Great Video Very Clear and to the point with good tips on how its "PROPERLY DONE" probably just saved me at least $700.00 ++ Thank You, God Bless you !
My mirrors quite working. I took the driver side apart and lubed the slides and fussed with it and it is the gear on the motor. I am going to try epoxying it, but I had this epiphany ...if I leave the gear out I can extend them by hand outside the truck. For as often as I tow, who cares? There's enough friction in the glides so they would stay put.
I saw this video and fixed it, but it only lasted for about a year. Is there another motor I can buy that has a metal piece instead of the plastic one? I tried to see the part number on the motor in the video but it was too difficult to read. Thanks
Put the Left / Right switch to center position. An orange light will illuminate under the mirror direction button. That means extend or retract mode. Use the mirror direction control to move the mirror out or in.
Cool, cool. I just bought my first Chevy yesterday. The mirrors move about 1/4" and I figured something was not right. So today I'm gonna clean the internals and lube the guide track.
If you can pull them off the truck and wash them out if you can I used the sprayer wand on my kitchen sink. My truck was a diesal farm truck if was full of black tar goop.
Hope someone could help me out. I looked in the manual and all it says is to push buttons on the door panel to move the mirrors in and out. My guess is I have to have the mirror selector in neutral and move the 4 way pad to extend the mirrors. Is this right? I ask because I hear no motor noise at all when I press any buttons in any way
Yes you're correct, the left/right side selector must be centered, and then pushing left on the 4 way pad I believe extends and right retracts. Up and down are not used. As for why it's not working, that could be a few things. Your truck may not be equipped with that function. If you have the mirrors, perhaps a previous owner installed them. One way to verify would be to check the RPO code sticker in the glove box. For my truck, it has a DPF code, which, from my own searching, means the truck is equipped. Side note, there may be some other code different from mine that may have still had the extending feature, so you'll have to do some looking around to double check. I don't think that's the case, but I could be wrong on that as I couldn't find too much info on it to begin with. If that checks out then my next guess would be potentially a faulty or incorrect switch is installed. There should be a dim orange light showing a mirror in the center of the 4 way pad when the left/right switch is centered. The orange light turns off when left or right is selected, indicating that "extending mode" is off and "mirror glass angle" is on. If that's not there, then there's a possibility the switch could be bad. After that, it's all just good ol' wire testing.
The three outer light in my mirror do not work and the remaining lights are dim. Where can I find the replacement mirror. I have the old style. Thank you
Burco sells replacement glass. 4001HS for the driver side, and 4002HS for the passenger side. You will need the old bezel with the signal lights still, but you can pull the broken glass off the mount and use a silicone adhesive, or two-side tape, to mount the new glass into the bezel.
@@SammyNineFingers youre an absolute legend! so is it just a stick on mirror or will the turn signal and heat still work? i live in cold climate in the winter so the heat would be a big bonus if i can keep it
The only way this is more helpful is if he comes to my house and does the fix. Everything in here was spot on, THANK YOU
Outstanding how is this the only video on these mirrors!? Many thanks.
This video should have way more likes than it does.
Thank You Kelli
Thank you! Just bought my truck and found I had these mirrors by accident and I love them! Great tips!
These really are great mirrors when working correctly!

How are the mirrors suppose to work via the switch . How do you make the mirrors move in and out.

Mine weren't working why I asked. They did nothing. Watched video and was able to fix them. Just dirt

I'm not aware of an aftermarket replacement mirror for these. You may have some success on some resale sites such as Ebay and Marketplace?
i need to replace the mirror glass for this model and cannot for the life of me find it available online. any advice?

I can’t take off the stupid mirror. I got the early model I push tab and push up but it’s not budging
I had the same problem. It's not the metal tab, but a part of the black plastic that needs to be pushed. Then the mirror can move upwards.
Watch the video real close at the start. It's not the metal clip, there is a plastic clip you flex and allows the mirror to slide up.
Where GM screwed up, was using this garbage motor, clutch and gear rack setup. Should have been mini linear actuators
No doubt could have been a different way to do this, but cost is a factor and this setup actually works quite well after doing this little fix
Great video. Thank you!
Thank You Valerie
