Christ that doesn't half go well Mate. If i had one of those i would always be worriesd that the Big End would pack up also the Electric Start Sprag Clutch is so delicate. Is there a better upgrade for that Paul?
Good eye! That baffle reminds me of Will from Brunei's description of that special plug they pop into their exhausts down there in those tropical rain forests to keep the snakes out. So, it cannot have helped that lovely AVL breathe properly. It sounds tip-top to me now, and it's not too loud at all. Sure is a pretty bike.
Hey Paul, that was a fun ride and sounds pretty good. I couldn't see clearly but at one point it looked like you almost buried the needle 😉. Maybe just glare on the speedo glass. Nice looking bike . Cheers, Dan. 🏍👍🇨🇦
I had a baffle like that in my 350. It definitely helped re noise. My wife said he was still far too noisy; he was! So I fitted a ‘standard’ silencer. Interestingly and bizarrely, he was quicker with the new system. So it might be as you said, the baffle causing the strangulation.
Sounds great, have recently ordered a new one and waiting to take delivery. Just wondering, is the sound in the video representative of what you hear on the bike? I can hear the higher pitched whine of the gears as well maybe, is that just the camera and RUclips compression messing with my ears?
Thanks. My camera can pick up sounds which are not so audible when I ride a machine, for instance, if I hear a hint of pinking now and then, the camera will pick it up much more clearly, but in the case of the exhaust sound, that is pretty realistic. The whine from the timing gears is something I didn't hear while riding the machine, but it is not what I would consider a bad sound, in any case.
@@paulhenshaw4514 Thanks Paul for the quick response. I come from a misspent youth riding sports bikes and while I really am looking forward to taking delivery of my 500 now I can get past my ego and enjoy the leisurely lanes, I do get a little worried that it’s just going to be a can of rattle. That thump though, gets me every time 😜
You've certainly got that bike running well, sounds good un all.
Thanks!
Sounds good to me. I like the gearing. I hope the owner will take good care of it.
Me too!

Thanks - the retarded inlet timing as I used on this machine makes electric or kickstarting much easier on the sprag and leg!

Thanks again, Bill!

What about the bean can breather thingy behind the cylinder?
I think that might stay put for now!
Well spotted!! Did you have to do any work on the gearbox as originally described or was it a clutch issue Paul.
Thanks David, I changed the kickstart pawl at the owner's request, but the gearbox seems to be fine.
Can I ask what you paid for this please?
It is not mine, just a machine I worked on, like the majority of machines in my videos.
Hi Paul how can I reach you are you on FB would like to message you.
Hi Grant - check out Performance Classics on FB.
I'm all for releasing "sound" but controlling "noise"..............
That is fair comment, but I proved years ago on a dyno that power increases with noise on these machines!
