The ultimate mix of heavy metal, punk, rock and roll and black Norwegian metal
This genre of music is truely has global potential. I am a Norwegian and I have no idea what that guy is screaming about, but damn it sounds good anyway!
I work as a bartender just outside of Yosemite National Park and during the
summer season we serve a mostly international clintele. One night we had
a group of Norwegian students in the bar drinking beer and playing some good
metal on our jukebox. Being a fellow rocker I struck up a conversation with them
about what kind of music they listened to in Norway. I really didn't know a whole
lot about their scene other than the Black Metal bands like Emperor or Hellhammer
(now I'm showing my age!) and they were more than happy to tell me about what
was current in their country. They recommended this band as a good place to
start since this video had just been released... now I know what Viking rock is
all about! These guys even look the part! Skol!

This is a weird story, but i once got in an argument with a stranger on world of warcraft in tradechat about music, we ended up seeing eye to eye more and becoming friends. Hes very passionate about music and this is one of the bands he showed me that stuck with me. He was unfortunately going through a very rough time in his life, leaving out the details he had bad "scabies" and lost his gf, had to move from his house and leave everything behind because of it and all it infested, leaving himself in an empty apartment, unable to get help or treatment for it. I tried to help him through those times and be there. He talked about suicide and i kept telling him that isnt the way out of this. He's been offline for a year and i wish the best for him, still listen to alot of this music on a regular, and i want to thank him for showing me this. Really cool guy, learned alot from him.

I was once a warmup-band for Kvelertak. One of the best concerts i have played and been at. Really nice guys and a great band!
It is impossible how these guys can just flow through all subgenres of rock 'n roll. Some songs sound like black metal, some are clear hardcore punk, some are 80's heavy and this is pure hard rock... and all of them are just great.

Yeah and then you have the solo of Bruane Brenn which on the second half sounds right out of a Boston album.
What I like about multiple guitarists in bands like these are moments like 3:00, just after a kickass solo a super melodic part kicks in and the second guitar steps in to accompany it while the third guitarist is still ripping the main riff background. Now I understand why they need three of them haha. Great tune.
Very cool, but also a very subtle effect. Couldn't it easily be replaced by for example a octave pedal? I wonder if they have better examples, just learned about the band.
I fucking love this song!!!! Kvelertak brings the happiness back to music and going to live concerts in general!!! One of the best live bands around!!!!

Same here. Saw them the night before Halloween with Gojira and Mastodon, my first concert, actually. Great show, all 3 bands were epic.
BestWayKilla Hell of a first concert man. I went to a show on the same tour, at the 930 club in DC. I didn't get there in time to catch Kvelertak, but Gojira was simply amazing. By far my favorite metal band. And honestly their set took a big ol' shit on Mastadon's

Hard rock meets Black metal ... this is by far one of the best bands I've heard nowadays, they've come to make a perfect blend of old school phrasing and riffin' with all the epic and powerfull tuning and dark feeling of black and death metal legacy . This is the present of rock and roll and heavy metal, greetings from Colombia, really hope to see you guys around someday.

7 year old update: Last year I saw the band live for the first time but in Europe. I was on the first row and got the paper setlist as a souvenir. It was a blast and I'm always going to remember this concert, despite the fact that I only sing giberish cause I don't know the norwegian language haha.

@Ukraine Combat Footage Their last album had a new drummer and lead vocalist (Kjetil Gjermundrod drums, gone and replaced by Havard Takle Ohr n Ivar Nikolaisen instead of Erlend Hjelvik on vocals). I didn't enjoy the Splid album at all, but hope that they find their way back to their roots on the future album... If you're a fan of Erlend, check out his Welcome To Hel album from 2020

Hammer Band
Being a Norwegian kid myself, other kids at my school think i'm wierd for not liking pop and liking rock and metal instead. But i dont understand why rock and metal isn't as cool as it used to be a long time ago. I love rock and metal! It's so frustrating to be one of the only kids at my school that likes rock and metal!

Because at some point Rock music in the mid 2000s lost the Blues part of it. It became bands like Train, Coldplay, etc. These soulless U2 Copies. It's lost it's groove. Kids growing up heard their parents listen to this garbage, and thus went for more of the sugary commercialized EDM scene and Mumble Rap. Fair enough. You know, I accept that I am old now lol. It's not what I liked, and now it scares and confuses me.
But here's my advice from an old timer to you. Be yourself man. Don't sweat it. Music is music at the end of the day. And if you think about it, you're more unique now than I ever was when I was your age. So Rock on!
I have the same problem, really annoying when you want to go to concerts...
Don't think about others. Just remember that your taste in music is better then theirs.
