Brahms--ever so sublime. I have really gotten into piano trios, quartets, and quintets the last few years. There is so much more richness than I ever thought there could be. At times, some piano quintets feel like a full orchestra. It's delightfully deceptive.
I'm reading the Jan Swafford biography on Brahms and I often stop to hear on RUclips a mentioned work. Isn't brilliant to to be able to do that. Thank you RUclips
I've always loved this piece---with the exception of the slow movement, which is one of the dullest things Brahms ever wrote. Wonderful performance though...
@Janaceks... I get what you mean, but disagree, it's almost as if you are invalidating the slow movement, which does deserve repeated listening. I love it.

It just keeps getting better each time you hear it, and that's not going to stop, ever!
My sentiments exactly!
Lugansky hits that last low C as if it’s the hammer of fate. Superbly percussive.
Isn’t it an F instead of C?:)
Luganega Is Better than Lugansky.
@@jsj1639Technically it’s the penultimate base note before the final F, so yes it is a low C.
See (Eccl. 7:4)…house of mourning. Brahms not only takes there, but gives a guided tour of subterranean structures of the heart…

Very passionate. Thank you very much.
Very good interpretation of Brahms piano quintet. The pianist is a great player. I love this piece.

SUBLIME..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Repin! The best player! Love this group! Superb!
This piece would have been so good as a symphony.
After the symphonies, my favorite Brahms work! Bravo! Beautiful work together!
Brahms is so metal
This is the most metal chamber piece next to Beethoven's Grosse Fuga.
@@psijicassassin7166I’d definitely put Bartok above both this and the Große Fuga
@@hauthot287Also Prokofiev 2 Mendelssohn 6/piano trios and Shostakovich 8 (quartets)
Metal is so Brahms.
В этом видео великолепно всё👍👍
Beautiful ensemble. Thank you so much!
FROM THE FIRST NOTES ONE IS COMPELLED TO BE DRAWN INTO THIE INTENSE MUSIC OF TREAT BEAUTY. BRAVO.

This scherzo is gorgeus
Such a brilliant performance !!! But why don't they ever feature the violist and the second violinist, because they're not young and cute?

Lugansky.Repin among the best of Russia
Порыв в неизведанные дали И Брамса.
Our beloved composed Franz Schubert was in this world for not even 32 years ... then Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, barely 36 years...........
Brahms used they paganini carnaval of Robert Schumann is 1 movimiento coda

The second movement is too fast. It loses all interest, sounds rushed.
Amaaaaazing performance otherwise
all too fast
