This video tutorial provides instructions on how to replace the side mirror adjustment motor assembly on a 2014 GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado. The mirror adjustment motor has a backplate that the mirror glass is attached to. The backplate was broken free from the side mirror adjustment motor assembly. This mirror repair saved me about $240 over replacing the entire side mirror assembly. A replacement GMC outside mirror assembly for this GMC Sierra costs $300 and the motor only costs around $60 shipped. When the side mirror breaks free from the mirror adjustment motor, it's possible to repair the mirror by replacing the motor as shown in this video. The side mirror repair process shown in this video should be the same or similar on many other vehicles including, Ford F150, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Acadia, Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and many others.

This would fit in a 2015 silverado as well correct?
So glad I found this video. Had the same issue but on the drivers side. You’re a saint for sharing!
Exactly what I also broke and perfect explanation, thanks!
This video was super helpful and actually saved me money. I didn't realize the bracket that attached to the mirror comes off so I only need the motor and now can return the mirror!
Thank you for posting this. I just had the exact same issue and your explanation was perfect!
Thanks for the help. Would not have been able to fix it myself without the video.
Ditto: needed this video to figure out motor replacement myself.
Watching this video in 2024 after a turkey used my mirror as a backboard at 55mph
Thank you for this! I had to do this yesterday and it was easy. Thanks you saved me alot
Thanks for this video. I broke exact same parts, including the arm of motor. I know this didn't happen to you, but I broke mine backing out of the garage.
Is the arm motor a separate part?
Thanks for this! only video I could find that fixed the mistake I made 👍
For the record. Getting the glass off is as easy as it might seem. Tilt it all the way down and use a thin panel tool to gently pry upward and it comes off with very little effort.
Thank you, the video helped me fix the mirror rather handily. Note: We won't discuss what happened with my mirror either :-)
Thank you also , this is the exact info I needed that save me a lot of money. My motor broke off at the same connection point. Appreciate this video.
Good job. 👏👏👏👍 Successful in a warm climate...not so much outside in the north. ‘Don’t ask how I’d know’..lol (plastics aren’t so ‘robust’ shall we say.) 🤙🤙
Glad I found this. Thanks
Thanks so much for the video and instructions it was very helpful 👍👍
Wow! I finally get to see your channel! It's kinda big 😳!
@@nogripes Thanks so much 🙏, we're trying to get better.
Thanks for sharing. I had the same issue on driver's side on a 2017 Sierra. I called the dealer to order part and they said I had to buy the entire assembly ($420). I found the motor online for $64. Good as new now.
When you put the mirror back on just use the control to tilt the mirror forward.
Thank you so much for this video!!
Man you just saved me from spending $300!!!
I replaced mirror and actuator on passenger side door of 2018 GMC Sierra using this video and worked perfect. 1 problem I had (created myself) was pulled the 1 wire out of the small terminal on mirror. So I had to redo a bigger terminal to fit. It worked fine. 8 months later the mirror would not move but the turn signal light blinked. I took mirror off and thought that wire I remodeled came apart, but didnt. I functioned the actuator motor and works in all directions. Put mirror back in place and turn signal function but mirror will not move. Is not binding up anyplace as I can move it manually and it moves freely. Help needed please.
The part arrived today, it was an easy intall. I tried gluing it first with plastic epoxy and it didn't work . Buy the motor it's worth it.
Great video! But how did you connect the back plate to the motor? My mirror&backplate popped off. I’ve removed the backplate from the mirror but can’t get it to connect to the motor.
So i replaced the motor it works great but now left is right and right is left do you know what could cause this other than that video helped alot just glad its working again thnx
Your truck is equipped with memory seats & mirrors so original actuator motor had 8 pin connection port. You bought wrong one with no memory, same port but only 4 pins. That's why left & right it's opposite plus mirror has no more memory for sure. Hope it helps
Big help thanks brudda
He’s Handsome and has his own RUclips Channel 💓
Can you buy just the back part where it moves up And down part??
Thank you Thank you... you are the man!! This is what I needed. appreciate you man. I Sub'd and wil be checking out your other videos!!
What about the issues of the mirror not folding in or out? The driver side on my sounds like it made a snapping sound and now the mirror is loose and moves inward with movement down the road or when I open/close the door
What did you do to get the mirror glass off in the beginning?
Bro I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out what mirror to order for that set up. Sombody stole mine this past week and I ordered a replacement but it doesn't snap on. Or do I just need the bracket for the back of it ?
How do you fix the electronic mechanism that folds your mirrors in and out? Both mirrors are stuck. I know the motor works because it folds part way. Do I need to disassemble the mirror to clean a track that is probably full of gunk?
You can Buy a complete Mirror from Rock Auto Parts or E-Bay cheaper as a new Motor
If it's regular. Good luck with power folding one with puddle light
I won't ask how it happened as long as you don't ask how my mirror mishap happened. It looks like you had the EXACT same mishap as I did, but on the opposite of the truck.
I recently had my mirror come off the motor and I snapped it back on and the mirror works if I use the adjuster switches but if I put the truck in reverse then it won’t tilt down. Any suggestions?
Did backplate come with the new motor?
Does these parts numbers fit 2006 chevy Silverado? I have blinker and defrost on mirror .
165..Amazon complete mirror just bought 1
If it's regular. Good luck with power folding one with puddle light!
565...it costs at dealer
Would be nice to show how to get to the mo.tor if the mirror is not broken off. This tutorial is useless unless you have same failure.
