To prevent the rover from unlocking: Disable "used for parking" on the mag plate. Same for a connector.

I have some QoL suggestions for the MCV:
    - Slanted half blocks or catwalk railings around the drill for safety. Otherwise OSHA might get all up in your business. 😂😂
    - Belly camera and lighting above the drill opening for lining up the drill with ore deposits.
    - Ore Sorter for the drill. You're probably going to accidentally mine tons of stone. Might be nice to have a button to activate a sorter that automatically purges excess stone.
    - Headlights for night driving.
    - Backup camera and light on the rear for backing up out of tight quarters.
    - Depending on how much reversing you think you might do, it could be worth while to have your front and rear most wheels set to steer and the middle two wheels set to non-steering. This should make driving with the backup camera significantly easier.
    - Backup alarm. Like how real trucks always beep when in reverse gear. I bet OSHA requires this. 😂
    - Strategically placed spotlights, possibly on a hinge and rotor, to illuminate sites of interest.
    - Connector or cargo access point on the belly for easy material stowage/retrieval when working on the ground.
    - Antenna in case you forget where you parked.
    - Point defense pew pews. To chase off pesky OSHA inspectors 🤣 and rover jackers.
    - Horn. You gotta have a big horn for a rover that size. It's an industry rule. And come on. It's fun too.
    Crazy suggestions:
    - A self-righting system incase you get tipped over or a wheel gets stuck in some weird pit. Put a wheel on the end of the arm with friction set to zero to prevent the arm from sticking.
    - Interior defense pew pews in the cab. Land pirates might try to commit grand theft MCV.

The water recycler will endlessly make water as long as it has access to ice. I tend to not use it, and instead just produce water from the food resequencer, as you can control how much it produces.
Also a small mod suggestion: gravel sifter, turns gravel into traces amounts of all materials. I personally don't think its too cheesy as you need a ton of gravel to make any meaningful amounts of ingots such as platinum or uranium, but otherwise you're gonna end up with containers full of gravel.

36:22 Leave the rover as it is and NEVER use "P" for Park. Instead open G while in cockpit of the big rover, select the cockpit and add the "Handbrake On/Off" shortcut assigned to a key on hot bar. I always use Handbrake on hot bar option in my game plays, always stick it on number 1 and everything else from number 2 etc... That way you will never have issue with disconnecting all the grids which is connected.
Other method (if you preferred to use the P key) is to find the setting for the specific Mag Plate or connector or any connection block and disable the option "Use for Parking" and that's it.
Personally, I prefer the hotbar option, for me it is much faster to use and I don't have to set all my connectors and think if I am set it or not or whatever, this way just press 1 for handbrake ;)
Keep up great channel and content :D

    Swing, swing, swing with me
Raise your pick and raise your voice!
    Sing, sing, sing with me
Down and down into the deep
Who knows what we'll find beneath?
    Diamonds, rubies, gold and more
    Hidden in the mountain store
Born underground, suckled from a teat of stone
Raised in the dark, the safety of our mountain home
Skin made of iron, steel in our bones
To dig and dig makes us free
Come on brothers sing with me!
    I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole
    I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy diggy hole, digging a hole
The sunlight will not reach this low
    Deep, deep in the mine
Never seen the blue moon glow
    Dwarves won't fly so high
Fill a glass and down some mead!
Stuff your bellies at the feast!
    Stumble home and fall asleep
    Dreaming in our mountain keep
Born underground, grown inside a rocky womb
The Earth is our cradle, the mountain shall become our tomb
Face us on the battlefield, you will meet your doom
We do not fear what lies beneath
We can never dig too deep
    I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy diggy hole, diggy diggy hole

I got a few ideas for the rovers, hopefully this can give you some ideas.
Big Boi: Since you liked my suggestion of a Scarab beetle, you can always build the solar panels surrounding the back half of the rover, and build a super structure around it that splits open like wings opening while you are drilling, keeping with the 'theme'. Or have the solar panels push upward from the middle of the rover, and split open like a set of wings opening. Either way, it'll help protect the panels from harm while you are driving. But it's so large, it's gonna make terrain a PAIN to get through, especially major hilly or mountainous areas, with a big threat of bottoming out on intensely variable peaks and valleys, leading to -
Little Man: I think this would be a fantastic little scouting vehicle, but if you have some kind of station/enemy spawns, it would be a *excellent* opportunity to make some kind of sniper vehicle too, able to knock out turrets so you can scrap things. Having some kind of offset cockpit with a large gun over it's "shoulder" would be freaking awesome to see you roll around in.
As for docking space, why not use the rising and lowering of the Big Boi to your advantage? Put a connector on the back of it so that you can pull Little Man Parallel to it's back bumper, lower Big Boi until a connector links to the top of it, raise Big Boi up, and have the connector attached to some kind of rotor so that you can simply twist the whole thing sideways, parallel to the ground. It'll be up and out of the way while you drive.

To eat the steak or other food, right click it in your inventory like you would a medipak. If you want to automatically eat the food in your inventory until your food bar is full, make a passenger seat or desk, and include Noms in the name of the seat. When you sit in it, you'll auto eat and drink until full or use up your supplies.
Also, you can go into the mag plate controls, and disable "use for parking" to prevent unlocking the little rover. If you add a connector instead, you will want to make sure both the connector on the small rover and on the large rover likewise have "use for parking" disabled. Mag plates, landing gear, and connectors all have "use for parking" enabled by default.

2:23 yes there is, it's part of one of the decorative dlcs, it the round vent block, there is half block size and full block size.
(it's in the same group of blocks as the normal vent, keen really needs to re-think the block selection panel)
11:00 be very very careful about recharge on/off, if you leave it on and not connected to any power grid, the recharge is going to depower the grid, and despawn if you get too far from it. Learned that first hand, lost about 60 drills from a mining arm that broke
36:20 magnetic plate on the bottom or front that you lock then needed (lock the body, not the wheels, or it's going to clang)

  • @PiroteusGaming
    @PiroteusGaming 6 месяцев назад +2

As far as I know, you can select what park break dose and what not. just remove grid magplates. Or use event controler for parking and do other things. Also connector would still be better magplate with compressed wheels can CLAN out. Small rover small conevtor can connect to a large connector in the flore with a glas Plate or Grill in between. even a catwalk works. For stone, Filter, whitelist stone connector on auto eject. If you whan to go fancy, largegrid hinge, filter, smlagrid plate and then nine small connectors to drop small amounts of stone in little pebels like a Bond getaway gadged.

Hey bud, little tip, separate the water processor from the rest of the grid, it will just keep going through any ice it can. Having a small cargo with the water processor in its own supply chain is what you want, yes it means a small amount of manual movement, but it means the ice you get can actually be used for power. Cause otherwise you will have way too much water and no hydrogen, LOL
I tend to put a conveyor sorter allowing only the water packets, organics and gravel to go through from the water processor to the rest of the grid, the cargo is there to store any ice you want to be made into water.
You are going to need to find the random signals from the base game to find the food ingredients. Crop grower for the veggies and you clone the meat as soon as possible. Always make sure you have 100 meat at any given time, yeah you only need 0.33 to be able to clone, but i like to store the stuff in different places so if something goes boom, i dont loose everything. LOL

    About the modules:
Power Efficiency: Just plain less energy requirement. never not worth it to put them down if not interested in the other ones.
Module-power usage in kW (assember as an example)
    0-560
    1-374
    2-250
    3-167
    4-112
Speed module: In the end acts as if you build another machine of that kind. It increases the power requirements just as much, but can be much cheaper than adding another big thing like a refinery. Also scales the other modules, e.g. a refinery with a speed module, two yiel modules and a power efficiency modules is as efficient and as fast as two refineries with two yield and a power efficiency module each.
Yield Module: only for the refinery, gain more stuff for the same input. 1 module ~20% more, 2 give 41% more, 3 give 168% and all 4 modules result in an extra 100%
Also, the refinery has 8 upgrade slots and the assembler has 8 upgrade slots as well, a module can cover 2 slots each. if you take a look at the conveyor ports on the long sides of an assembler, you can see that it has an upgrade slot as well. So if you build them standing upright, you can put modules on all 4 long sides.

If you ever need extra drilling depth, replacing the armored conveyors that go to the drilling pistons with an extended piston will offer an additional legth. Just set this piston in reverse of the other ones, as in contract to lower the drills, extend to raise.
On the weight there is little to do without redesigning the rover so it can fit more wheels. Adding more refineries and o2h2 gens would help to not idle/afk as much. Ice weights a ton, but unless you have the heavy h2 mod, hidrogen does not have weight, you just carry the (very explosive) tanks. Take note of power consumption though.
The alternative to a redesign is to add a trailer and conveyor it so it carries part of the load. Many item sorting scripts like Izzie's can 'balance' the loads trough containers. The problem of trailers in this scale, is that the 'truck' part must have enough torque to move the thing, because the wheels, thrusters etc, cannot be directly controlled from cockpits, and using overrides will cause explosions, crashes, and sacrifices to klang. Also note that all large grid wheels have the same max torque, independent of their size.... One would expect the larger ones to have more, but no, the advantage is clearance from the floor. But its not the end of the world if its not enough power, there is a subgrid control script that allows controling the wheels from cockpits. I do suggest setting speed limits on the trailer wheels though so the trailer does not push the truck, that will go bad.
Warning, it'll be very tempting to keep adding trailers and make a land train.
Warning 2: you will need a scout vehicle to plan how to traverse mountainous terrain, with trailers you will limit your turning radious.

Rovers are sensitive to weight distribution so you need extra tires where the weight is, as well as making sure all the weight is lower. Because if you don't then you'll tip sooner rather then later. Mabey a reflection onto the other side so you get another set of refineries and o2 ,then add some more cargo in the back, add some sorters to push all the weight to the back on a bunch of tires like tank tracks and go from there. Just passing thoughts kind of wanna make one in creative. got an interesting idea, The All Mighty Clang will be angry with me for this. but if it works I will die happy.

Leaving the simulation on overnight would be a great way to reduce weight (might want to turn off the hunger mod so you don't starve to death multiple times), but that's the easy way out. Real estate might be an issue later, so you could solve it early by adding more space and as many wheels as you can in the new space to help move the base up hills. It doesn't have to be fast, that's what the scout is for. That being said, it would probably be smart to move the survival kit and health station onto the main base to reduce weight on the scout, the scout should probably only need a small amount of storage, a few batteries and the ore detector. Power generation on the scout should be unnecessary if you can connect it to the scout to charge it.

Also, you could have put a hangar for your rover and possibly other vehicles for mobile base. You should put a solar panel roof and/or wind turbine to get more energy where you should put them 🤔 both letf and right sides front. Hope these are good suggestions for your rover base.

Tiny rover as a shuttlecraft-esque? Drive and dock with stations on the ground with some cargo space for selling things
Also I'm slightly disappointed you didn't call the second to do list: "Two do" ):

For silver and gold, you could have had pictures of John Silver (from Treasure Planet) and Goldfinger respectively. As for the picture of Silicon, I think you'd have been safer with a picture of a silicon wafer lol
Edit: I know it annoys you, but it is not uncommon for eight-wheeled vehicles to have all-wheel steering. This is especially true on military armored and utility vehicles, where maximum mobility and stability are paramount.
Edit 2: A decent way of "reducing" the weight of your rover is to spread it out more. More wheels, a longer frame (can be articulated if need be), and a wider wheelbase will do you a lot of good in this instance.

I am way behind so maybe it has been done already, but you could add a camera to the underside by the button so you can line up with your target before drilling

answering one of the last questions to comment section, you dont make the rover lighter, make wheels bigger (bigger suspension parts can have more power directed to them(bigger=better(just like americans think the world works)))

For you smaller vechile you could put drills on it for smaller excavations or bolder mineing. Or you could put some grinders on it and use it that way. I was thinking you could put some atmospheric thrusters on it for movement, but I'm not sure if that would be against the spirit of the challenge or not.
The "oop sorry" when you ran into the To Done list got me cracking up!

Having a platform for the small rover that you can lower and raise would be better than the crane.

might want to add a thruster in the back to push your self foreword, the heavier you get the harder its going to get to move up hills try one thruster at a time until you feal its moving a little easier, ALSO!!!!!! as for power place a landing gear with a few blocks on it a rotter extending out with more block that is the grid with the landing gear on the end of it place a turbine on it just one you can use that to give you power it will make your rover seam its a static grid. set it to manual lock so you wont jam it up. that way your not using all your ice at one time to run the engines while your not moving. my pc still in the shop so i cant make any video for a while, enjoying yours for the mean time.

In large grid, one O2H2 gen makes enough for one H2 Engine. I believe that a small hydrogen thruster also consumes the same amount of hydrogen as an engine, but I could very well be wrong on that.

Wheel setup for the large rover
    Friction=100%
    Power=100%
    Strength=15%
    Speed=150
    Front pair turn 25
    next pair back turn 20
    Height offset=max
Put a mag plate on the under side of the rover (do this with the little rover aswell), lower the height offset and the mag plate can attach, this would allow wind turbines to work and for the small rover would mean it wont disconnect when you press P, because for some reason you forgot the golden rule of SE, which as everyone knows is "DONT PRESS P", lol
    Good luck bud

Or gyro, the absolute hell out of the rover.

Found out your channel looking for content to watch when i can not play the game. Lol. Awesome. Enjoying since first episode of the series. Just a heads up for pistons. Kind of cheese. But since you arent lactose intolerant, there are a mod of 1x5 piston. It is a little higher and goes to 35 meters. Help a lot for not having dozens of pistons for one purpose. Cheers. Keep it coming.

you can turn off used for parking on the mag plate and any future connectors and gear and they wont lock/unlock when you hit p also large grid wheels dont have much power to them i recommend a thruster or 2 and could prob just do a small hydro thruster to help you up hills my 1.5k hours in se tells me wheels need a overhaul again have needed it for a while
