u0
Mehlany not really
the 'donts' side still looks better than anything I've ever drawn
Oof ;-;
when people say it's hard to proportion things and I'm like HAVE YOU TRIED WITH OCD IT'S IMPOSSIBLE
Yes or No? When people throw that term around...
Yes or No? FAM I KNOW THAT FEEL ITS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE
I feel you, and I draw people/faces a lot
MakIsOdd yeah but like I've been professionally diagnosed with OCD and honestly not getting the proportions right makes me feel the need to redraw the same things over and over and it's horrible
I don't think it's as bad with digital art bc it's a lot easier to undo stuff but with my pencil drawings there's a lot of lines that I repeatedly tried to erase and just kinda stayed there and it pisses me off :T
I get the whole thing about how OCD has become almost a "joke" mental illness, which sucks ass and *is* offensive, but just because someone claims to have it without going into specifics doesn't mean that they aren't diagnosed and are trying to belittle it… (sorry for the rant but I get touchy about that kind of stuff)
I don't have ocd, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to myself and I hate it!
Omg you blend with your finger I'm not the only one yas 😭
XoPie46
Who doesn't?
Cameron Leduc ppl who own blending stumps...
i used to blend with my finger before because im too broke to afford a blending stump..
using your finger to blend gets everywhere
Jayy Hunter you should try using a q-tip they work just as well as blending stumps just a little bit awkward to hold, if you don't have a q-tip use pinched/rolled up paper, these are better so you don't get the oils on your fingers on your drawing and end up with something to smudged
Ikr
If the finished product looks amazing does it really matter what she did to achieve it? So what she used her finger to smudge, it still turned out amazing!
It's not even just that, though, you can tell she doesn't have much knowledge on form and lighting which will really hurt both her and the viewers attempting to learn from her in the future. Even now.
yeah and in a week that drawing is gonna be yellow from all the oils from her skin... wont look so amazing then. DONT SMUDGE WITH YR FINGERS
I use my fingers to smudge sometimes and my drawings haven't turned yellow, so...
Gabriela L who cares lenya dena does all the time.
Cecilie Jensen same some people have overly oiled hands. I don't.
* After watching the video *
"Well that looked easy, I'll go try to draw some!" ^-^
* Fails miserably *
"I'm never drawing again!" T.T
* Still goes to draw, just do fail again *
Practice makes perfect!
Talent < Work
Riiny Sann I'm with you on that
Yak 3nu Literally me after every art tutorial 😂✍
The life of an amateur artist (me)
Why is she using her fingers , my art teacher a aid not to do that cuz your fingers has oils on them no matter how clean they are and it can mess up everything 😂😂😂😂 (not everything )
am i the only one who blew eraser debris?
John Puruntong I do to
John Puruntong lol
John Puruntong I did too
John Puruntong I always wipe it
I do it
my father did
and by god my kids will do it
what??? how is the left the wrong side I look like that!
You helped a lot the other youtubers r really professional but your more cool and chill and that for some reason makes me listen more and u make jokes and stuff and next thing I know I'm a artist thank you
Congrats!!!
to really get the threedimentional structure of an object, you should start out to not smudge its shadows but crosshatch. this way you will improve your ability to move perspectives :) keep drawing!
Thanks for the feedback!
You know you're a makeup addict when you think she's contouring at 2:07
lol I so was!
Well, she is :P
SuperRaeDizzle I think that there isn't any dos or don'ts in art honestly
YumiChiba The do's and don'ts are for realistic drawing.😁
She is, contouring isn't just for makeup..
Could you do a video on drawing male lips? I have trouble with them. D:
***** actually they aren't. It's kinda tricky drawing them lol.
They're the same. For either gender you can do whatever you want
Mackenzie Jutz hmmm no male lips do look different.
***** and yeh I mean I have no problem with androgynous characters, but when I draw a character that's supposed to look male, I wanna get the lips right. lols. XD
same
Thank you so much!! This video helped a lot 😄😄
Yay! Glad to hear!!
looks like the biggest thing to do is to take your time to get everything right. I noticed on the don't side you seemed to rush it more or work on it less. I guess putting your time into a drawing can really make a BIG difference. and the contour thing, literally blew my mind. I have been struggling when it comes to knowing how to shade and highlight the face and that is going to help so much, thank you :)
I've been getting feedback about taking more time on the "don'ts" side. And I will do so in the future! Thanks for watching!! :)
Your videos were so helpful to me when I first started doing realistic drawings! Thank you so much. I'm 14 and I've progressed a lot over the past few months
For the shading it's best to think about where the light scourge is as well.
I like how your videos use real world materials, such as a mechanical pencil, and not SUPER DELUXE 10/10 LOAN TYPE OF MONEY MADE OF DINOSAUR BONE AND 5,000 YEAR OLD GRAPHITE THAT HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GOLDEN VAT OF CAVIAR OF THE GODS!!! (With three exclamation marks)
I hate being left-handed. All the charcoal just smudges on the paper, plus my hands are always sweaty. I place paper under my hand but it doesn't do the trick. :(
It's the same for most right handed people as well. I have to be very careful not to smudge too.
Dawn Bringer you can use an old glove cut you drawing finger in the glove and the pinky uncut that should help
Dawn Bringer I'm right handed and I also smudge
XoPie46 Believe me; it's worse for left handed people
A_Goose why the heck would it be worse for lefties?
😍😍😍 nice video, ☺️ every artist has their way on making art
Awesome video! I've always wondered about the connection between art and makeup contouring since its so intensely cool these days
Great tutorial Rae, very well explained and beautifully shown! You have earned yourself a subscriber.
You sound so much like Shannon!! does anyone else think so?
This was such a great idea to show the Do's and Dont's because it's easy to watch someone draw something really good but if you don't know the common mistakes you might make, you won't know how to avoid them. So smart. Thanks for the tutorial. I'm definitely coming back to your channel when I practice drawing
Well done you you have an amazing talent. Portraits are my favourite kind of art that is sadly not so popular due to photography. I love going to the national gallery to see the amazing works of portrait art they have in there
im.deffinately left side when it comes to drawing
Is it just me that doesn't like blending pencil? I only ever really use blending stumps for oil pastels, i feel you can get way better shaping without blending pencil bc of directional lines an shit lol
It depends. I prefer the look of the more sketchy style, with visible pencil strokes, but for realistic things, you want to blend it( for most textures, there’s a couple of exceptions)
Oh wow! I have improved completely! Your an amazing artist and thank you VERY VERY MUCH!
so happy to see more left handed artists! thanks for sharing
Cubism
lmao thats what i was thinking m8
Who else thinks the good side looks a bit like Hayden Panettiere?
RainbowUnicornKatie X
I think it kinda looks like Daenerys
RainbowUnicornKatie X nah Emily blunt !
I thought it looked kinda like Nick Cage.
I thought it was adele
I really dislike the form of the lips...its looks.. sort of... i dont even know how to explain it
Its just
Off
I loved how quick you got comfortable in your videos
also very helpful! :)
Just started watching the video and already I love the fact that you're left handed like me !! YAY FOR LEFTIES !!!
omg you helped me so much!! tysm
Yay! Glad to hear my video was useful!! :3

@@SuperRaedizzle Excuse me Rae, I'm a big fan love your videoes please do more of these tutorials please!
So the charcoal pencil helps to get that darker depth? I'm always afraid to use something that dark. I want to get more bold though. I can create something a few steps below what you have on the right, but I want to get to what you did here. Sounds like you majored as an art student or a very well self-taught artist?
You can use a charcoal pencil and practice with a more simpler drawing and try shading with the charcoal pencil to see how you like it? :) I think it ps always nice to try and experiment with new things, especially in art. Trying new art styles is always hard and challenging for me, but it's great when you've mastered or learned a lot with that art style! So I suppose trying new art materials would be sort of the same thing.
Plus, you got nothing to lose, so you might as well just try it, you never know, it might be a crucial thing in all your future drawings that you make!
littleblondemop I used to use a black colored pencil afterwards. Usually not quite as dark.
You can experiment with softer leads (b6/b8 get pretty dark) before going to charcoal.
you're such an amazing artists! this was really helpful thank you
OML this super helped me I'm glad I watched this because I drawled along with you. This was my first time drawing realistic and it looks so cool irl you really helped me thanks
There are only two types of people.
I'm none of them 😂 show me how to draw a cat!
And my drawings still manage to turn out to look like a thumb
The right side had such a realistic expression. I love your art so much
I'm drawing on all my work folders. I'm not stopping till I get it perfect lol. Awesome Job!
Is that Bella Hadid on the right?
whoa that's the person I referenced!!!! amazing!
Qingqing Zhao '
Qingqing Zhao I thought that .The references pointed to it .😬😀😅😉😇😭
Also try searching for Maureen Wroblewitz. She's was the first person I thought after seeing the thumbnail. hehe
Qingqing Zhao whoa, I thought it was Adele lol
her DON'T side is my drawing's
her DO'S side is how I think my drawing's look
Madison Xoxo05 yup
This is so useful. I already knew some of the things from my own experience, but there were so many things I learned.
BrushedPencil |-/
Thankyou for making this video I was trying to transition from a semi realism animeish style to full on realistic and this video really helped I subscribed and liked and turned on notifications!!!!!
left side is me im laughing
I suck with the eyelashes and the shadows on the lips, the details of the eyebrows, but everything else is fine.
You're so amazing! I enjoy watching you watch! Please post up more drawing do's and don't do. ☺️
Thank you for watching! Will do! :)
I love this. Great commentary as well! I need to get that charcoal pen.
You're so amazing, thanks so much, your Videos helped me a lot to improve my 'drawing skills' ❤
Thank you so so much for your awesome support!
When the drawing on the left is better than your drawing...
Are you actually stupid, no seriously
me at realistic stuff
I think they were talking about themselves ??
Mo
The don't/do side put together actually looks really cool.
Great video! Even though I'm drawing for years now there were still good advices that I could use to improve my drawing skills. Thank you! :D
Awesome!! Thanks for watching! I'm glad you liked it!
how can I if I already fail doing a straight line
JigglyPop Corn ruler my friend!
THE RIGHT SIDE LOOKS LIKE PEARL FROM RU PAUL'S DRAG RACE OMG
omg dying
Gianna Wild yesss! I was going to say that!
Thank you! I'll make sure i use these tips whenever i have to draw a portrait for school!
yay! another left-handed artist!!!
What pencils did you use for shadowing OwO
*basic shadowing
start off with a basic mechanical pencil and move up to a heavy charcoal :)
Thnx~ i already got the charcoal now til go get a mechanical pencil :)
Dana Sterritt I already have a pencil set (not basic its a LOT of pencils...) and it is what she is using so it is working also who cares what its meant for just along as it Works X3
mechanical pencils will not work for you. If they're are not meant for drawing, then don't use them for drawing. If you want to improve your art, first at least use the right tools and get a set of pencils.
I have a question= Every time I draw I start by drawing the face shape but then when I draw the eyes and everything else its out of proportion. So if I start by drawing the eyes and everything first, when I try to draw the face shape, I cant get it right. Plz help I want to surprise my BFF with a pic of all of her friends but I cant get it rite
there's always portrait tracing to consider. you trace the lines where the shadows are the deepest and work with the blender/tortillion stick - plus tracing photographs of faces will attribute to your "muscle memory" and subconsciously will help you with this as time goes on
Thank you Tommy and Makls both your tips helped a lot
Thanks for sharing this. I've been trying draw people from actors to singers more. It can be tricky to do the same thing on each side. I like how you use charcoal,e and blend in the shades. What kind of colors do you use to color the eyes and other? I tried crayons today and it blend the pencil markings more. I usually use color pencils.
I've really enjoyed the videos i've just seen from you!! you understand a lot about art and the way you compare differences help me out a lot. thank yoou!!!
Wow that's an amazing amazing compliment! my degree is paying off! Thank you so much for watching!
I've struggled with the shading because my hand always smudges and eventually stains the drawing . I might have to wear a glove ....the leftie struggle is too much.
use a small scrap of really good smooth paper between the edge of your palm and the surface of the drawing.
I've tried using the paper to protect my paper from getting stained but I forget sometimes that I'm using it for protection and instead use it for blending . Regardless, I appreciate the reminder !
As for the second comment: Thanks for letting me know about never blending with fingers . That'll save me a lot of time and paper.
the left side look like my aunt
Music 4Fun that's funny
Fantastic. Great tips. I was making just about every mistake you mentioned. I got it now. Thanks.
Wow! Great job! It looks so good!
Thank you so much for the compliment!!
Your drawing is amazing
Thank you!!
the left is me fml
This vid was a huge help for me a starter thanks for the advice and things that this vid tells love the art work
I'm teaching myself to be as great as you and all of the other artists out there! I've succeeded many times with this....and thank you for the entertainment!
the beginning is more like me vs every one else in the school :I I'm the right side
SparkleSpeedy don't flatter yourself
? oh!! i meant left.
I'm sorry! D:
SparkleSpeedy lol its fine
SparkleSpeedy
I'm the left side : never gonna be good
well, the left side didn't have as much effort as the right and you need to put equal effort into both sides of the drawing if you wanna do a comparison. you lightly sketched on the right side, but for the left side, you need to be putting more pressure on the pencil tip while drawing.
are you serious? please tell me you're not serious..
The left side is the side of things being done wrong, that's why she did that.
Even if you didn't know anatomy, you would still take your time though? Like. Back in 2014 the people I drew looked like the left side but I still put a lot of effort and time into them
I've just gotten back into drawing and these videos are a great help. Thanks
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching!
This is kind of tutorial I've been looking for. Thank you!
Thank you
thanks for watching!
thanks for the tips. I suggest getting a new mic but for the drawing, it's amazing
Got a new mic today! Thank you!!
okay...but i suggest making a video explaining how to make two eyes symmetrical cause i am having the most upmost STRUGGLE
Use a mirror and some rulers.
its hard
thank you, you really helped me learn some new things about how to do realism and what I'm doing wrong in my drawing
the little blending tools (dunno how to spell it) I got because you suggested them. I'm in love with them ❤❤❤💕
try q-tips and lotion free kleenex also
I can draw realistically but sometimes I wish I could draw like the don't side because it looks good if you're aiming for abstract
Lauren Hulton yea exactly
Lauren Hulton abstract to me is hard.
Lauren Hulton you cud try drawing with your left hand (if u are right handed)
use your foot to draw lmao
Oh lord the finger blending is killing me. Don't get finger oils on your art kids!
Charlotte Steinman okie ty I is child
Charlotte Steinman omg me too I was freaking out because my art teacher said the same😂
Lulu Lin oils in your fingers mess it up I heard
Charlotte Steinman My art teacher told me that! It's because it'll turn yellow, right?
Charlotte Steinman she went to art school for 4+ years. And how long have you been going to art school?
ALL your videos are so helpful!!!! i improved my art 600 times :)
Wow the make up shart is such a great trick! thank you so much! its so hard to figure out where to draw those highlight and shadows.
I'm in artistic school and one of the most important things about shadows is NEVER use your finger
I would say that is certainly an instructor specific thing
Ester Sarkisova Restrictions in an art class? How artistic.
I wouldn't say never use your fingers on graphite. It's fine sometimes, but the oil from your fingers will leave a mark lol. I think paper towels/tissues or tortillions/stumps are better, tbh.
Notmatt haha I know it's weird but art have rules too sometimes teachers don't even exept that you have your own style just because it's not how their rules are.
I draw in manga style how did I get here?
Levi The Weird You chose to click on the video. That's how you got here.
JT84_456 lol
same XD
Farting Fluffy Unicorn lol yr username
Levi The Wierd PHANDOM
I tried and did really well than I expected
Thank you for this awesome video!
6:35 that’s literally everyone’s drawings in my art classes
Are you using a reference? The right nose is way too long
um, havent you heard of diversity? People with long noses exist to you know? But still her drawing looks proportional to me.
You mean like Pinocchio ? But then his nose extends outwards not down like in this piece.
It doesnt look proportional to me, one look and I can see its off
I think you are looking at the left side deary
Haha, no. Have a look at this photo. Measure Angelina Jolie's left eye from medial to lateral canthus. Then use it as a reference from the bottom of Angelina's left eye and you will see that it will come to just about the tip of the nose.
In your art work, measuring the left eye from medial to lateral canthus and using it as a yard stick from the bottom of the left eye. Your nose stretches down even further hence its proportion is out of wack. If you are going to teach portraiture online, at least do a good job before you embarrass yourself when someone calls you out on it
blogs-images.forbes.com/anthonydemarco/files/2015/12/citrine-necklace-18x-24-1200x1600.jpg
Well then she obviously wasn't drawing Angelina Jolie was she?
I'm sorry but your "dos" part is literally the don'ts
Since when are u an expert?
FireBow how can you judge my status without even knowing my work?
Well don't be so negitive
this isn't called negativity this is called mentoring I've been there so I'm telling that she is doing it wrong so that she can learn and fix it by watching actual pro tutorials and taking references
+Ceren Barut I think you and I have a very different perspective of what negetivity is
Another great video. Again echoing my thoughts I was wondering last weekend if it was easier for women to do portrait because of experience with make up! A few days later you show us a make up chart i never new such a thing existed.
WELL DONE more original ideas and approach. Glad to say I am oh so/too slowly going from left to right.
More please. BIG THANKS .
Wow what an awesome comment!! Thank you so much for watching! :) thanks for the feedback as well! glad my tips could help.
Hallelujah to you for telling me about the contour chart. I never thought to use that xD Thanks so much for your video =D
Ill stick to anime ._.
ECHO ??? Same dude same 😂
Y are you using your finger to blend you should never do that, over time you're drawing turns yellow
Because of the oils on your fingers
Suzzy123x_109 Torres that has never happened to my drawings. I didn't even know that was a thing
Suzzy123x_109 Torres yeah that has never happened to my works, i have had some for like 9 years and theyre fine
no it doesnt, the yellow on your skin is pigmentation, not oils
Coffee Cup no my art teacher told me that it's the oil search it up
Love your videos❤️ you're a very good drawer
Great tutorial.
When someone gives you a photo to draw a portrait of--- do you enlarge the photo, then trace it ?
Or do you use a grid method like RelationPix from England ?
Or you draw it from memory only ?
Just wondering how you get your proportions so exact ?
both sídes are wrong girl
😭😭😭 why can't I be left handed
All left handed are talented at drawing
i am left handed and my pictures are bad :( :D
Im right handed and I do this stuff
exactly, i am right handed also, but when it comes to this video, its drawing shaming, shes pretty much telling kids to get it together when watching this and erase their drawings cause' they hate it, but really, im right handed and i cant do as good as the right but i do good, i used to be proud of my drawings (they looked like the left side) and this video made me feel bad about my old drawings.
Well, if everyone is going to be against me, their wrong. i am saying the truth.
not true
i love it ! super rae dazzle
OMG i used to use a make up contour chart to help me too!!! It really does help with where to shade
