- Here are all the things we changed or added for this year on our Christmas tree farm. I'll cover what worked, what didn't, and what we'll need to change for future years on our Christmas tree lot.
See our last video about our tree lot updates here: • Big Changes, Years in ... Хобби
Great to hear things went well for you Phil. Definitely neat to hear and see your progress. I totally agree with you on keeping some key measures (financial) things private, every market is different and something’s just need to stay private. Awesome to see how you are trying different things and creating an experience for family’s. Great video all the way around. 👍🏻
Much appreciated
great video, thanks Phil. I'm a few years from selling my trees, and I'm going for 200-300 per year.
Great advice and video, I'm hoping I'm only 3-4 yrs out from selling trees myself. Keep up the videos I really enjoy watching your family succeed in your goals.
Thanks a lot. Best of luck with your trees
That's great this past season went well for you guys..😉👍
yeah pretty good overall. can't complain! Hope you're doing well
Something that works well to transport our choose and cuts is snow sleds (the plastic ones with deep sides and a pull rope). Your field looks like it’s a ways out there but having sleds to load trees in and pull back to your processing area (since they’re walking back anyway) may be all you need, at least for now. Once you start cutting a lot in the field a more advanced people & tree transportation system may be necessary.
Thanks for all the updates, Phil! 🙂
I've heard that too. We might have to pick up a couple.
Parking is easily one of our biggest issues we deal with, particularly during high traffic times. We generally have to dedicate two to three people just for parking. Additionally since we’re located off a road where people drive fast and we have an overflow across the street when using that lot we have additional folks directing traffic, attempting to slow through traffic, etc. it can get stressful!
I do wish we had more room to expand parking of the on-site lot but the farm is land locked by neighbors.
The next step for me is I have a few trees to clear within my existing lot then I can lay it out different. Beyond that I have about another acre between my gate and the main road I can clear for additional parking in future years.
@@WoodsTreeFarm sure would be nice to have the space when needed! 👍
Holy smokes on the smores sells, that’s awesome! Definitely wouldn’t have guessed that high of a number.🙂
We added cinnamon rolls mid-way through the season and they were a great hit but I never handle the numbers side of things so I cannot comment on what that amount equated to.
it has surprised us too! We do fresh popcorn too but its not nearly as popular as smores.
@@WoodsTreeFarm we are limited on space in regards to just how much can be offered snack-wise. The small converted trailer is multi-use as one source to pay for trees/stands but it’s also where you can purchase cider, coffee, and cocoa. We also sell cinnamon rolls and popcorn.. perhaps a couple other snacks as well but that’s about it. The trailer is also a place for the tree guys to hang out for a few minutes and escape the crowd. Not much room to offer much else.
Then again, on opening weekend and the weekend after we have food trucks out, one thing else the farm can offer but not have to a bother with preparing, storing, etc
This is a long shot... but Anyone ever order Canaan or Fraiser fir transplants from Wheeler's Laura's Lane Nursery in Wisonson? If so, are u happy with em??
I haven't ordered from there. You might do better getting feedback in the Great Lakes Christmas Tree Growers group on Facebook
Great idea, thank you
Nice video Phil, no need to share everything about the business
Do u sell ur coffee on ur website?
Not at the moment, but it easily could be. I'll work on that. We've done some local pickup/delivery orders online before but never shipped it.

Change will be your winner as it looks like you had this past season. Great job. You will get the retrieval of the field trees in due time. Yes I also believe the high price of food and other necessities was an issue this year. Don't get discouraged sounds like you had a good year despite the economy. Sorry did I miss the firewood sales? Try not to over think things or assumptions. There are many variables in everything. 🎄🪵🌸🌼
Thanks Dan - yes, we'll certainly continue to evolve. Firewood bundles were available for sale but weren't high enough on the list of sales to make the video, but we did 40+ bundles for ~$290 in sales.
