I've had one of these plants for 15yrs in my house. It's a single stem & is about 4ft tall with no arms. It has beautiful leaves & I have never seen a flower. I jus repotted it with a new Madagascar palm. Wish I could share a pic. Great video.
There's a few different species of these Madagascar palms. I have two planted in my yard in Central Florida which are also like how you describe yours. They are both about 7ft tall now.
That's cool looking plants you have. I am jealous 😉 We have cold winters so I have to take my Madagascar palm inside in the winter so I can't really grow it too big. It's a show stopper. Definitely deserving of being the focal peace in a garden.
Amazing specimen! I live in Phoenix and just got my first MP. She's a 5 trunk beauty 4 foot tall. I've been covering her with a lamp for heat because we're having a brutal winter this year. I can't waut for spring and the shift of sun and some heat to see what she does!
That’s a nice specimen and it was planted properly, as you noted. Even in SD it’s important to give this genus good drainage or they can rot during a wet winter. I grow three species, lamerei, gearyi and bispinosum. I have all three in a raised bed full of well draining succulent soil. They are quite happy. My area of southern SD county has terrible drainage, so many plants don’t do well when planted in unamended soil. I had a baby Pachypodium namaquanum in a pot . I was careful about the frequency and amount of water I gave it but I managed to rot it anyway. ~ You might consider topping your lamerei that’s getting too tall. You can root the cutting, same way as a cactus cutting, and the top will branch out. You could even take multiple cuttings and fill a large pot with them and the mother plant. Then you would be on your way to having a specimen like the one in this video.
You made my day my friend. I'd love to hang out with my brother. I have a Madagascar Palm its about 2 and half feet tall. But your plant is amazing. I hope all is well.☺
Olá, maravilha de Lamerei. Vários bouquet de flores e ainda sementes. Folhas vigorosas, troncos individuais robustos e saudáveis mostram que ela gostou do solo. Já inscrito 👍🏼
I love plants I always speak to them everyday and I wanna get a Pachypodium lamerei my friend had one and it smells sooooooooo great it’s beautiful it reminds me of an agave plant
This "reply" I'm typing approximately 3-4 days later. I did it! I ordered a baby Madagascar palm via Amazon. I shelled out a total of about $17.00 for a 4" plant and am watching as many videos before it's arrival as I can. BTW, I can see you're a succulent fan by seeing the ones planted in your yard. Congratulations on being in a climate where they won't freeze. I'm in Lake Charles, LA in a subtropical climate where we have probably 3 or 4 light (28-32 degree) freezes each winter, so I'll need to scoot it inside for the night. Thanks for posting. BTW, did you plant those in a cluster like that? If you did, it has a good effect! 🪴🌴
like 3 days ago I tripped and fell and this specific plant was in my way and I did not see it so when I tried to catch myself my right hand went full force into it and now my writing hand cannot be used
I agree but look what Wikipedia says: “Description: Pachypodium lamerei is a species of flowering plant in the family Apocynaceae. It is a stem succulent, photosynthesizing mainly through its trunk”
@@ScaryHairyGary Thanks...I'll check it and maybe YOU can correct it. HA! I don't have any specific expertise but I'd bet good money that's wrong, trunks in the shade can produce a little but nothing compared to the leaves in direct sun. Granted trunks get some direct sun most likely.
Bo McGillacutty I agree - the fact that the greenest part (leaves) are likely to have the most chlorophyll content AND is located where the most sunshine exposure occurs is not a freak occurrence. The Wikipedia folks may to update their information
@@waydeepinside Yup....Wikipedia get's things wrong on occasion, someone regurgitated a myth or misunderstood without thinking. A given rare plant probably get's minimal traffic.
Bo McGillacutty absolutely agree - perhaps what wiki intended to divulge was that the the trunk and stems can ALSO synthesis sunlight albeit secondarily to the more heavily chlorophyll laden containing leaves
plants with white flowers are my favorite. especially gardenia and jasmine scent.

Do you put it outside in brighter light in summer?

It takes years for them to produce flowers. Like 10 years+

That’s a great idea to cut its head off and root it. That will be the plan. Thanks for the input.

How is that I just came across YOU! You are hilarious. Oh yes, informative too.
I hide deep in the recesses of the palm forests where very few can find me. Thanks for watching! : )

I bought ten and so far so good. I had them for almost two years now
Amazing spectacular plant I've never seen.

I MUST have one of these potentially monstrous plants! I already have a traveler's palm and all kinds of succulents, but this one is next, I promise!

My white flowers have black spots. What does it mean?
What are the lowest temperatures this can take
What a beauty!
Can I leave my Madagascar palm out in the winter, I'm from New MEXICO sometime the temperature drops to the teens.
I found white spots on Madagascar leaves, how can I fix this problem, thx
Hi sir need to ask something please..... could we make a wound on the body for purpose to growth a new branch on the tree?
Noooooo
Those green leaves aren't just for looks they *gotta* be the primary photosynthesizing part.

You are funny 🤣
Thanks!
Who needs drugs when u have a fragrant plant? 😂😂😂😂 I do!
Someones used to snort coke 🙄
never once. truthfully. Mushrooms on occasion and of course ganja when the doobie made its way to me. that's it. unless tequila counts
Not like that 😂😂
